I think it has more to do with the games that have a bigger house edge x dollar per hour x # of hours played. That's why slot players get more comps.

the best thing you can do at ANY casino, is before you show your cards, ask the dealer if it is okay to turn your hand over (and it remains not killed).

If the dealer says it is okay, then I'd be hard pressed to see the floor override it and kill your hand. Prob a warning in that situation... but in general you should ask the floor before you sit down what the local rule is.

I've never been at a home game where HU hand exposure wasn't allowed. Adds to the fun I think.

If I'm getting in after a tourney starts, could I just let a friend buy me in using my B card, and get blinded out till I arrive? Or what's the best option for this? Specifically looking at the monthly freeroll tourney, starts at 11, but I won't be in till 1 or 2.

My general understanding is as follows, using blackjack as an example: the casino knows that generally they deal "x" hands of blackjack an hour. They also know they generally win 55% of the time. So if you're sitting at a table betting $50/hand for an hour, they can approximate how much they win from you $50/hand * (x hands per hour) * (win rate).

From there they will give you back a certain percentage of your estimated losses (I think around 10-20%). Those are you comp dollars.

So yes it doesn't matter whether one person really wins or loses, because they know on average across all players over time they are going to make x dollars per hour.

IMO if you're playing $50/hand at any table game other than poker then you should be getting free weekends

They say they don't know how much you winor lose, but they do. They note how much you buy in for at a table game, and they note how much you color up to at the end. It's not all formulaic.

Whoever was talking about how far away you live from borgota they base your comps is spot on. After my first trip to the borgota. (15 hours at 5/10, maybe 5 hours of table games which I played the $50 min crap table, and playing roughly $50 a hand playing BJ) and they comped me weekends for the next 3 months.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I live approx. 7 hours away.

Rumor is that they're going to be testing a 3rd man walking rule at 10/20 holdem, possibly starting monday

I'd much rather they fix the must-move system that causes these problems by ensuring all the people who do this are on the same table.

I'd rather the old nits just suck it up and play 6 handed for 3 friggin hands but that's way too much to ask. They'd rather throw 3 dollars away waiting than play one damn hand with less than 7 players at the table.

I'm with Bremen on the must-move system, there should be no more than one must move game at any time. Those who actually want to play get stuck waiting at a table that they can't transfer out of.

I've heard on many occasions people complain because they don't want to move to the main game with the people in the main game.

I don't know percentages, but some people def take their free hands and leave rather than play with "those people" which then just causes more people to move, which breaks games quicker.

I know I've sat out the hour many times for similiar reasons.

agreed ahhhh why cant they see it like we see it? Its not even about me betting 50 a hand avg its the time i play BJ.... I play avg (atleast last last time i was there) 12 hrs a day you know your playing alot of BJ when people go to lunch and dinner and your still playing from the morning, i see it like i dont have the luxury to take a 15 min drive to a casino so i would rather get my gambling in as much as i can when in AC. Ive heard other casinos give better comps, and as per my friends they said if i was gambling the way i do at any other casinos i would be vip status, just not at the borgata..... anyone agree/disagree?? and what about having a host anyone know anything about that?? what type of play do you need for that?

I noticed that once I start getting free rooms, they will keep showing up on the calendar up to 3 months out until I go back. Once I use one of these stays the offers will change based on how much I played and can disappear if I dont play enough. This is why I book every weekend once I see comped rooms since they can change and once they are booked they are locked in as comps. If I dont go I just call on Thursday to cancel. I logged into my account while I was there last time and the rates were changing constantly, so there must be some automatic system that determines this stuff, but last few times I mostly played slots.

Must move systems are alwasy a disaster. I remember playing something at Taj with a mustmove a decade ago and it was always a constant argument of who is next, I am next, I should be in front of him, I don't want to move, I do want to move, I want to move from the main game to the must move.

im debating if i want to play at borgata or a boardwalk room next Wednesday night through thursday night.(Im comped at trump plaza) I so far have played 1-2 at delpark 3 times on sunday afternoons and have played at clubs and at home games over the years

At del park i had a good handle for the play except for 1 costly mistake and lost my profit from the other 2 times. I dont want to head up to borgata if i will bust out within a hour. Any suggestions? Would i be better off coming to borgata or checking out a boardwalk room?

I've never heard of any rooms on the boardwalk. Borgata, the only poker room in AC worth going to imo

If you're playing 1/2, you'll have the same games ever where you go including Borgata. Honestly if you were looking for an alternative to Borgata, I say avoid the Boardwalk, Harrahs is the place to consider (I'm biased because I playthere). It's also a quick trip/ 10minwalk to Borgata if you'd like to try both. Even with Revel coming to AC, when it comes to poker, the Marina outpaces the boardwalk. Borgata is the Ace and the King and Harrah's is the Queen.

I think there's a misperception amongst newbies that since Borgata has the best poker room, they also have the toughest players. Not true. In fact I think Borgata excels in the "bad players who think they're good because they've played a lot" category.

I would say that Borgata has the highs and the lows of game selection. There have been many week days when I've played there where its all the same faces pushing blinds back and forth on a 1/2 game. Then of course there are some nights where the club kids are out and the action on the games are insane.

Personally, I prefer something in between all-in every hand and chopping blinds.
