i do not dispute that leaving chips unattended invites trouble, but it is the casino's responsibility to assist the authorities in investigating the theft
Which they did when it happened. So I don't see what the issue is here.

The guy didn't get his chips back when the thief was caught, it became evidence, and he has to go to court to get it. So maybe that was where the story came from.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

In the last 2 weeks there have been 2 incidents of people grabbing neighbor's chipstacks, and one incident of a player walking off with the dealer's tip bucket, as far as I know.

I believe all perpetrators have been arrested or at least banned.

There is no practical way to leave your chips unattended for at least some of the time in the casino. Everybody pees. How do you "protect" your chips?

One of the things we expect from rake is a certain amount of safety and protection from this kind of stuff.

Exactly, that's about the extent of their ability once it becomes a legal matter. I am not ripping the floor or casino. It's still the players responsibility to protect their investments on the table.

C'mon you know the practical way to protect your chips. Not the reds but cover your bigger chips and place them farther towards the dealer/center of the table so it makes grabbing them far more difficult. Obviously you don't want blacks and stuff exposed. Even take them off and let the table know you'll come back with the same amount. Just common sense

Re: PARX Poker Thread

I think it's unreasonable to have to worry about protecting your money from being stolen in a casino, especially with the amount of security there is here. I consider security a reasonable expectation when you come in and are paying rake.

Regardless though you're talking about a situation that rarely occurs and has such a low chance of the guy not being caught that I don't even see the point of debating it.

For a while at Harrah's Chester they would put a big plexi box over your chips when you were away. Or maybe it was Harrah's AC? Might have been a dream too.

You can still request this at many places.

No idea if the Parx has these...

I guess they need these if this is going on....didn't know PARX is turning into the TAJ.

This is disturbing to me....If I get up to go to the bathroom, my chips should be safe on the table. WTF is the dealer doing while people are grabbing chips? It certainly should be the poker rooms responsibility to keep my chips safe as far as I am concerned.

Am I supposed to rack up and take chips everytime I leave the table? If i got 3 or 4 racks of chips that makes it hard to take a piss while holding them. Also if everyone takes there chips everytime they piss or smoke then Going south would be impossible to stop. Also then the floor would be giving away seats left and right.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

He was talking about Harrah's Chester, where for a short time they were following a "state rule" that chips HAD TO BE covered every single time a person got up.

These boxes are available in pretty much every casino, Borgata included. On occasion would see them there, either when someone was soon to be picked up, or some players would ask the desk for one before going afk for awhile.

Also people are not super obvious about it, you are acting like the dealer is missing someone reaching over two seats and grabbing a stack while twirling his mustache with the other hand

Since I wasn't there I figured this is what happened. I get nearly blackout drunk sometimes so someone could take my chips while I am at the table I guess but still I pour money into the place...they have like 10 security guards walking around...they go to the cameras to figure out who missed paying time for gods sakes...you'd hope they cared at least half as much about protecting the players chips as they do the Time Charge!

In regards to the omaha hi/lo games that run: I know that the $4/$8 usually has a half-kill to $6/$12, but when the game report says that the $6/$12 is running, is there a half- or full-kill on that game?

6-12 is O/E split.

This...

In all fairness though, there are plenty of cameras, and as stated, all perpetrators involved in shady incidents were dealt with appropriately...

I like the tourneys being just once a week, keeps them more like an "event" and therefore more runners
