Yeah, is it appropriate to make a mental note of his name and report him later to a floor person? I thought about it but wasn't sure if it was nitty/douchey of me.

2/5 at Borgata during a series def. makes guys like you take another look at your online winrate though right?? lol
Yeah I know, but it's like not only is the table not interacting with him but it's like they are intentionally trying to ostracize him. It's like they think he doesn't belong in their "good players club" and so they are going to punish him because he overplays QQ preflop or some crap.

But yeah I'm sure it's also easier to be less emotional about the game when you've played a few mil hands online Hey btw man, are you a reg in terms of coming down to the Borgata for a few days semi-often? What do you do for accommodations?

Ok.. and continuing on the subject of appropriateness in live pokerz, I moved seats twice to get direct position on a fish. The other players at the table didn't seem to mind, but I felt bad about doing it. (And the fish moved to retake position on me the first time I did it)

If I'm playing 5/10 or 10/25 or something where there are more winning regs, are they going to get pissed at me or make comments about it, or is it more accepted live than online?

I don't utilize the seat change option unless I have someone really obnoxious or smelly sitting next to me, I'm not in one of my preferred seats (on the corners--usually 2/3 or 7/8 on a 9-handed), or there's two uberfish sitting next to each other and a seat opens up to their left (or to their right if they're absolute maniacs).

If someone is a reasonably informed player, even if he's bad at poker, he'll know what you're doing. But that shouldn't be any reason for him to get offended: either he can adjust and take your money because of your image of him or he can't. I'd be fine with someone moving to my left if I knew it was because he thought I was a fish because I'd be able to make adjustments to make the guy who moved make a big mistake at some point down the road.

If you're moving to the left of a newbie or drooler, you can just tell him/her that you have a feeling that the new seat is lucky or the old seat was running cold.

Pippen. I was at 60k at the 200-400 level, then lost it in 10 almost consecutive hands - mostly due to my inability to make anything about 4-5 KKxx hands and two bad pre-flop calls. Managed to get two super-short (sub 2k) stacks up into the 20k+ range along the way.

Speaking of meltdowns, anyone enjoy my Sunday night spew at the 1/2 cash game?

wow, this is a pretty big change. Hopefully this is a sign that the poker economy is getting better. Very excited for February 20th, but unfortunately I'll be in Las Vegas. Probably saving $340 anyway, now I feel better about playing the Venetian Deep Stack Event since i was going to be playing the PLO at the exact same time.

I actually tell fish they are tilting, but in a nice way... because then later on they can blame their massive losses on tilt instead of sucking, which means they keep coming bad.

But even I find myself telling off a fish for sucking on occasion...not so much in live poker, at least not to this point, but online. I realize it's long term EV-, but sometimes its EV+ to you... Also, sometimes I prod fish just to get them to follow me around to show me that they are better than me lol.

Just out of curiosity Stan, dunno if you mentioned something about it in the thread or someone asked you the question, but any thoughts either personally or from Borgata's perspective about the Online Poker bill? I would hope Borgata would start up an internet room, god I don't want to play a Harrah's room if I don't have to.

There are a few ways of getting the poker rate:

1) You can call into the reservations desk and ask for it. If you have a card and are getting poker offers, the phone representative can give you the rate over the phone. There is also a tournament rate that is valid for now that you should be able to get by calling in.

2) You can ask the pit boss at the front desk of the poker room. I've never asked for the rate there before, but if it is available, they should be able to help you.

3) E-mail Stan. Stan is very helpful and should be able to get you the rate if a room is available.

I was there for a few days, playing some tourneys and Borgata 2/5. Good action at the 2/5 game. The tourneys, meh. Honestly, I've never encountered so many issues with dealers as I did in those tourneys. I don't typically complain, and some of the tourney dealers wearing blue polos (presumably the temps) were fantastic, but some were just plain terrible. Twice I saw some action, a raise had been called but the action had stalled while one player was thinking, and after that person decided to fold, the dealer forgot that there was a called bet and dropped the bet and tried to ship the pot, despite two people having cards. One all-in pot, the dealer did not count down the two people's chip stacks to see if the winner had the loser covered or how much the bet was. The losing player was counting his stack and the other guys and everyone at the table was trying to help, but it was a cluster****, caused primarily by the dealer not doing her job of just counting the bets out and fixing the pot.

