I have played a ton of 2/5 and 5/10 at the Borgata. The only thing I would change is the min buy-in at 2/5 from 100 to 200. Putting a 1k cap on 2/5 would kill the game, period. Its just too big of a jump from 1/2. Some of the "fish" will go bakc down to 1/2, and some of the others who normally give a ton of action and play lose and wild will tighten up because the game is so much bigger. the 2/5 player pool has a big overlap with the 5/10 player pool and I see a huge difference in the way these people play when they change limits.

Simpler terms:

Screwing with the buy-in on the game below will kill the games above. Making 2/5 buy-in 1k will wreck the 5/10+.

Borgata has the best 2/5 within 500 mile radius, why anybody would want to change it is beyond me. Just play 5/10 or w/e.

Its unreal how many people think raising the min buyin to 200 or 250 will change the game. Stan can you give raising the min buyin a shot for a couple of weeks and see how it does.

Re: The higher buy in games are tested and successful at parx, sands, Chester and Delaware. With Borgata being the gold standard on the east coast I don't think they should be spreading the smallest games.

Borgata has something different that works very well. I only play 2-5 NL at the Borgata because I love the games and I love the flexibility of buying in for $500, $100, or some other amount in between as I am inspired to do, let other cardrooms do something else. Having the courage to try something a little different and I would argue 'better' brings me to the Borgata every week!

Apparantly you also think it will change the game, or you wouldn't be asking for a change in buyin. The difference is you think it will make the game better, while some others think it will make the game worse.

Raising the buy in makes players lose larger sums of money faster . It destroyed high stakes NLH online , turned it into a sitout / bum hunt fest.

A player will reach into his pocket 10 times to reload that 100 or 200 but how many times is he going to reload the 1k ?

If you want more money on the table just move up , does it really matter at the end of the month how you won the 5k your up ? 10 easy sessions or one big nite its still 5k , but if you blow out all the rec players and WPT ,High Stakes Poker and Poker after Dark fans your going to be stuck with a losing or break even month of poker and a future of more of the same

And 1/2 PLO is a great game . You dont even need 2/5 PLO . Last session there were 15-20 pots of 500$$$$ or 250bb or better in a 5 hour session !!!!!

Raising the buy in"s will kill the games and kill all your action

Wow that was a pretty overly dramatic post in response to moving the 2-5 min buy-in from $100 to $200. Sounds like if we do that it will be the end of the poker world as we know it, who knew?!

btw you comment about "if you want more money on the table just move up".... well that's kind of the point. People who move up from 1/2 to 2/5 expect more money on the table, not $100 buy-ins....

Its about making the buy in 1k , not about 100$ buy ins or moving up too 2/5 . People wont sit in games with huge stacks,, your scaring the fish away

Its only overly dramatic when your game is full of tuff regs and your edge is reduced to getting comps .......

Is there going to be a WPT stop this September at the Borg? I played in event one last year which I believe was the Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor day and have the same week off this year. Would like to play again.

I'm surprised so many people are against the bigger buyin. If that is the case then perhaps there is no reason to "fix" it from the houses perspective. While I still think 200/700 would be ideal, it sounds like at least going to 200/500 would be a good start

I dont think anyone is strenuously objecting to raising the minimum, just raising the maximum. Raising the min buyin to $200 would be fine, but it wouldnt really change the game much since people dont buy in for $100 very often anyway. You cant change it to $250 because you cant buy $250 in chips at the Borgata cage unless you want to turn 2/5 into a pink chip game.

hoping to get down there for sat night all night super gambling 40/80 full out drunk bonanza. those that have played with me before know they're in for a night of fun!
