Going to be in town tues (late afternoon) to friday morning. Would love to get a fun mixed game going - pink chip up to 20/40 (including Badugi, Jack Daniels, Triple Draw, anything fun... etc) Will start 3 handed, from there the game will pick up as always, just need a couple players that aren't of the "oh I don't play that game" mentality.

This is Jamie, btw, text me if interested pm me if you don't have my number.

Is there a way to reserve a room without a credit card (with a debit card)?

I use my debit every time. They say they take 200 hundred dollars off of it for a deposit and put it back in a couple of days but whenever I do it they don't take a dime.

Interesting. On the Borgata website when reserving a room it states

"A major credit card is required at check-in for a $150 per night deposit for incidentals along with a $5 per night tourism fee.
Debit cards will not be accepted for this deposit."

I'm planning a big summer trip (once the Summer Open schedule comes up) and I don't have a credit card.

If your debit card says visa/MasterCard on it, it will work just like a credit card from borgatas perspective. I think they are referring to a literal debit card (where you'd have to type in your pin # when they run it...you get that option at like the supermarket)

This is correct.

If they ask if it's debit or credit, just tell them credit. But, like your previous poster said, they do have a right to put a hold on a certain amount of funds. So make sure that you have plenty of money in your account if you do this.

I'm assuming $300 will cover a two night stay?

I've always had a $150/night hold on my credit card each time I've stayed.

if you buy-in for $500 and everyone else has $1000, you have a mathematical advantage that you would not have if everyone else also had $500, even though your effective stack is the same. This is actually BETTER for you; it is NOT a disadvantage, so I don't see your point.

How far is the hotel from the event center? I have a room for Wednesday night, going to have to check in at some point during the day while I'm in the middle of the tournament

Semi-related tangent.

I had this weekend booked at the Water Club but couldn't make it down and forgot to cancel until early this morning. I called the reservation line and asked to cancel this weekend and shift it to next weekend. The woman on the phone was helpful and didn't charge me for the late change, and also offered to upgrade me to a Water Club - Vista Room. I always do my reservations online so I never have the option to book a suite or other upgraded room, so I wonder if by booking over the phone in the future I might be able to schmooze my way to a better room.

I don't go to the Borgata often anymore -- maybe once or twice a year (I mostly like to play 2/5, and I hate their short stack 2/5 game), and I've always gotten better comps by calling than using the web site.

The web site usually lists free weeknights, $100-150 Friday nights and $250-350 Saturday nights for me. On the phone, I always get free Friday nights, occasionally a free Saturday as well. I just call the reservations desk, not a host or anything.

if the check in line is short, you should be able to do it on a 15 minute break. you won't have time for anything else. if the line is >10 people deep you probably won't make it without missing hands.

They'll hold the room for you. Just call and let them know you're there, but you're checking in late.

Stan,

Can u add a black chip or 2 bounty to the 100K tourney on Jan 19? Is it too late to revise your schedule?
