Finally back in the U.S. after a year. Moving to the area at the end of May. What's the action been like these days? 5-10NL games still going? Any big tourneys in May?

Can't comment on the action, because Ive been putting in minimal volume, but it seems the same.

5-10 at Cap about 6 nights a week, TV runs 5-10 mostly on the weekends

2-5 going at Cap, TV, & Royale

As far as tourneys go, Sacramento doesn't have any "big" ones. A couple $200 buyins every month & a $500 every few months. TV tries to do a series, but sell out the day before the event.

Thanks. That sounds pretty good. Can't wait to check it out. Sounds like I'll be playing mostly at Cap and TV.

It was re-entry, but I don't think anyone took advantage.

Who wants to play a HU match? 6 games or so. NL PLO O8 2-7 etc etc games are negotiatable.

Could be a freeze out with a sidebet or just a straight cash game with set number of hands with/or without a sidebet. Nothing higher than 2/5 for NL portion because I don't want to go busto. Would be willing to play lower than 1/2ish also just to widen the chance I can get action.

Fwiw I have pretty much zero experience playing anything but NL and I'm a small winner in small stakes PLO. I just want to include other games so it's not so boring. I'm also not very experienced playing live.

If anyone is interested just post some terms/stakes that you want and we can negotiate.

Chris

I would be interested if it's NL only. 2/5 or 5/10. Up to $10k bi. 500 hands. Where would this be at?

Ok what games are you interested in playing and where would you prefer to play? A friend of mine mentioned you play a lot of games besides NL.

I want to play other games besides NL. I will likely only want to risk $4k or so.

At first I wanted the match to be played privately but that seems silly for obvious reasons so I guess it would have to take place at a cardroom with dealers that know how to deal other games besides NL. We would likely have to shop around to find a room that would give us a good deal on rake/paid time. TV is out of the question, I hate the derby, royale and Phoenix are possibilities since I'm pretty cool with the floor.

I've never been there but a buddy of mine used to go pretty often back in 2008/2009. They ran a $200max 2/4 game. I honestly haven't heard anyone talking about cache creek in the last year or 2.

Cache Creek had a 28 table poker room that was a very classy venue. About 18 months ago they made a decision to move the poker back to the gaming floor and convert the poker room to a high-limit slots parlor.
Their poker business has been in steady decline since.
They have made recent small efforts to gain players, but it still is in dire straits. BBJ is wayy down from a regular pot of some 200k. Aces cracked still get the old-timers in, playing 3-6 limit all day. They have 4-8 limit later in the day, and there are days when absolutely NO NL is spread.
Recently, the cocktail waitresses are allowed to serve alcohol drinks in the poker room. This was verboten until just a few weeks ago. You needed to get your own beer, etc.
Comps and stuff? forget about it. No comps loaded on your card, no $1 per hour, nothing.
They only started to allow chopping and no flop no drop about a year ago.

The casino itself is pretty nice. I was there just a few weeks ago, since I was flying out of SFO on a Sunday- wife and I ate there, and played a little bit before leaving for airport. A great buffet, nice hotel, fab golf course, boffo steakhouse. Poker problems, from what I hear, stem from the clash between floor managers and poker bosses. Poker people there have little say to the upper management, and uppers have really made most of the decisions that have really killed the room.

So, living in Sacramento, I have a choice between the city card rooms ( 5 min drive), Thunder Valley ( 25 minute drive), Red Hawk (30 min drive) or Cache Creek ( 45 min drive). Cache creek has been losing in that logic tree for a while now.

I would consider nlhe, o8, plo, razz. Or any combination of those games. 10 hands per game per round and say 10 rounds. Limits would be, 5/10; 20/40; 2/5.
But it would really depend on the deal you could obtain. I.e. I don't really want to pay $300 to play hu for $4k.

A friend of mine is a professional poker dealer that deals the WSOP every year. He doesn't deal locally. I've contacted him about this and I will put you in touch with him if necessary. He has chips, cards, tables, can get extra dealers, etc.

I think you may have a problem trying to do this in one of the cardrooms locally. I do not believe they are licensed for any of the games above except for NL and O/8. I could be mistaken though
