Justin,

An ante less than 1/8 of the BB becomes pointless. If you're going to have them, they should count for something. They will also lead to deeper stacks later in the tournament, which is what you want.

Love ya justin, but this is just incorrect (at aria right now)

Anything less than 1/8th is not good

Julian

Can you please point out the differences between the Aria structure and the Stones structure so that I can correct them.

Thank you

It's because they skip the 150/300 level, but keep the antes going at the same rate as if they didn't. Yeah when you go to 200/400 it should be 50. For the once a month tourney can we get a 150/300 25, 500/1k and 5k/10k level? Just start at 50/100.

I just saw it posted here that stones antes were less than 1/8th and pointing out that arias weren't

Haven't looked at stones structure at all but if antes are different that's part of the structure

I posted the Stones structure above for you to review. Please take a moment to review both structures. They should be the same. If I have missed something, please notify me and I will correct it immediately.

The Aria structure posted here and the Stones structure both match.

But that just means the Aria's antes are too small too.

The Aria structure posted here and the Stones structure both match.

I guess if you want to have small ante's, then fine. But at least be consistent about them.

Here are the ante:sb ratios for all the levels in the Stones structure as listed on the structure sheet:

0.25
0.13
0.17
0.19
0.17
0.25
0.30
0.27
0.25
0.17
0.25
0.33
0.25
0.30
0.27
0.25
0.17
0.25
0.17

Notice how they jump all over between .13 and .33.

Now compare it to a WSOP structure:

0.25
0.25
0.25
0.25
0.20
0.33
0.25
0.30
0.27
0.25
0.33
0.25
0.20
0.33
0.25
0.30
0.27
0.25
0.33
0.25
0.33

Notice how the ratios are pretty consistent.

The Stones ante structure has one level (3000/6000/500) where the antes add up to a little more than half of the blinds and then two levels later (6000/12000/2000) the antes are more than both the blinds combined.

To further illustrate some of the inconsistencies, the 600/1200 level has a 100 ante and the 6000/12000 level has a 2000 ante. The 60k/120k level? Back to 10k.

Nothing wrong with changing ratios. In fact, I prefer it because it requires a change in strategy. I just think they are too small here.

Oh **** lol didn't even fully check arias ante structure (only looked at early and deep play antes), plus I did ask two floor people if any of their antes were smaller than 1/8 and both were like I don't think so before he brought me to structure sheets

My apologies guys should've looked at whole thing, good work justin!

Want a good structure go look at the ante up world championship event we are lucky to have right here at home! 40 minutes to start. 60 minutes after level 9. 30k chips to start and I couldn't add a level to this if I tried. Insane value!!!! Series starts Thursday!!! Satellites going now!!!!

So I am planning on playing the 425 event this weekend at tv. I have a few questions.and would appreciate feedback.
1) any advantage or disdvantage between starting day 1b or 1c?
2) what is a full day like...10 to 12 hours

Any other advice you may have for a below average recreational player would be great.
Thanks.

For some reason I feel 1a or 1b is better than 1c, just personal preference although all fields will be soft. I can't see them playing less than 12 hours, but I don't remember.

Advise: tight is right, don't hero call Asian regs, always hero call Sean Drake, and DONT TALK STRAT AT THE TABLE! Good luck! I know at least one fish won't be playing the event :-)

As far as antes, I think Savage uses the rule of thumb: antes should be as close to 1/6th the bb as the chips allow. So 25/75-150, 25/100-200, 50/150-300.... , only time he doesn't seem to use that rule is the 75/300-600 level and that seems to be more about color up than anything else, but nobody Is perfect.

Justin should do whatever he feels is right, I'm sure some people like the small antes just like some didn't like when antes were 1st introduced not to long ago locally.

Starting yesterday at Stones we changed our re-entry policy so that anyone who purchases their tournament ticket before level 4 will be guaranteed entry! I'm really excited about this change and the players loved it last night too for our Tuesday PM tournament.

The structure is more about just copying Aria than anything else. Ante structures have become so standard that everyone who plays a tournament expects something like the WSOP, maybe minus a few levels. There are going to be more people complaining about this structure than a WSOP structure. And I'm sure the goal is pleasing the bigger crowd.

As for everything else at Stones, its been great. Its nice to see them listening to feedback and acting on it.

We listen to and seriously consider every suggestion. This tournament is for the players so it would be silly to disregard their input. We are adding a new event in September as well and a structure upgrade that will include the 150-300 level on our 20 minute structure which many players have been asking for.

What about running satellites for the $225 tournament at Stones? $50 buy-in, 10 players, have it last an hour or a little longer and pay two winners a seat.

When I've traveled and done tournament series, the floors were always able to get a bunch of these off before a tournament starts. I bet you could run these all day Friday and Saturday and part of the day Sunday as well right before the last-Sunday tournament.

They don't need satellites because they sell out.

Big congrats to MinCashMatt for his cash in Event 1! It's a bummer you couldn't last until the 11-WAY CHOP (wtf).
