Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2014.06.26

Arrived around 9:15, OE had re-started after breaking during the night. After some fits/starts, O8 got going around noon (lots of names on both lists, they really should take the OE players off the O8 list when they say they will stay at OE if called).

IMO, a lot better flow to the game except for the occasional slow dealer (who slows down OE even more). Ended up being 2 tables of OE and 1 of O8.

re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

Thinking about taking the day off to do the O/8 tournament on August 4th. How many people did the last one get now that it is on Monday instead of Sunday?

Also, I really think this 8-16 O8 is hurting the OE must move games and doesn't seem to be attracting any kind of a different crowd. IMO, 8-16 isn't enough of a gap from 6-12. Should be at a minimum 10-20.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the games are too close.

What you have here is a bunch of 6-12 OE players who don't like stud, and have duped the not very bright management into creating this 8-16 game.

re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

Purely selfish point of view, I really enjoyed 8/16 O8. I'm in the camp that more chips in play=more gambool in limit games. 4/8 chips>>2/4 chips. (Likely in the minority here).

I don't argue that having both games healthy would dictate the O8 be 10/20+.

I have driven 1.5 hrs + for many years just to come play the 6/12 OE. I hope the 8/16 o8 doesn't kill it.

+1. It's a 2 hr drive for me and I am not able to make it that often but for me, 6/12 OE is just perfect on all fronts.

Agreed. If I wanted to play strictly O8 I would head down the GSP to the Borgata and in an hour jump into the 10/20 game there.

I enjoy OE and the diversity of the 2 games.

Haven't been to PARX in a while but really do hope the 6/12 game is not overtaken by the 8/16.

Well, once again I wouldn't get too worried about it. Two nights ago only OE ran, and I think the same was true last night. It is likely to remain as the dominant game, and the O8 variant will probably just continue to run in fits and spurts when the right mix of people happens to be there and the OE game is running strong enough to support it.

Why isn't the 6/12 HOE; too many LHE haters?

When 6/12 OE started, the room still spread 4/8 LHE. Last July they stopped 4/8 and only allow 3/6 or 6/12 LHE now.

The BBJ hasn't gotten high enough for those games to sprout back up again. I see 15/30 HOE on the list sometimes.

I think I've been told they won't spread 4/8 LHE anymore even when they jackpot is high. I asked when they started this Sunday night high hand thing. They'll spread 6/12 and higher LHE but it is not BBJ or high hand eligible since they take time for those games.

re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

During the week saw 10/20 O8 wait list, then earlier today a short 8/16 O8 wait list. Doesnt look like any game have gone.

Any insight on what happened? There seemed to be good interest last week in O8 in this range.

Plan on making my first visit for the Big Stax, will be booking a room for Sat through Mon three weeks in a row to play in all 3 events. Any recommendations on which hotel, I see Parx has discounts with a few surroundings. Also how is parking and is there any transport to poker room from Hotels so I don't have to deal with the parking.

Now there is no O8 list at all. Well, I guess I was fortunate to be there for the short lived peak of the Parx O8 game.

Let's not be so dramatic. I am pretty sure they called a 10-20 O8 game on Tuesday.

The 10-20 O8 game ran from 11:30 pm Tue to 1 am Wed. The last game before that was 8-16 O8 on July 13.

OK, maybe a slight over-statement-- not dead, just runs 1.5 hours in two weeks

List has either been non-existant on bravo or lists 10+ and does not go (I don't think they clear the list very well and/or are trying to avoid impacting OE).

Making my ~monthly visit next Saturday (8/2), hopefully the patient can be revived. Perfectly happy to play OE, just like the O8 better. Last time I played OE we played a lot of 5-6 handed stud.

You guys wanna play staight o8 or hoe or hose or hore, need to start showng up and playing short to fil he game in. Talking on here or in 6/12about going on a lost isn't going to get a game going. Cards in air get tables full.

Did you guys know that the 2-5 players at Parx get hurt the most by the BBJ?

Think about it... If the pot reaches $20 the drop is $1 no matter if it's at 1-2 or 2-5. Does that make sense? For example, if four players limp in 2-5 there will be a $1 drop. On the other hand, the whole table can limp in 1-2 and there still wouldn't be a BBJ drop taken. If you open raise in 2-5 there will be a bbj drop otf but if u open raise in 1-2 there is a chance that there will be no bbj drop otf.. Get my point? The current method hurts every 2-5 player's bottom dollar at the end of the year.

One might argue the fact that "there are more 1-2 tables that contribute to the bbj." This argument wouldn't hold up bc we are treating all players as equal contributors to the jackpot. Whether the bbj gets hit on 1-2 or 2-5 they get the same payout percentages. So the most fair and effective way to improve this would be to keep it proportionate to the BB. If Borgata's bbj drop is $1/10bbs on their bad beat eligible games, I don't see why Parx should be any different.

I ran this by quickly to mgmt who agreed w the argument but stated that they need to run it by the state which is a big process. Also stated that the best way to get it adjusted to $1/10bb would be to speak up. My voice alone isn't going to change the current way it's done but keep in mind that this is a poker room w super nice/competent management on staff that listens to player concerns.

Very true...I like the solution as well...seems equitable and won't change the badbeat all that much, compared to the effect it has on the individual player.

Today's special: raw broccoli, overcooked super-salty chicken on a bed of mushy rice.

Haha, I actually had the special and enjoyed it immensely. I prefer the broccoli al dente, and my rice was sticky, not mushy. The chicken may have been slightly salty, but it was 100x better than the dry **** I got on the asian salad a few nights ago.

of course, my luck ran out there. my game broke stupid early because of all the bigger games going on tonight, and I didn't feel like waiting an hour for an OE seat for the second time in one night.
