Anyone hear what next month's promo might be? $10k for quad 7's between noon and 12:15 on Thursdays, perhaps?

since we can't say supervisor names, <description> supervisor said it was gas cards for April.

That includes descriptions too. The point is to not identify a specific individual.

When they came out with the 6 month policy for the comps expiring I asked a supervisor how they were actually going to implement that, like are they going to issue statements telling us our balance and how many points are expiring. I also asked him if I had any points due to expire.

He had to look up my account, and manually start looking back month by month and trying to add up my points. I mentioned that it seems odd there is no automated way to do that, if they intend to clear out peoples points as they expire.

He then said they aren't actually going to do that at all. Rather, they had to make that rule so they had the legal authority to zero out balances of people who say came to play for one weekend, and then never came back. Without an expiration date, those balances could be a potential cash liability to the casino forever. So his bottom line was that regs need not worry about it.

That said, to be sure they don't take the dollars, you should get a feel for how old your comp dollars are. But in most likelihood, they are not really going to be taken on the 181st day as the policy implies.

But if you check you balance 6 months from now and your balance is 0, don't blame me, what do I know!

^So why don't they just make the policy that all points expire if there is no activity on the points account in the last 180 days? I guess that makes too much sense.

I don't think they mean that your comp balance will zero out every 6 months. It means that a particular comp award expires after 6 months if not used. When you use a comp, the oldest comp dollars are used first.

The airlines instituted similar policies for frequent flyer miles (expire after a couple of years) because their auditors tried to make them allocate a huge contingency expense for all unused frequent flyer miles, even if they are likely to be never used or have been been in customer accounts for 10-20 years.

Haven't played here in months. People at my 1-2 table were lol bad. This guy played every hand and I hadn't seen him fold pre flop to a raise or a 3bet yet.... He managed to have $500 in front of him. He opens utg to $10, 1 caller to me on the button and I jam for $120 with JJ and the guy calls with A4 :-O.

I am amazed at how consistently soft the 1/2 game has been at THR. I was a very occasional (like a few times a year) rec player until my weekly uber-low-stakes home game went on hiatus and now I'm going once a week. I am not a very good player yet, but just by identifying the different types of players and exploiting their weaknesses (mostly loose-passives and tight-passives with the occasional drunk lag-tard) I have been crushing it.

Seven winning sessions and 1 losing averaging 14bb/hr over 83 hours. I know sample size, but I'm taking my share of coolers and beats. It's just that I win so many small-medium pots by relentlessly value betting the loose-passives and c-betting in position against the tight-passives that when I take a cooler they are usually playing short.

The other awesome thing about the THR right now are the new cocktail waitress uniforms. Yowza.

Yes it's true Tampa Hard Rock's 1-2 is ridiculously soft, but its a short stack game where so many poker concepts really don't apply because you are almost never deep enough to apply them...if you like the 1-2 and you can beat it regularly and you thinks its ez try 2-5, super soft with deeper stacks and you can beat the rake...

What if my brankroll is only 4K and I am very averse to losing it all? Would you recommend buying in at $200 at 2/5 vs. just playing 1/2? My intuition says bad idea, but it's sorta tempting.

Have you tried 1/3 with $300 max buy-in? Personally, I don't like be short-stacked with my style of play.

I would strongly consider short stacking 2/5. It's not optimal to short stack but it gives you a better chance vs. the rake which is hideous at 1/2. I think your risk of ruin with a $4K bank roll is very small, that is 20 buy ins assuming $200. Even if you just take a few shots at 2/5 I believe you'd be better off, you would very surprised at how soft the 2/5 games generally are. There are some exceptions at times as there are a few good/tricky players but there are usually enough 2/5 tables going where you can table select. Please note that this assumes you are consistently beating 1/2 for a decent $BB/HR (which I don't doubt but had to mention).

If you want to discuss further feel free to PM me, I'll be happy to help if I can. Good luck!

I had a 13 hour session last night and I don't know if it was just me, but it seemed hot as hell in there last night. Was it just me?

If I remember correctly, when they first moved the room to the new area they were having problems with the air conditioning from time to time...maybe more of the same?

It's usually freezing (one of the biggest and most constant complaints), but it was definitely hot today. Personally, I'd rather be too warm than too cold, so no complaints here.

Jesus the donks were rampant last night...
I have been killing the 1/2 and am curious about the 1/3 (as it allows 100bb buyin max vs. 50). Is it usually as filled with as bad players as 1/2?

IMO, no. But I am not saying they are great either. Obviously weaker on weekends.

You've got to be kidding. $400 less than every other card promo they've ever done. They continue to outdo themselves.

With such large amounts of the promo rake going to the BBJ and backup, there will be little left over for the regular monthly type promotions. I fear the days of the gas card/week or ipads is over.
