Drinking is more prevalent in other casinos bc of the fact that there is a hotel in the casino. No one wants to get mangled and then have to drive back home. In a hotel casino, you have the freedom to drink as much as you want then go upstairs and pass out. Parx does not have a hotel yet and when they do maybe things will be different.

Until then, as mentioned above, vote with your feet and stop talking about the room being bad bc they don't serve free booze. If the room thought it would be more profitable they would have done it already 300 pages ago before all these one timers started complaining about it again.
Uhh I saw 3 people order drinks in 50 hours and 4 days of play so as cheap as poker players are the answer to your question is a big NO. I don't drink by the way but makes the games easier. I saw people sleeping in their cars without running their engine at 4 am on my way to place inn so you have some real degens out there. If people are going to sleep in the parking lot in February I am sure to be one of the few people complaining about comps lol.

At foxwoods 7 people at table are generally ordering drinks because they are free. I am sorry but the room is bad . I was there a year ago and sadly nothing has changed. Staying 4 days just brought out how glaringly bad the room is in terms of player development but I do understand Parx couldn't care less because they have the market cornered in Philly. 5 dollar rake, 1 dollar comp no free alchoholic drinks, no free rooms yes I know no hotel at 1 2nl does not a good room make I just can't get past it sorry. What is good about the parx that other rooms don't have beat many fold?

I read what you wrote previously so try to read and absorb what I wrote and stop over loading this thread with your repetitive, negative, uninformative posts. Didn't you also say you're done talking about the drink situation btw?

You said degens who drink are going to drink anyway which is not the case. It is a lost cause though because the Parx knows they don't have to give anything back to the players so they don't. Its great to have such a loyal following and not do anything to warrant it, I will concede that.

Sounds like you ordered from the bar. If you're not ordering from the waitress the bartender does not know that you are seated in a game and charges the standard price.

Obviously I can't speak for everyone, or anyone but myself. It would take a significant incentive to get my action at sugarhouse instead of parx. A substantial increase in comps or deduction in rake. Or a total lack of games at parx. Sugarhouse is in an awful area, and going to a major pain to get too for anyone coming from 76.

In fact if parx were to lose my preferred games to sugarhouse i'd likely just drive past and go to the borgata.

did comp expiration get extended? are they accrued in real time or when you leave the table?

I believe comps last 90 days. Points don't get added to your card until they clock you out, but they can just swipe you out then back in quick if you need the points immediatly.

I live in the city, so I would have no problems with the regs driving to parx and borgata over sugarhouse. Anyway, it's still a long ways from happening so I'll stop clogging this thread with this nonsense.

Code:
Borgata $1,737,513
Parx $1,345,864

Mohegan Sun $ 385,254
Penn National $ 372,977
Showboat $ 257,251
The Meadows $ 244,213
Tropicana $ 239,696
Bally's $ 229,696
Caesar's $ 214,577
Mount Airy $ 178,682
Presque Isle $ 83,969
Revel $ 72,108
Golden Nugget $ 38,716
I could not find monthly breakdowns for Connecticut or Delaware casinos. But at worst, Parx Poker is #3 within several hundred miles radius behind only Borgata and (maybe) Foxwoods. This is just one recent month but it's pretty indicative of the region.

As you can see, they are doing just fine without free drinks. What reason do they have to change?

Quote:
I will take my business to a casino that appreciates it and shows me they appreciate it through player development comps.
Ah, how cute! Your evidence is that you will go elsewhere!

I hate to burst your bubble but the fact is that you are statistically insignificant. $1.3 million in a month is data and you marching your business elsewhere will not make much of a dent in it.

They are bringing in over $1.3 million a month without free drinks. Enjoy your journeys to other casinos for your free drinks. Until you take a significant portion of that $1.3 million out the door with you, Parx has no reason to change. And forgive me for doubting your ability to organize and influence people, but I have little reason to think you will be able to take enough business with you to appreciably impact Parx poker revenue.

If the Borgata and Parx were the same distance, it wouldn't even be a choice. 30 minutes to a decent room vs 90 minutes to a nicer room isn't much of a choice. If travel time wasn't an issue I'd go to the Borgata in a heartbeat.

Make no mistake, Parx isn't the Borgata.
So the guy you are referring to posts how much Parx poker room is raking in without giving anything back to players . What a fool. If the person I am referring to would go back he would see a lot of people agree that parx since they are doing so well should give something back to the players but he is too self absorbed and ignorant to do so but I appreciate him pointing out how much revenue parx is garnering and how none of that revenue is going back to the players other then 1 dollar comps an hour. It just goes to show how excessively greedy parx really is . All that revenue and nothing back to the players and he is proud of that fact it seemes. Lol.

haha it's better than arguing about drinks!

Actually i'm curious if bigger games will go semi/regularly in the city. It might bring traveling tourists in, but imo most of the "money" lives in the burbs and would prefer to stay in the burbs so to speak.

Yeah, if you walk up to the bar they'll charge you. If you order from a waitress it'll be free.

I know drinks is the reason why my friends would rather go to Sands. So there are def some number of players that are choosing other casinos over Parx because of the lack of free alcohol.

I walked by a banner advertising Parx on East Broadway in Chinatown the other day but all the writing was in Chinese...

I would also like to know if there are good options to Sands or AC to be found in Chinatown as well. It's tough to find current info on the web

all the megabus routes are run by academy. academy doesn't offer service to chinatown, which is a factor as i live in lower manhattan. the PA casinos are also attractive because vs. AC i would spend about an hour less on the buses roundtrip.

i've also heard rumors that the chinatown buses get higher casino bonuses and are cheaper tickets in general. so instead of paying academy or greyhound $37 to get a $25 bonus when going to AC, i'd like to know if there's better offers on the table.

a google search for parx chinatown buses turned up this exact thread, but it looks like the info in earlier posts from 2011 is outdated (the parx website no longer posts an asian bus schedule)

i did find this service to Sands that i will share, it provides a nice slot bonus worth more than the cost of the bus ticket, but unfortunately for me it leaves from port authority: http://www.transbridgelines.com/sched_sands.htm

any and all info you may have is much appreciated!

I know this varies from week to week, but in general what time does the second table of 6/12 OE start on a Tuesday? When you get there too early, it takes forever to get on the main table and it is usually a wait until they open second table. Thank you in advance.

Ugh Had that happen last week. 8+ on list but no dealer available. By the time it was called we ended up starting 4 handed around 6:00 after waiting 2 hours.
I don't know what's typical.

There's always a tourney on Tuesday, which is why Tuesdays kinda suck even though it's the best day.
