wat

I can believe they cleaned the room mistakenly, but I'm shocked there wouldn't be a procedure for when the irate customer shows up and wants their stuff back.

haha, wow, that's ridiculous. I will say that one thing that sort of irritates me is that the cleaning staff seems....overly enthusiastic...about cleaning the room.

My situation:
1) I do NOT like my room being cleaned when I am in it (I think its weird to have my stuff gone thru, has nothing to do with concern about theft), so I just leave the busy sign up.
2) I normally stay up very late and sleep very late when at the borgata (2PM or later.)

-Their policy seems to be to call, multiple times, to ask if you want your room cleaned (always wakes me up)
-If I dont answer (normally too sleepy and dont get to the phone in time), I have had them knock on my door, and when I dont answer they simply come in despite the sign more than once. Also have had them unlock the door, open it slightly, and then close it on multiple occasions... IDK whats up with that.

TBH it kind of irritates me because I feel like I have no privacy in my room, and no way to lock the housekeepers out when I am not in the room, so it sort of makes me feel forced to stay in my room during regular cleaning hours to make sure no one comes in...

Obviously ive had nothing like this happen, but this horror story now makes me even more nervous about leaving my room unattended.

well, if you're in the room, just close the latch so they can't open the door (without bolt cutters)

I've also disconnected the phones on occasion so they can't call me (that is truly annoying imo)

I have been going to the Borgata and staying in a room pretty much every week since November. That's a lot of stays. I put the Do Not "Tidy Up" or whatever it's called on the door when I go to bed.

My policy when I go to a hotel is I do not want the room cleaned. At all. Ever. I am not a slob, I keep the room very clean on my own, and I don't want the bed made at all either. I also have an aversion to housekeeping since having $900 ripped off by the Tropicana housekeeping staff some years ago.

In any case. In all the time I have been going to Borgata I have never had the housekeeping staff violate the sign. They don't knock. They don't call. They just simply ignore my room when the sign is on the door and the room does not get cleaned. Which is exactly what I want.

I go more or less every weekend and they ignore the sign quite often. I've also had them either take the sign off or flip it around and then clean my room while I'm downstairs.

I heard from someone that they have to do a certain number of rooms to get paid and if they don't reach that number they have to go to another floor or something so that's why they do everything they can to get in your room (including asking to call in on your phone that the room has been done).

You just have to be super vigilant and tell them not to clean your room in strong, clear language and they will leave you alone most of the time.

And it goes without saying--don't leave anything of value in your room ever, even for a short period of time.

I've also had experienced where the maid service ignores the signs, but this generally only happened after their third or fourth go-around.

Is it possible to tell the person at the desk when you check in that you do not want to be disturbed at all?

That is what I'd like to know also. I am going on Thursday and I will try to specify "do not clean" at check-in and see what they say.

I always flip those on people's doors while I'm walking down the hallways. So you shouldn't blame housekeeping. Lol

The second part of my post is to the 2 plus 2 commuinty and doesnt really have any negativity towards the poker room at all. What happened was that I had a 1 night stay in the Borgota hotle and decided to extended my stay and play.(Stan also helped out in this) SO I went to the front desk got new key cards and extended my stay before 11am that day. I then left the room around 2pm and return around 6pm only to find the room totally cleaned and everything I had in room gone! (tooth brush, luggage clothes ipod ect ect) House keeping had cleaned the room and cleared out all my stuff thinking I had only a 1 day stay, which was not the case. It then took nearly 2 hours to finally get ahold of security and speak with a supervisor and finally get ahold of someone who might beable to help. They could pretty much careless and were clueless. They were unable to help me locate my stuff when it was clear it was the fault of the Borgota. The only thing that I personally was able to locate was on my own through calling lost found and it was my oakley sun glasses which are custom made for me and quite expensive. Nothing eles was located and security was borderline rude to me and made me feel like it was my fault. I had to ask to have Ac police dispacted about halfway through as the Borgota security was being so unhelpful with me. They basically told me I had to wait 5 days for the investion to complete and then call back. The police said it was internal matter lol ( since when is theft not a crime lol) So here I am with only the clothes on my back and not even a tooth brush for the night and my bus ticket home gone as well. So what did the borgota do for me...? Nothing absoultely nothing, I never even got an apology from anyone. The matter is still pending, I was just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone eles?

I've never left all my luggage in a room, but my girlfriend has forgotten an iPod and her earrings (she has like 13 piercings between her 2 ears so it wasn't just 1 pair) and they just send you to security for the lost and found who inevitably tells you nothing was turned in. They should definitely have a better procedure in place for this. One that doesn't have 3 different departments of the casino failing to communicate with each other and inevitably just losing everything.

Actually...unless it changed it think $3 goes to the city. Anything above goes to the casino.

This seems to be the general consensus. Can't really disagree. Just quit blaming the housekeeping staff.
Btw, this is fun to do when you're drunk. As well as screaming through the halls at 2:30am.

the housekeeping staff at Borgata I find to be the best trained at observing 'do not disturb' signs, which i tape onto the door using scotch tape, - make sure you check your room twice before you check-out for any items you may be leaving behind, and due to the 11 am check-out, I now play during the day and sleep at night, - sleeping in past your check-out time not recommended...

I'm pretty sure that just hanging the one on the doorknob works just as well.

I've had them call and knock around 2pm or later if I haven't left the room and left the sign up. As someone else mentioned, I am very clean and don't need my bed made every day if it's just me sleeping in it.

Sometimes, when heading downstairs, I will just stop and exchange some dirty towels with the housekeepers. As long as I don't run out of towels, I don't need them in my room.

Excatly, they dont even seem remotley intrested in helping you, and truth be told Its alot more then just clothes and luggage I lost, I didnt want to post all details but I lost over a 1,000 plus in items, its 6 days now and I called 3 times and left my name and a messege to call me back and still nothing, unforchunelty I'm very close to getting a lawyer and handling that way, and sending them bill for my legal fees.

What happened at the trop? did you get compensation? Funny Thing is when I left the room I personally told the 2 housekeeps dont clean my room its fine and that im staying an extra day, (they dont even hardly speak english) This whole sistuation has been a nightmare, I dont think I will be staying at the Borgota again comped or not,as there are no cameras on the hallway floors(which is a joke) and I dont feel my possessions are safe there.

I case it matters (and to maximize the trainwreck potential) I make sure to tip housekeeping every day.

Yeah TY, I think what happened was that it ended up in lost in found and then sticky fingers found there way in. Just so dissapointed as a customer on how the borgota made litterally no effort to comp me for even a 5 dollar gift shop card so i could get a toothbrush for that night, I had to buy it myself and everyone you talk to besides security says its not there department and they cant help, what happened to customer satisfaction....? My first time staying there and as pretty of a hotle as it is my last time if Im not compensated for my possessions that they lost!