I'm so used to good service at the Borgata that I really was just shocked at how bad some of the tourney dealers were. Somebody in a managerial role who knows what they are doing should be working on this and weeding out or giving major guidance to these dealers who don't know what they are doing.

After playing in the deepstack and then deep-stack semi-turbo, I was done with tourneys after some of the stuff I saw there.

But the seat just sat there empty for like a half hour and finally i was like **** it, so i announced to the dealer that i was taking that seat, and then went and had dinner for a half hour and just left my chips in my new seat. I had about 2k at that time, I think he had like 1kish.

When I came back he just continued to run in God mode and was like spiking strange two pairs and backdoor flushes all over the place and he gets up to the 2k range as well. Preflop he would go quiet for long stretches and then start limp/rring people very small, like limp... someone raises to 15, someone overcalls, he makes it 35. So once he got into this mood he seems to just start playing anything for stretches, so I started just flattng behind him with a bunch of stuff.

Nothing really eventful is happening, he lmprr, I flat ATdd.. flop is like JJ2r, he checks, i check, german guy checks. Turn is 5d brings me a flush draw, he bets 50, I make it 140, german guy folds, crazy guy calls. River blank and he checks and I (pretend) frustration check behind and he shows 99. But inside I'm like thrilled at the way the hand played because now I'm starting to establish some history with the guy and you know how tilty/suspicious he can get. Plus I figure he must hate me for following him around the table.

So literally like 5 hands later, he raises I flat with JJ, german guy calls. Flop J32ss, he bets 100, I think for a while and throw out 3 blacks. He announces all in, and I fastroll the JJ. He looks at his cards with disgust and slams them into the muck!!! AA!!! Still has 10% equity!!! Mucked on the flop!!!!!!!!! At that point I had 1600 and he had 1750 and he just sat there with his little stack while the entire table yammered on and on about his play.

I know this is getting long, but..

Why do live players feel the need to tap the fish tank so consistently, so blatantly, so loudly. I mean we all know this mofo is a tiltmachine, so why are you doing everything in your power to drive him out of the game. This tilts me sooo hard. I'd rather be slowrolled every session I play than have people chasing away the biggest fish at the table. I realize that most of the people that do it are amateurs and don't realize what they're doing is terrible for the game, but it's still extremely frustrating.

Hey Stan.

Next Wednesday, February 2 (Ground Hogs Day) Event 24 will take place - $170 + 30 $50K guarantee with 2 re-entries. These events tend to be all out donk-fests, with Zippos shoving with a pair of 7's in the hole and their rebuy in their back pocket. These insane melees need just one thing to take it over the top - a knock out bounty.

Yeah, just when you think it can't get any wackier, I bet that a $10 KO bounty would juice it into overdrive. Sure, it will take away from the proze pool, but with 2 re-entries, you'll get to the 50k easily.

What do you say?

Thanks to the snow, I didn't have to go into work today. So I shoveled myself out and drove to the Borg's smoke-free room for some 2/5 NL action this afternoon. Glad I did. Tons of action from the start, many easy-to-read, loose players chasing every draw, pushing all-in with one pair on wet boards, paying off my value bets like there was no tomorrow. [brag]After profitting $1,600 in less than five hours[/brag], the time was right to call it a day and have dinner at the good ol' Borgata Buffet for $10 comp dollars. God I wish I could get there more often.

I'll say it again: There is some good money to be made at 2/5 NL at the Borg!

I think that the amount of large amount of bad dealers just has to do with numbers. There are so many people playing these tournaments during the opens that there is just naturally going to be a fair amount of dealers that are under-qualified. I agree that its extremely annoying and I would like to less of them, particularly in the bigger buy in tournaments.
