Is there a substitute perk if you make enough hours for the free roll but are not going to play it?

No, unless you include the offers you will receive for those hours played, and the comp dollars that you received and the entertainment and fun that you had. The great memories you will cherish forever. I could go on and on.

Awesome answer, Stan.

I'm really interested to see what kind of turnout the KO tournaments get. Should be great games!

Hi Stan. Few questions. 1) Is there any bonus comp dollars offer for the month of July, based on 50+hours. 2) is there a way to get a black Card in advance lol? Like I'm a 2/5 borgata reg now, ever since online poker went down on April 15. I used to play professionally online for the past 2.5 years. Now I'm at borgata 4-5 days a week playing 2/5 nl. I logged 145 hours since April 15 and plan on playing 100 hrs a month at borgata through the rest of th year. That would mean that it will probably take me till mid October to get my 500 hours for black card. Is there a way I could get it in advance, knowing that I'm gonna log full time hours for the rest of the year. I'm only asking for a black card so I can get $10 buffet each night. Right now $32 buffet is too expensive so I rarely go to the buffet. Also, if I eat the buffet every night, I will be healthier and play more hours lol, thus benefiting the borgata with more rake. So I would mostly be using my black card for the buffet and not much else, since I already get two nights a week free and I use those two nights each week.

Wish you could have done a search, but I'll answer since i'm in a good mood. 1/2 is the same as anywhere else, mostly weak players with a few excetpions. There are 1/2 tables literally going 24/7, there will probably be only a handful at 3 am tuesday. There is a free card, ask the front desk of the poker room or go to the guest services area near the front entrance.

We have 20 of them running right now. With that said, you will find some tough ones, easy ones, and enjoyable ones. Every 1-2 game is different. If you do not like the one your in, just as for a table change. I find that most games will change by themselve after a couple of hours. People get up, new ones sit down. Just like the weather, if you don't like it now, just wait an hour or two.

The limits (for LHE) are 5 and 10 for the 5/10 and 10 and 20 for the 10/20. For NLHE the betting limits are nonexistent

That's really interesting. There is no way this game is going full? It's short-handed right?

I'm not sure if this post belongs here, or elsewhere. Feel free to delete if there's no spot for it.

I finished my session at the Borgata and decided to try out the The Old Homestead Steakhouse (after previously eating at Bobby Flay's).

I ordered a bottle of wine (a cheap one) and the waiter went into a long story (while opening my wine) about how someone had once ordered wine from him at some other restaurant and then told him "that's not the wine I ordered" after he and his guest finished it. He continued the story (the guy was drunk and the girl was "crazy" and probably someone the guy picked up off the street). After the manager was called the guy was made to pay for the wine.

I wasn't sure why he told me this story, and frankly, I didn't appreciate it. I did let it slide though.

During my meal, he and other workers were rushing to fill my wine glass and I'm a person who likes to pour my own wine, primarily since a complex wine can change subtly from glass to glass and I desire that experience. There are also times when I don't want staff hovering over me. The wine was cheap so it downgraded after time rather than improving or showing some character, but that's not the story. I asked the waiter not to pour my wine for me since I liked to do it myself, and explained, in a humorous way, that I had a personal relationship with my wine so "please don't touch my wine bottle" as I laughed, implying that, of course, I was requesting this in a good natured way. This seemed to shock him (his English was adequate but I think I went way over his head) but the staff complied, and for the one or two that didn't know, I just held my hand over the glass. No problem.

The steak was their Signature Steak, a ribeye, and it was a C quality steak (edible and with some flavor). I had way better steaks at the Metropolitan (Borgata, casual dining), and the Plate (a "quick" diner at the Taj). Okay, no big deal, I didn't complain.

Almost at the end of my dinner, the waiter comes over and starts insisting (in a good natured enough way) that he be allowed to pour the last of my wine into my glass since it doesn't look good to the manager that no one is pouring my wine and the manager doesn't know what the problem is. I think to myself, "There is no problem, explain to your manager that I like to pour my own wine," but at this point I'm in no mood to ask that my eating and drinking wishes be complied with so I let him pour my wine, he shakes my hand, and I think "Is this guy a nut or what?"

Now I pay for the dinner with comp and only have to charge my card about 10 bucks plus tip (I gave them a $20 tip for an after tax total of $88).

Now get this, the waiter, and I've never seen one do this before, comes over while I'm still sitting at the table and actually looks at how much I tipped him (opens the check holder), and then makes a face, in approval of my tip, but as if he's surprized that I actually tipped that much, not that he didn't think I couldn't have tipped more (trust me, all that was all over his face). I leave it alone.

On my way out the manager gives me the same "I'm too important to take note of you look" that he gave me when I arrived to make reservations.

A C grade "Signature Steak", cheap wine, to be sure I didn't order a great wine, but they could ensure their $31 generic "table" wines, don't have a distinctive "I'm a cheap wine" finish, a crazy waiter, and a "too important" manager, or whatever he wants to call himself. I'll keep going to Bobby Flay's and the other restaurants in Borgata. The Old Homestead was okay in NYC when I ate there; the one in Borgata has problems.

Hopefully this will save someone grief.

That's a horrible dinner. I would have crossed out his tip after he did that. And then maybe insisted on talking to the manager.

What's a C-grade steak? Never heard of this kind of grading on cuts of beef.

It's just a term I use to rate steaks. A is great, B is decent enough (pretty good) but certainly not great, and C is a steak that has enough flavor to pass as a steak, but should not be served in a steak house. Just my way of saying I didn't like the steak.

I was feeling too good after my wine to cross out the tip. I thought about relating my experience to the manager, but since he's "too important" to pay much attention to me, I'll save myself the experience and just eat elsewhere.

Wow, he gave you someone else's steak? That's an odd line to tell a customer who may one day not have his steak delivered in a timely fashion since it was given to someone "really" hungry.

Arriving tomorrow with the wife for three days... I love a good steak, but SO looking forward to the scallops robatayaki at Izakaya. And then donating some money to the regs in hopes of sharing a BB jackpot. See y'all there.

I've eaten at the old homestead and had a very positive experience. Unfortunately, dinner experiences have a disproportianate amount of weight simply due to the server. In this case, you just got a "weird" server. That behavior isn't normal.

I used to be a server and I never, not once, looked at a tip that was left for me until the check was in the back of the house, out of everyone's view. It's rude. Even if someone handed me money I did my best to not look at it and thank the person, then look at it after they've left the room/area.

I had a great dinner just a few months ago at a place down in the Annapolis area, where everything was great except one comment by the waiter where he asked me why I wanted the dinner check split up on 2 credit cards, but both were mine. He said something like "may I ask why you would like it split on two of your own cards?" I came extremely close to saying "no, you may not", and my best friend looked at the waiter funny as he asked this also (he later said "wtf does he care how someone pays?"). The reason was because I expense accounted one entree and app and then I paid for my guests meal on my own card so not to charge my company any extra money. I explained all of this to the server and the whole time I was asking myself why I'm even explaining this to this turd.

For some reason it just annoyed me. Not a big deal, but it's the thing I remember the most about an otherwise very nice dinner.
