bad idea. the pink chips would only slow the game down. game already has lots of action, on weekends it plays more like a 5/10 with four to six players to the flop.

Assuming you are in the casino/hotel...

dial "0" and ask to be connected to the poker room.

Booked about the same win you saw me leave with, played a couple hours of no limit and was getting your cards from the 10 game.

I ask because I've taken to using a gold coin as my card protector and I'm somewhat curious if I'd be forced to bet it at its face value. I assume coins don't count but I do remember seeing half dollars in the rack downstairs. There was a thread here a couple years ago about someone invoking the cash plays rule and forcing their opponent to put in a stack of silver dollars (I don't remember where that happened). I'm mostly just curious as I use a foreign coin to sidestep the whole issue (I can't remember the last time I was all-in anyway).
Coins are not allowed to play.

Game report?

I'll be down tonight after work.

Cash games tonight....11am tourney tomorrow....then cash games afterwards.

I'm hoping to play something other than hold'em (other than the tourney). Any chance of a 1-2 PLO running on a Tues night? I'll be putting my name on the list and crossing my fingers. 10-20 O8 would work too...

I've put some thought into it. And I've decided that it would be awesome.

I'm going to AC tomorrow to play 1/2 and 2/5 all night and really like the Borgata, but it seems to me the players there take it more seriously than at the Taj so I always end up there for easier money.

Does anybody feel the same way about the two rooms? Does the room quality(drinks, scenery...) make up for it?

I cant' really comment on the 1/2 donkfests, but the limit games are amazing at the Borg. As soft or softer than the Taj.

And yes... "room quality" counts too. The Taj is a dump, filled with degens.

The big difference between the Borgata and other rooms (including the Taj) is game selection. There are just so many 1-2 and 2-5 to choose from, as well as 10/20 (on the weekend). If you don't like the game you're in, just ask for a table change and you should have a lot of options.

Game selection is about the same at the Taj, there are usually multiple tables of NL and Limit to choose from. I give the edge to the Borg on this - but, only slightly. If (for example) the Borg has 20 1/2 tables going, the Taj will have 15 +/-.

The real difference (IMHO) between the two rooms is the "experience". The Borg wins this one, hands down! First, and most important, the Borg is clean, spacious and safe. The staff are top shelf and they really do work hard to ensure that your experience is positive. Beverage service is good and you are able to get brand name products. The seating is about as good as it gets in a poker room, with comfortable chairs and (generally) ample room between tables. The room's manager, Stan, listens to his customers and implements suggestions to make the room better.

I could continue to list differences (like tournament quality, frequency, comps, etc.) but, hopefully, you get the point

None of this can be said about the Taj. The Taj is a poorly run room. It is a dump. And, the overall experience is, well... horrible.

Can I find a good game at the Taj? Sure. But, I can find a good game pretty much anywhere. But, I want to enjoy where I play. The Borgata is the best poker experience in AC <period>

Stan, feel free to upgrade me to BLACK LABEL

The main thing I like about the Taj over the Borg is that it's easier to find an Omaha game at the Taj.

Now if only a poker room would come up with a text message notification system to let you know your seat is available. Give the person a minute or two to respond to lock up the seat for 5 or 10 minutes to give them time to get back to the poker room. This would mean less chance that people don't hear their names called or can't get the attention of a floor person to lock up the seat before another name is called. It will also quiet the room down a bit because you won't have somebody on the PA almost constantly calling names for seats. Last time I was there, I put my name on the list for the 10/20 Omaha and sat down at a 1/2NL table to kill time. After a couple hours, I was still 5th or 6th on the list so I went downstairs and grabbed some food. When I came back up, I was first on the list. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I decided to sit at another 1/2NL table for a while. After about an hour, I heard somebody else's name called for the 10/20 Omaha game I was waiting for and went to look at the list and my name wasn't on it any more. I don't know when my name was called, but it's possible that I tuned it out with all the other announcements coming over the PA. This is the first time I've missed my name being called, but I can't imagine I'm the only one it's happened to. I've also see a few times when somebody's name was called that they couldn't get the attention of a floor person to lock up the seat for them and the person calling the list went on to the next person on the list.
I think if they could come up with some sort of notification method other than calling out initials/names over the PA, that would be a lot better. Maybe have the texting notification be an option when you sign up. It wouldn't be a complete replacement for the PA, but it might cut down on the noise a bit and could speed things up when calling new games. Maybe somebody else with come up with a better solution.

I also can't wait for the day when we can see the game lists on a web page so we can see what games are running, how long the lists are, and keep track of our place on the lists via the web instead of having to go to the front or back of the room.

Same for me, except I enjoy playing stud. Lowest limit stud game @ Borgata is 30/60, way too big for me.

Stan can correct me on this one, but I'm almost positive it's been referenced here that something like this is in the works at the B.

Also, a question for Stan: For the triple play, are you guys going to break out the oversized deepstack chips or will we be playing with standard tournament chips?

Website says registration begins at 8 in the morning. 60 min-300 max for 1/2 and I'm not sure what the min for 2/5 is, but the max is 500.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll prolly end up there for 7-8 hours tomorrow night. If its the TAG/nit fest that I've seen the last 3 times I've been there though, I'll end up at the Taj.

I dont get how the game would be slowed down? The chip betting structure would be like a 20-40. If this was played by compenent players who know how to cut chips properly it wouldnt slow the game down. During the weekends if there are 4-6 players to the flop typically, the visual pot size will create the illusion of those 4-6 players feeling "pot committed" resulting in players peeling streets, calling light, leading to multiway showdowns. You say that the "game already has lots of action"... there never can be too much action! IMO. You can turn the Borgata 10-20 into the Taj 20-40!

I dont get why players in AC that play 2-4, 3-6, 4-8 LHE use any chip denomination bigger than a white chip. If anything, using red chips would slow down the game more because of the fact that the dealer has to give players change.

Maybe he was thinking of rake/tips

FWIW I don't play limit, although I did support the PCG and play a little 20/40 recently and I have the opposite opinion of most other players. I would like to see every game use the highest denomination chip that could be used for that game. It has been explained to me, however, why they use the chips that they do and I understand.
