What do people think about Stones' rule where they do no permit a straddle unless it's announced or posted before the first card comes off the deck?

i have to think most rooms have a "rule" that states it has to be done before the first card is dealt. How tightly that rule has been enforced may be an issue. Such that Stones being tight on a rule seems harsh, when in fact, its not.

Most rooms probably have a rule that says blinds need to be posted before the first card is dealt, or the player could be dealt out. And of course that is not tightly enforced. Or player says "deal me in" when he is not in seat. Squishy

It really depends on the dealer. Most of the time they will let someone straddle even after everyone has gotten their first card. I generally only see them deny it when a player has received both cards.

The rule is in place to protect the blinds who do not wish to be dealt in while their blinds are in a straddled pot, that way they can ask to be dealt out

In all the poker I've played, I've never seen blinds opt of posting because someone straddled.

There are some changes that need to be made there soon. I'm going to refrain from stating them here for now, at least until after I talk to someone from stones.

I have opted out of my blinds multiple times when someone tried to straddle before the first card was dealt but to be fair the dealer didn't want to cut the deck when it came out of the shuffler. that's the easiest way to get pocket aces cracked.

I meant to write "after" the first card was dealt.

There was this middle aged guy named Ron who used to get dealt out of Flb $1 $3 when anyone would button straddle on his blind and then post ASAP

I've been playing a little more poker lately than usual ever since I got rid of that huge time-suck known as a girlfriend. So I was at the Limelight last night for the 6:30 tournament and there's an open seat on my left. Around the third level, abarber walked in and sat down next to me. On his first or second hand, the table folded to him in the small blind and he open-shoved 5K. The big blind, having been dealt pocket aces, called.

abarber shows his hand - 8-3o - and there are a lot of WTF looks passed around.

The board ran out X-8-X-8-3.

You just can't make this stuff up.

There's so much more to the story. There were like 3 limps at 200-400. After I jammed, the BB was like "Really?" and after he called he berated me, so naturally I fist pumped and told him what an ******* he was.

The entertainment factor was real high though.

I could have sworn it folded to you but I was a couple beers deep by then.

"I've never wanted to suck out so badly on someone in my life" LOL

Also that guy was on his third bullet before you even sat down. The table was awesome. In the 50/100 level, a bunch of people limped to the drunk on my left, he makes it 1400 total and the aces-in-the-blind guy calls. The flop comes out all hearts and the drunk checks and Aces goes all-in for about 1/2 the pot. Drunk guy calls with 7-2hh and Aces has 7-4dd - no pair.

This part had me laughing. I have no idea what you look like irl but in my head your a middle aged white guy with an oversized sweatshirt, jeans and white tennis shoes whispering "Yes!" to yourself as the river was dealt while you slowly pull in a fist pump.

Probably basketball or running shorts and the sweatshirt is unlikely to be oversized but this isn't far off. 👍

Don't forget the tshirts a little short and the Bball shorts a bit tight making butt crack on display standard.
