Generally, months that have a tourny series aren't going to have other promos to bring people into the room.

Not sure actually. But now I'm curious. They don't have a big living room area though, just a few couches spread around. They do have a lounge with a bar across the hall near the pool. Maybe wifi there?

Not free wifi. Still have to log on and pay for waterclub wifi.

Have to walk to the casino side hall from WC to get the free casino wifi.

Make the 2/5 max $600

The fish won't notice or care and the pros will benefit

This is not a strategy forum, so I won't go into details. The basic idea, however, is that you can play a much wider/different range of starting hands at 200bb vs. 100bb. There is also a ton more turn and river play, and tougher decisions on those streets as well. You can buy in deeper to cover shorter stacked players who double up. The list goes on and on, but the game simply gets more interesting and nuanced as you get deeper.

This is amplified even more when the table ages a bit and you have several people sitting 300bb or more. As an extreme example: a table where everyone is 25bb deep vs. a table where everyone is 400bb deep are such totally different scenarios that they are almost different games.

You point out that online is usually 100bb deep. I counter that deep stack adjustment is one of the fundamental areas that many online players struggle with when they move into larger live games (5/10NL and above)

idk figured by saying my roll wasn't 10k it'd detract from anything else that may have sounded cocky but wasn't trying to come off as a baller or anything, just saying that people who feel they are good enough to play 2/5 but don't have the roll would probably rather play 500 max than 1000 max.

Then buy in for 500.

I've never understood why people think that not buying in for max puts them at a disadvantage.

However, what I can understand is that a majority of players think this way, and therefore the max will never get raised.

I vaguely touched on it in my tldr post but I just prefer having as much control of the table and the game as possible. I wouldn't say it puts me at a disadvantage but I would prefer to have the max. I was mainly just trying to point out the thinking behind it (and how others might think) as a point for why the max at Borgata should not be changed.

You do not have "control of the table" because you have the most chips. This is a tournament concept that fundamentally does not translate to cash games.

Needing to sit with max buy-in is usually more of an ego thing than any other factor.

I guess I answered incorrectly...if I feel I have an edge on the table then I want to have the max so that I can get the most money in possible when playing a big pot. AA>KK vs the big stack with 1000 is a $500 win more than AA>KK vs big stack with 500.

This is more theoretically related though than Borgata related so if you wanna keep talking about it just shoot me a PM.

Exactly (well, sorta.)

So, you admit that:
a) it's better to have $1000, so you should be in favor of a larger cap.
b) buying for $500 at a $1000 cap is the same as buying for $500 at a $500 cap table.

clorox wins most (only) rational poster in this specific argument imo. but also, it should go to strat forum soon.

[QUOTE=Ruler of the East;36495190]Time for a live game report Friday 5:30pm

Hey Stan,

In the future, can u schedule the 1 million tourney day 1A on Thursday instead of Tuesday? It's easier to take Thursday and Friday off then Tuesday to Friday. I am sure u'll get more players if u scheduled the big tourney toward the weekend.

This tournament will sell out. In Sept we had over 3700 entrants. 200+ did not get in. I want to get the word out that you need to be here early on Wednesday, very early. The best thing to do is play day1A on Tuesday. We had over 1100 seats sold by midnight the night before. Anyone not in line by 8:30am Wednesday morning probably did not play.

This sounds good.

1. If someone were to register online, which cashier accepts the rest of the money and processes the registration?

2. Are all of the events going to be held in the event hall?

3. With as many players as are expected to be played in event 1, which is scheduled for two days, what are the chances that this event will be extended to play in more than two days?

Thanks.

1. We have a cashier upstairs in the event center that will register on-line only.

2. All should be played upstairs but some tournaments will be big enough to also be played in the poker room.

3. This tournament can not be extended. Are you talking about making a day 1C? We already have events scheduled for Thursday.

Stan, I think he meant the tournament going into Day 3

Exactly.

It would be great to do well in the tournament. But playing the second day of event 1, on Thursday the 17th, through the night past dawn until Friday afternoon of the third day for 24 hours or more would be difficult for some people.
