I think I've seen that bigger games run. Anyone?
The 6/12 has a kill to 10/20 on scoops over 90.

10/20 OE runs occasionally, and a 15/30 has gone a couple times.

Just a note, 6/12 that runs daily is not straight O8...half the mix is Stud 8.

So I've been to Parx, but only on the weekends. I have heard that Tuesday night is their biggest night and am debating going. How are the games compared to Saturday and Sunday?

I only play 2/5 but am curious about the atmosphere on Tuesdays.

Tuesday tends to be a very big night, though I think the main differences are in the high limit area which fills with bigger NL and Limit games on Tuesday. 1-2 and 2-5 are also busier than normal, but with a relatively smaller delta.

Having said that, the Borgata Summer Open is going on now (not to mention the WSOP), so it's bound to be a little more muted than normal for the next week or so.

Ugh, played with an old Russian guy at 6/12 OE today that didnt understand the low--not what makes a low, there there IS a low. He caught on eventually but still played horribly. Very upset when his nut flush didnt scoop the pot the first time it happened.

Constantly flashed his cards.

Had his cards squeezed in his hand during Omaha such that he went 2 streets without calling the action (so technically dealer error, but pretty easy to miss). Guy turned a set and was upset when his hand was declared dead.

All that and he only dumped less than $200 playing almost every hand for 3 hours. I got the job of helping him (between hands explaining what was going on).

He was there with a younger guy (son?) who'd stop by the table once in awhile, when the old man bitched, the young guy would say "don't play a game you don't understand' and the walk away.

Quite the day.

How does one go about getting a temporary safe deposit box? Thanks

I go to AC regularly but have always been more of a mixed game player, and unfortunately I'm not rolled for the 50/100+ mixed games that run at Borgata. Someone posted in this thread that the 6/12 OE game runs every day, does it usually run 24/7 or is this just a daytime game? Is it usually a decent mix of people, or all the same crowd of 80 year olds? It doesn't seem like they offer rooms there, is there any place super close by that is convenient and you can recommend? Many thanks in advance for any info you can offer.

The 6/12 OE game is generally a good game. Average age is older, but nowhere near 80.
It only takes 1 action player to drive the game and some of the regulars give plenty.

(observations of ~1/month player usually a weekend afternoon, but I played during a weekday this week and it was a plenty active game).

I don't know how late it generally runs. I have gone in the AM and played in a game that made it through overnight or took a breakfast break only.

I don't know if there's an official policy, but:

1- Play a bunch of hours. Maybe more highly weighted for larger games.
2- Ask the shift supervisor if you can get put on the wait list for a box.
3- Wait to be notified when there's an opening.

I know they reclaimed a bunch of boxes a few months ago (from players who were no longer active in the room), but I think those may have all been redistributed by now.

I'm not 100% positive on this but I think it's August 18th or 19th.

For those that have experience playing 2/5 at the Borgata, how would you compare it to the 2/5 at Parx?

I enjoy Parx 2/5 INFINITELY more than Borgata. If you are asking if the players are better or worse, I think you need to table select as most places. In terms of structure, 200bb game makes this 2/5 MUCH more action.. The $5 per half rake structure at Borgata kills me so much when 5/10 NLHE is $6... Also, you will find much deeper stacks at the table(More even median of stacks as well) which is much better to play against..

Thanks. I think time rake is actually preferable. I've been told that Borgata's game is softer.

Appreciate the info. Planning a trip to Parx to check the game out, but I like to drink a few beers while I play, and the fact that I can't get a room there is somewhat of an impediment. Do they have taxis outside at all hours to take people back to their hotels?

You'd probably have to call one late. Hotels are only a couple minute drive but not easily walkable.

One of the hotels is at the far front of the casino parking area by Applebees? Thats walkable and presumably safe?????

And the 6/12 OE looks like mid-morning to wee hours daily at worst. So as long as your hours aren't 3AM to 9AM you should be pretty good.

Two entirely different games....1000 max v. 500 max. When comparing games one needs to consider average stack at table as being more important than the blind structure. Many players at parx buy in for the 1000 max...also lots of regs. As in most cases a bigger game is tougher than a smaller game.

I'm very excited. My friends and I are doing a 4th of July roadtrip to Philly this year, and will be spending most of Saturday afternoon at Parx, hopefully playing from 6/12 O8/S8.

I have a question for you guys though. Does Chickie and Pete's typically show UFC PPVs? My friends and I are looking for a place to watch UFC 175, and if we can do it while not leaving the casino, all the better.

I don't know the answer to the UFC question, but just to make sure you know, Chickie & Pete's is actually in the main casino, which is in another building about 200 yards away from the poker room buiilding. Shouldn't be an issue, but wanted to make sure that was clear.
