Maybe you play PLO at much higher stakes than I do, but at 1/2, I have never faced a table where the majority are competent players. Even facing a rare circumstance, with 6 competent players in a 9 or 10 handed game, it would still be profitable and far from boring.

I have no experience playing live PLO but donked around a bit online. There is no way the average 1/2 PLO table is competent and I've never found PLO to be boring. It may not be for everyone since it's swingy but that is certainly not "boring".

Let me give you a specific example. I was sitting playing poker today and the 'announcer' called people to the table for my favorite game. I promptly sat down at the table. Two floormen came over, noted that I was the only person sitting at the table, got my initials, and reported to the announcer that the game did not go...The announcer looked over, noted that I was the only one sitting at the table and loudly announced to the room in a confident voice that the game was a 'go.'
Eight players promptly came over to the table and the game was started.

Q. How hard did the Borgata try to start the 1-2 PLO game on Saturday night? True, they didn't have the services of this 'announcer'...

I was at Borgata for the first time Friday, and I must say I was very impressed. The 2/5 NL table I was at was very loose with a lot of money going into pots. Not sure if every table is like this, but I am sure it can be very profitable. I am hoping to make it back in September. Keep up the great work!

Just a question about the lower stakes mixed games, i saw mentioned that there is a 4/8 horse game and a pink chip game sometimes, what are the suggested buy ins for what do most people buy in for? i have some experience online with mixed games and find them a fun alternative to NLHE so would be willing to give it a shot if i could afford it

The most common buyins seem to be anywhere from 1X to 5X the minimum buyin. As they are limit games, the stack size isn't as big as a consideration as no limit, though buying in for more than a few times the minimum buy-in would probably be a good idea so you don't deplete the rack faster.

For 4/8 I'd buy in for 200. The max you can put in per hand is 14 BBs i believe(although very rare) and it's also nice to have some leeway if you lose a bit. 7.5/15, I would think 1 rack(250) plus 1-3 rows of pink(50-150) would be enough.

But yea, the buy in amount doesn't matter in limit games unless u buy in very short.

when do the stud games usually get going, is that only on weekends and what limits are they spreading these days ... thanks

Most common non-mixed is 20-40. I'm not sure how often it runs, but I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread.

However, you can expect OE Pink chip (7.5/15) often and perhaps some 15/30 ROE this weekend.

Lower limit 4/8 HORSE might also run, though that might require some planning.

Saturdays are best for me, anytime after 2PM or so.

I haven't played a 4/8 mixed game in almost two years. There was a group of 2+2'ers that got the game off the ground 3-4 Saturdays in a row in 09'. Sadly, it never caught on. Glad to see it has a chance of resurfacing.
