I was in middle position with pocket 10s. Limp call pre.

3 way action Flop - 9 10 10
I have - 10 10
Player A - J 7
Player B - XX

Check

Turn - J
Player A - bet $10. I just call. Player B folds.

River - 8

He bets $40...I min raise $80 (only have $130 after the raise). He looks at his cards and says "Im all-in". I then say "OK, I insta-call."

We showed our cards and BOOM !

WOW !! Hit the gutshot for the BBJ ! Nice.

Do they AUTO w/hold taxes on your share or did you have the option to collect the full amount and file the taxes yourself later ??

I'd like to know that as well. Every time I've won a jackpot at FW I've had the option to withhold however much I want (which would include 0), though the BBJ was never one of them.

I told them to take all the taxes out. They took 25% for Fed and 6.75% for state

It was ALOT of money....now I need to get lottery Tix and OTB and win/loss statements for the next 6 months

You told me you'd been playing every day for the past few weeks. Are you going to be there this weekend? I know a little about that, collecting tickets, etc. Enough to get you in trouble as they say, or to get what you pay for. Very smart to have max tax taken. You're not going to get much in interest anyways and you can sleep easy knowing if you lose money or pay living expenses and don't have enough to pay later, well here is three words you don't want to hear from the IRS - "Interest and penalties" better to be able to say "waiting for refund"

I was saddened you didn't visit us and spread some of your gain at the plo table.

Congratulations! ... Recommend you get some professional tax advice from someone who has experience with gambling gains and losses. It will probably pay for itself.
Note: if you want to invest in a sure thing, PLO is running right now....

That sounds light for Fed, especially if you get slapped by AMT. Put some in a 6 month CD.

Ultimately he shoukd be OK because he'll be offsetting some in deductions.

You had the option to withhold nothing though, right? I think that was the ultimate question.

Nice hit man, Grats! Looks like TT is the hot BBJ hand. That's the 3rd time it has hit in the last 10 BBJ being up against J9s the last two times instead of J7h.

You see, sometimes it's not so easy to offset and that is why he needs a good tax lawyer and accountant. Better safe than sorry.

As an example, he hit 6 1/2 months into the year. So just now he's going to start collecting losers. When you do that, you also need to start showing winners as well and keep very good records. A accountant told me taking large loses to offset a win like that can be a red flag to an audit, which can be expensive even to prove your innocence The first question an IRS auditor would ask is, your first win came in July? You've played poker or whatever for 6 1/2 months and never had a winning session? Where are your records for that? Foxwood's does not keep p/l's for poker sessions as they do table games, but they do have records of you at the poker tables through the Bravo system.

Not saying taking deductions are an automatic audit, just a reason to be careful if you do. Having them take out taxes was very smart. Now find out the best way handle your losing offsets.

Was thinking about making a trip up this weekend for a tournament, I see Foxwoods has a $300 running side by side with Mohegan's $330 on Sunday. FW 20 mins for the first 25 levels, Mohegan 30 mins throughout. I know the Mohegan one is a popular one, hear it's great value. Which one are you guys gonna be playing in?

Or actually I guess the best value would be the $400 $100k tomorrow. Hmm.

I am unable to book one online. You could always call and hope for the best, but that is unlikely. Otherwise you can keep checking online 2-3 times a day and often a room will eventually pop up, won't be cheap though.
Your last option would be an off-site hotel. The closest are Hilton and Bellisimo both have shuttles.
