Stan, the spring open is listed here:
http://www.theborgata.com/Main.cfm?C...ategory_3=3510

No details page on the event listing. Is this being held in the poker room?

Are all events 1 day or 2 day events?

What's the snow situation in Atlantic City? Is it anything to worry about, or just a minor inconvenience?

Isn't chinese poker a 4 handed game? How could you run that profitably/efficiently?

Stan,

A question for you and/or anyone else who know's the answer:

What is the policy regarding cell phone use in the poker room? Is texting permissable at the tables?

Thanks in advance for letting me know!

during cash games, texting and using your phone at the table is acceptable. during tournaments, you need to stand up and leave the table.

Thanks! Is this posted anywhere in the Borgata? Is there any documented house rules where this is explicitly stated?

Neither, not snowing at the moment. Was snowing earlier but weather is fine right now.

Btw to the phone thing (from my experience, dont know the written rules):
Texting/talking on the phone is permitted, but not really allowed. If you're getting excessive with it or in the middle of a big hand they'll tell you to hang up. I think the rule is probably no talking on the phone, but its not really enforced if you want to make a quick call.

LOL, that's contradictory isn't it?

My pet peeve is texting at the table during cash games. I would assume there is a clear cut rule about this and wish to know what it is. Of course, that doesn't mean it gets regularly enforced.

Ha oddly enough this happened on my first attempt too. They were off by one day and a quick call solved it and I was checked in within minutes. Someone probably had the date off by a day or clicked on Friday instead of Thursday in the menu for me. Possible they did same hing but clicked 3/18 instead of 2/18. Clearly they need a better interface for reservations .

Having the wrong date is a minor issue, these things happen and can be taken care of easily. Its just I was unhappy with having to talk to many different representatives before I could find someone to help me.

what happens often is mid / high limit games dont start until it gets 5 or 6 players. sometimes they'll start HU or 3 way but often times it won't.

so instead of sitting there watching horse races, it'd be better to play chinese with 2 or 3 other people and try to make some money. then when some other people show up the players can then negotiate the mix and stakes.

or if a game's playing 3 handed and one person needs to go use the bathroom or smoke a cig, the game might stop until they get back. then chinese poker would be a great way to fill time.

usually, the house drops time like any other game. they just deal out four hands and while one deck is getting set, they start dealing out the next hand so it's non-stop.

thats cause new jersey happens to be a large state.

south east corner of the state weather much different than in the storm.

check your doppler radar.

im sure it would be a bitch getting there from the north but not to bad from the south.

I worded it bad. I meant that by the rules it's not really allowed, but the dealers will usually let you do it as long as you're not having a 15 minute convo or talking in the middle of a big pot.
