simple question, and I already assume the answer is "yes", but do you need to have a borgata card in order to register for the daily tourneys? As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'll be coming up next week mon-wed, but staying at another property where I currently have some comp room offers, but am interested in playing the 11am at Borgata next Wednesday on my way out of town. I'm trying to decide if it's better to stop at Borgata to sign up for a card on my way into AC, or if I will have enough time if I show up at around 10 or 10:30 wednesday to sign up and register. Is it easy to find where to sign up and to find the poker room?

short answer is yes, you need the card to sign up for the tourneys. because of the guarantee, wednesdays get busy, but you would have plenty of time getting there at 10 or 10:30. g/l

btw, i suggest you swing by and play cash there as well. great game selection, room, etc.

Yes, you need a Borgata card to play in any of the daily tourneys at Borgata.
I wouldn't make a special trip ahead of time to just get the card. On Wednesday morning, just follow the signs to the "My Borgata Rewards" counter to get your card (I've noticed some players say you can get one in the poker room but I've never seen that). You can easily reach the poker room by parking in the "surface lot" (on the far right lane as you enter the complex).
You can register up until the end of the second level (approx. 11:40AM). There will likely be a long line to register due to the $15,000 Wednesday morning guarantee. Not to worry. Being shut out is rare.
Expect around 300-350 runners.
Good luck.

Card upgrade was mentioned based upon what level you're at with Harrah's. I'm a Seven Star member with Harrah's...I'm assuming I would be eligible for a card upgrade when I visit later this month? Is the upgrade worth it? I'm staying at Harrah's when I come, only because it's included free in the Seven Star trip, but plan on doing all my playing at the Borg, as that's where the action appears to be.

Stan, care to weigh in?

Well after a nice vacation, I obviously need to conclude the most entertaining WPT episode. The poker is ok, but this Jeremy Brown is hilarious. He KOs a player, chugs a beer, and asks a man for a cocktail. Who is this man? Is it none other than our man Stan! Stan asks if he is sure and gives him a playful tap on the shoulder and goes back to his work. I hope that was as awesome for you as it was for those who know you Stan the Man.

Stan is good for that.

Before I ever met Stan, I had a spell where I was angry about the (lack of) beverage service and complaining constantly to Stan on twoplustwo.

So I finally meet him, and start complaining about the lack of drink service again. So he asks me what I want, and I say Budweiser. Like he was really going to get into a skin tight body suit and heels. So he strides into the back to the beverage station area, and fifteen seconds later, a random cocktail waitress bursts out in a mad forty yard dash, with one Bud on her tray. She then asks me, "Is there a problen sir? Everything alright?"

I should have complained I was hungry too...

Just curious if 1/2 PLO has run at all Monday or yesterday? Will be down later today and looking to play today/tomorrow before the WSOP main starts Friday.

I would love to, but I'm coming down this trip on a fairly limited budget, just bringing enough to play tourneys while there and a few random penny slots to kill time in between. Maybe if I bink the 7PM showboat $65 on Monday I'll come by Tuesday for some 1/2 action. Usually bring enough to play cash as well when I come down, but planning on returning to school means needing to save as much money as possible, so tourneys are gonna give me more bang for my buck as far as money goes if I get smacked in the face by horrible variance

Game ran Sat, Sun, Mon. Wasn't there Tues and didn't see it pop up on any game reports.

Monday was something like 10pm to 2am.

The upgrade takes a few minutes (if there's no wait), so your time has to be like $3000/hour for it not to be worth it in most cases.

You get:

the free parking, saving $5
a free Classic room
$100 of slot dollars
access to the Amphora Lounge (black card lounge) for $10 comp dollars
$9.99 Borgata Buffet player's price (normally $28 for dinner)
access to the shorter Black Card lines for some eating establishments

If you can't take advantage of any of these, than it's not worth upgrading. If you can, then yes, it's worth it.

If you are really pressed for time, a Borgata staff member may be able to take your license/info and bring your new card to you depending on which gaming area you ask and when. But you may also be asked to go to the My Borgata desk - esp because of the upgrade promotion stuff.

RE: the Spring Poker Open

Anyone here have experience playing the limit events at previous Borgata Open's?

I was only going to play in one event, either Limit Holdem or Limit Omaha 8. I'm wondering -- if someone's skill was about the same in both games, which one would offer a better chance of success (theoretically, of course)?

I guess the two main factors are the potential field sizes and the ratio of good vs bad players.

less people will know how to play o8 imo. way more likely to get people playing almost every hand or misreading the board.

+1

Even people who think they know how to play omaha fail epically in O8 tournaments, at least from what I've seen.

Play the Omaha, because by the looks of the schedule, there are no limit events this series. I am kind of disappointed because I probably would have put together the money to play in it. It looked like there was plans to have one in the preliminary schedule (over in the tournament forum), but it appears to have been scrapped.

Twice. Second one was $13k. Smallest I've ever seen. I sat next to a guy from that table who said his table share was like $650.

Twice again? Wow. That's at least the 3rd time it has hit twice in one day. I think it's actually the 4th time.
