I was at Stones on Saturday from 4:30pm to 9:30pm ish. I was playing 1-2NL. I think they had like 3 tables, 3 tables 1-3NL, some 3/6 limit and omaha 4/8 I think. The card room is very nice. The chairs are very comfortable and there are USB's underneath the table in every seat. As a seated player you get 40% off the food menu and also save money on alcohol. Not sure how much though.

The table I was at was probably the most passive table I have ever played. Not like the traditional Lucky Derby 1-2nl. I will definitely go back (lot of eye candy and nice accommodations) but hopefully this was not a typical Saturday night.

Even at the Derby the 1-2 could be anywhere from nitty/passive/boring to wild and crazy loose aggressive or anywhere in between. It all depends on who's at the table. If you get stuck at a really passive game you can always get a table change.

Bravo is very expensive. But It is the best. I've seen horrible problems running tournaments without it. They've been using the same system for a long time. I expect No change unless public outcry becomes unbearable.

Players want to have access to games and live action reports. Bravo is needed.

The room and casino are really nice. Sexy brand new chips. Dealers and staff are nice and helpful. There are some very attractive young ladies working there which is always nice. Overall I liked if a lot.

Few things I didn't like were that they run 1/2 NL and 1/3 NL, which cannibalized each other IMO. They also let people buy in for $100 at 2/5, which should be $200 minimum. The last thing I didn't like was they searched my backpack at the door.

Wow $100 at 2/5 sounds super tilty

Also could see 1/2-1/3 games being super weird, no point

1/2 and 1/3? I'm guessing one is jackpot eligible and one isn't? $100 min at 2/5 seems pretty annoying, should be 40-50 bb min imo. It mostly the same faces seen regularly around sac there I assume just at a new location?

Stones:

This place is beautiful, nicest cardroom I've ever seen. I walked In at around 11pm Thursday night, they had about six 1-2 or 1-3s, one 4/8 Omaha8, and they immediately spread a 2-5 NLH game around me. Currently around 2am they have two 1-3s, two 1-2s, and this 2-5. Not much bad to say about how it looks, but Im willing to answer specific question.

All games are jackpot eligible

I think they were doing that at Lucky Derby so it just stuck? Haven't played the 1/2 but when I hopped in 1/3 tonight before the 2/5 started, the 1/3 was playing as a table max game! That surprised me. I don't think that's a good idea long term, but in the short term it's kinda awesome.

If it were me running the joint, I would say they should run these games:

1/2: $40-$400
2/5: $200-$1000/ Table max if it's the biggest game running
5/10: $500-Table max

If there's a 2/5 with no 5/10 game, 2/5 table max is great. It shouldn't be table max if 5/10 is running, though.

I also really hope they get a regular PLO game of some kind going. $1/3 $100-Table max sounds good. Would be cool if they ran mixed games also.

I really wish Thunder would get rid of their 5/5 and just make the 2/5 $200-$1000 as well to create a better game/more competition and keep all of the $5bb money in the same player pool, but I'm not confident that this will happen anytime soon.

In Southern California (i.e. Commerce, The Bike, Hollywood Park), 1-2 NL has a $40 MAXIMUM buy-in and 2-5 NL has a $100 MAXIMUM buy-in. Not surprisingly, any pocket pair jacks or above result in a shove pre-flop. Small pairs and suited connectors are usually NOT playable for even the minimum raise in those games.

The NL games in Northern California play much deeper. At Graton in Rohnert Park, the 1-3 NL game has a $500 maximum buy-in.

So are the games action'y or pretty nitty then (considering the low min)?

I played 2/5 there July 2nd, action was decent, 100 min was weird and they used a lot of 1$ chips in the 2/5 game. I asked Garett the floor guy if the we're getting bravo he said they are going to develop their own app. Otherwise a really nice casino with lots of hotties running around.

I only played 2-5 and I knew everyone in the game, Id say it was a bit on the nitty side. I saw a couple faces around the room that I didn't recognize, and that's a good thing. Game quality is something that you'll probably have to judge on your own.

I agree with CJ about the BuyIns and protecting the players, we don't want to hurt the recreational players too much by letting them buy up to the max in 1-3, in a small poker economy like ours it makes for feast or famine.

What are you smoking?

Those $2/5 games don't have a $100 max buy in!
That would just be idiotic.
