If you’re still waiting on tier credits make sure you get the new card. All the TCs from feb and march showed up within a few hours. Didn’t really help my room offers much though unless you consider $650 for Saturday instead of $700 improvement.

Tourney had 250 entrants and went off far better than the last one. 70k up top they chopped 4 ways.

Also to the guy who asked Surface lot has been closed a lot lately. I heard it’s a staffing issue. It may only be opened weekends right now.

Last weekend was my last free weekend. I've been getting weekends since Aug2020. Now I got my gold card back, and can't get a room.
Hell, no comps on weekdays either. Back to Parx?

I know a lot of gold cards that aren't getting rooms anymore. It's their season, so they of course cut back on poker for weekends. I got sick of staying there all the time tbh anyway so I've been playing more local and going home at night. However I still check back multiple times before the weekend to see if something opens up, which does happen at the last minute or a day before but they have to be grabbed quick if you see one.

Never had comps cut any weekday/most weekends of the year until this week, def not seasonal

Borgata historically offers less complimentary rooms May - August because that's their busy season and people will book there even without comps.

I think they have lost their minds!
I went to the site in an incognito window & did not log in and here is what July looks like:

That is exactly what my rates look like when logged in, as a Pearl. Good to get confirmation of exactly how useless that is.

FYI comp offers only carry forward 3 weeks, thus you won’t see offers for July yet

I guess that may be true now (since I am getting little to no comp offers any more for any time, 1-3 weeks out or 6 months out, it's hard for me to verify anything), but it definitely wasn't true back in Nov when I booked comped rooms for Jan and Feb, or in early Jan when I booked a room for late March.

For everyone talking about tier level and comped rooms, your tier level has NOTHING to do with room offers other than gold gets fees waived.

Room offers are based on average play per day.

So 1 day a month where you play 10 hours gets better room rates than 15 days a month at 3 hours per day.

Back from a short trip with the wife. Played mostly NLH 1/3, but kept putting my name on the list for PLO 2/2, managed to play a couple sessions of PLO Sunday night (in between dinner, cigars and NLH).

Casual trip. We enjoyed meals at/from our usual favorites (N.O.W., Izakaya, MGM Sportsbook). Got a few good cigars in at and near the slots machines (even binked a few small bonuses to walk away plus). Headed to Morton's at Caesars to use a gift certificate. Boy was Caesars dead (Wednesday afternoon/evening), but there are a lot of renovations. Poker room area is in a 'being renovated' area, unsure if anything is happening to the room/tables etc.

Nice to see a majority of the dual rate dealer/floors are solid dealers. They are professional, friendly and appear able to use both common sense and humor.

It was my first time playing PLO in a casino.
Session 1: New game and a couple table co-captains. Fortunately they were nice and helped move the game along for those (players/dealers) who weren't 100% confident.

Blinds were 2-2 and players could call 2 or raise to 5. The 'pot' sizes were rounded to the nearest 5, making it easier for all. Unsure what would have happened if you wanted to bet a non-multiple of 5 on a later street, but nobody tried other than all-ins.

Running it twice: i never played in a casino game that allowed it. First orbit with a small stack I shoved top set (no redraws) and V immediately said call and asked "Once or Twice". Dealer paused. I felt like i had to run it twice from a 'never had the chance to do that before' perspective and agreed to twice quickly. Good thing as he hit his flush on the 1st runout and the 2nd was clean and mine.

Issues: I had a small learning curve getting used to peeling 4 cards. Never got quite used to it, and felt like I slowed the game down a little bit as a result. Other players were better, some were worse and simply picked the cards high off the table and even held them back a little at chest/face height to see.

Session 2: 1 game going. I say at 1/3 with my name on the list and they called players for a 2nd table. Never ended up opening, but a spot opened on the first/only table and I moved.

Lots of action, but I folded more than I've ever folded before. Worked out and one large pot ended up to be at least 90% of my overall profit for the combined sessions.

Never got a game going Mon, Tues or Wed when I was available.

Dealers still pretty solid.
However: One seemed very petty/vindictive and called for the floor to card a player who walked into the room. They commented about carding that player every time and even after that player was seated at another table they sent the floor to check. Weird. Player came over and showed the ID to the dealer and wanted to know what the problem was. Dealer commented that they remembered the player and even took a guess as to the last name. Sounded like a stereotypical last name, but could have been correct, close, a poor joke or harassment. Player just wanted to go play and did.

Still a generous sprinkling of life-nits in the room.
We (mostly) all know the rules of poker and the rules of etiquette.
Borgata even has a printed poster about etiquette, including:
-- If a player expects to show a winner, they should show immediately.
-- It is considered impolite to use IWTSTH as a "needle"
Player A was a bit loose and aggressive and I played with him on Monday night for a few hours.
Player B was also a bit loose and aggressive, was sitting on a stack of $1200+ and was not fluent in English.
A few hands involved Player A betting the river, player B calling and quickly showing a winner, leading Player A to muck.
Life Nits C, D and E felt compelled to instruct Player B not to show his hand first when calling.
When B didn't understand (or at least pretended not to) C/D/E called the floor over, and then requested the Spanish speaking floor to translate and decided they were going to use IWTSTH when Player A said he never had to show his cards.
To his credit A understood everything, including the knowledge that if necessary he could turbo muck at showdown.
I spoke to one of the floors to see if they would allow IWTSTH and they smiled and said they would. Shame.
As it turns out, it was never invoked after all. I don't recall if there were more instances that could have warranted it, but at least it quieted them down.

Looking forward to some more trips this summer. Parx is a lot closer to me, but I haven't been since they moved to the main building. Having a room and/or place to smoke a cigar is more important than the driving distance.

Sometimes in these situations it's helpful to point out that by invoking IWTSTH they're essentially accusing that person of cheating. That backs some people off.

I played here thousands of hours and never knew they had a sign discouraging people to slow roll

It's also one of my pet peeves when I'm watching a hand and trying to put the original raiser (usually a new player who I don't know) who's been active on a range, so of course I'm interested to see what he had so I also hate it when the caller turns up his hand so fast that it gives the aggressor an opportunity to muck.

I've even recently said very quietly to a player next to me "let him show first" after the action was over, so I can understand their frustration but calling the floor over to tell the guy in his native language about it is taking it a step too far.

The new room at Parx is nice, and there's an outdoor smoking area near the side entrance in the main casino for smokers
