Arite, if you could toss out the final in here tomorrow (along with # of seats and the one cash payout), that would be greatly greatly appreciated. Was debating going out this weekend or next, think I'm gonna pass on this weekend and see what the turnout is.

The only buses to Foxwoods from NYC are Greyhound or Chinese.

There are 2 Chinese companies, one offers 5 trips a day to/from 9 Division Street in Manhattan. The other offers 17 trips a day to/from different locations close to Roosevelt Ave & Main Street in Flushing, Queens.

They both cost $12 upfront + $2 tip to the return driver. You get a coupon that can be used as either a free buffet, $10 food comp or a $15 matchplay. You also get a $25 matchplay and a $20 matchplay.

The seating on Chinese buses is assigned. You don't have to use the same day return seat that is assigned on your ticket. You can instead use the return ticket they give you to be seated as a standby passenger on any bus you want (from the same company) anytime over the next 3 days. One way tickets can also be purchased from return buses for $10.

Schedule here: http://www.foxwoods.com/uploadedFile...usSchedule.pdf

Greyhound runs a local bus that makes a ton of stops in between NYC and Foxwoods. The trip takes at least 4.5 hours. When you book online it costs $33.50 round trip. Make sure you are certain about the return time you want in advance because it would probably be a hassle to change later. And they only run about 2 trips per day. You get the free buffet/$10 food comp and bonus slot dollars. No matchplay.

Some elaborations.
  • Asian Buses: The bus will be infested with homeless bums who sleep on the bus, sell their match plays, gorge on the buffet, barf in the bathroom, sleep on the bus on the way back, and then catch the night bus to start the cycle over. They smell bad, and chances are, you will have to sit with them.
  • Greyhound: There seems to be exactly one bus per day in each direction that goes express to the casinos. That is the good news. The bad news is that whatever bus you catch will almost certainly be at least 20 minutes late, and may break down along the way.

Suggestion: investigate Amtrak. According to their website, they have coordinated with a bus company to take you from the New London station to the casino.

Amtrak is a minimum of about $74 and will also take you 4+ hours to arrive.

True. But for some, the comfort is worth it.

Idk. I have credit cards so I've never been in this exact situation. I suppose. I don't see why not.
You can also just call the hotel and make reservations. They've never asked for my cc# when I have done that.

What are the limit games like on Saturdays/Sundays? Will there be 20-40 LHE games or higher? How about mix games? Are the games fishy?

they always ask for a card but you can give them one that

1. is connected to a bank account that is closed
2. is connected to a pre-paid card that has no money on it

then in person just pay cash

how much negative impact do you expect the renovations/closings to have on poker the next couple of weeks?
Quote

Probably not much since the poker room is already an island, that unless you were going to Foxwoods to play poker how would you know they have a poker room.

There is no destination that would have casual gamblers pass through the poker room.

That's why I thought a Denny's or IHOP, someplace to go after the bars closed would be a good replacement for the area that was 5th street. Let some people stumble across the poker room by accident.

God, the 1/2 tables can be so ridiculous. People have to realize that this is a casino, not a damn home game.

Some kid who looks like he's 15 sits at my table today and starts off right away with comments, blah blah blah. Anyway, someone straddled and he acted like he didn't know what it was. "Is that legal? Can you do that?"... you know, being annoying even though the dealer knew him and he is a regular there. Just being an annoying smartass.. and keeps it up for 10-15 minutes, "now when are we allowed to straddle? Its so random! How do we do it again? How much is it for?" The whole time, the dealer is going along with it but laughing at him.

Then later on, he asks the dealer if there would be a penalty if he shows his cards. Keep in mind, we aren't on the river or flop.. this is PRE FLOP and he is first to act! The dealer says there isn't a penalty, and he flips over 2/7 and folds. Now, keep in mind he is a regular and he knows he's not supposed to do this, not to mention it could potentially **** with the BBJ. Anyway, half the table though he was hilarious but the rest of us was pissed off that this was allowed. Floor was eventually called, and they just told him not to do it again- but again, just like the dealer, the floor thought it was funny and had a smirk on his face about it. The unprofessionalism all around was remarkable to me. I eventually just told him to stop being a smart ass and no one thinks its funny, etc etc... he shrugged his shoulders and the routine finally ended for a while, but it really shouldn't be allowed in the first place.

Nice story about Rhode Islander James Woods on the Cardplayer website.
In case anyone is ever playing on a table with him, he loves suited connectors. When his cards come in, he wins big because you don't see it coming.
