So, with the changeover to MGM Rewards and the siginificant reduction in dollars spent to earn tier credits, do you at least still receive tier credits for poker play? I know in Vegas and MGM National Harbor you didn't give tier credits for poker but Borgata did.

Yes, you still do earn tier credits and comp dollars for playing poker at Borgata.

Does anyone have any idea how many many you earn at 1/3? 2/5? 5/10?

or

Any of the limit games... 10/20? 20/40?

Been trying to figure this out

I haven't seen anything about rates changing, so what's in the FAQ should still be valid, just now 100/150/200/300 points instead of 1/1.50/2/3 ECs. (Yes, the FAQ is due for an update.)

What of tier credits. We used to earn 75tc/$ in the old system. Any idea what it is now?

A reasonable guess would be 75 TCs per 100 points.

Though it's also reasonable to think that with so many other things changing perhaps that has as well. I haven't been since May, but plan to go soon. I'll play 10 hours of 1/3 and see what TCs result.

Make sure to ask the desk how many hours they have you clocked in for, they always short me

If there is a tier system that works in Vegas why does MGM do things differently at different places. It used to be nice before at Borgata they had to come and screw it up as they did at other places. No clue why?

112

Tier credits for 1/3 are 112.5 @ hour
Comp $ for 1/3 are $1.50 @ hour

Tier credits for 2/5 are ??? (not sure of amount but proportional to 1/3)
Comp $ for 2/5 is $2.00 @ hour

So it's still 75tc/$ then, not 112.

Ask a 2/5 reg. They'll know. If you ask someone that works there they won't know, even though they should.

mini TR:

I finally saw some room availability a few months ago. Got a room in Jan, but ended up canceling it because it was during an omicron spike. Second room in Feb. (And when I canceled Jan, I booked another one for March.)

So I was there last weekend. Things are still much as had been reported previously. To wit:

* Cage was always closed in the poker room as far as I could tell. I was told it was usually open for about an hour or two. Maybe I just missed it.
* Initial buyin at the table, and all rebuys at the table.
* Players were pretty good about selling chips to each other as they came and left or for rebuys. Other than at my final cashout, I never had to go to the main casino cage for any transaction.
* Occasional fills. We got low a few times, but never any problems.
* Cash "played" in your stack, but would be converted to chips when bet. $100s and $20s at least, maybe anything. Note that I was playing at limit tables, where stack size doesn't really matter, this might be different at a NL table.
* You have to go to the shift mgr desk to have comps transferred from poker system onto your card for use.

* The lists never seemed that bad when I was paying attention, but I arrived after dinner on Friday and wasn't playing Sat afternoon. The room seemed fairly full Sat night, so might have gotten worse then.

* Playing mostly 20-40 limit with some 10-20 limit mixed in, I got 660 tier points for 18+ hours of play. About 35 TC/hr. Seems lower than might be expected from the above. No way to be sure that I was properly clocked in the whole time, but as far as I know I was.

* Having said that, I went to the desk after playing about 15 of those 18+ hours. They took my info and said the shift supervisor would transfer when he got back. Looking now, I show 625 MGM Reward Points, "+ 20 Pending" whatever that means. So $6.50 in comps. So something didn't happen right most likely, or else the comp rate is now 45c/ hour. (I did double check that some comps weren't used to pay for room resort fee, and they weren't, and I didn't use them for anything else.)

* Not sure how relevant some of the above will be this weekend, since they are running that promo and I expect things will be much busier than normal.

* I was hoping that I was back on the "only 2 comped rooms at a time" plan from pre-COVID, but now I only have 1 room booked and am still showing $200-400 / night weekend rates and no comped rooms at any time from now through Sept as far as they will show me, so most likely I'll (maybe) be back in March and then that will be it again. Too bad.

I was exactly even +/- 10 bucks when the second must move game broke at 1am. Should have went home, but sat around for an hour until a seat (actually 4 seats) opened up, then lit 3 racks on fire while short handed with a punishing string of flush draws that didn't hit.

Then went and made it all back at craps at 4am.

It's weird, from personal experience, some of your points and tier credits show up right up, some trickle in later on. I wouldn't assume you're not going to get the correct amount of either, but it's definitely a very frustrating way of running things because it's so hard for us to stay on top of it

Yeah, that definitely sounds like either you weren't clocked in or the rates have changed.

Before, 10/20 was 2 Express Comps/hour and 20/40 was 3 EC/hour, and Tier Credits were 75 per EC. At those rates, you should have 4000+ MGM points and 3000+ Tier Credits.

It's such a big difference, I think I'd lean toward clock-in or recording errors. Borgata's pre-MGM comp rates for poker were unusually generous and MGM maintained them. Such a drastic change would have a similarly drastic effect on the room.

MGM has lower tier credits for poker since they changed their systems over to MGM International. Consider myself lucky that
I don't live in DC as their are no tier credits earned for playing at National Harbor.

Bravo is showing no games at borgata and huge lists at harrahs and trop right now - is there a weird system issue or is the poker room at borgata closed for some reason?

Ha - Borgata was wildly unprepared for the $200k guarantee and as they were busy capping registration for both the AM and PM flights, turning tournament players away, and not allowing rebuys, they left 20 cash game tables open (and even opened some after tourney started????). Lists were almost 200 players for 1/2 and 2/5. They turned off Bravo to show "No Live Games" even though the games are still going. Didn't know they could do that. Lots of players went there to get turned away from the tourney, hence the huge lists elsewhere.

They scheduled a big tournament on the same weekend as a big cash-game promo??

ETA: No, wait, the email says high hand promo Friday and Saturday, tourney Sunday and Monday...so the demand for the tourney was enough to squeeze out cash games?

Yeah, big high hand promotion 11-11 Friday and Saturday, $200K GTD with two day 1 flights Sunday, day 2 Monday. Went down with my dad Friday morning, few notes on our experience if anyone's curious at all:

- Played ~26 hours over the two days. Him at 1/3 me at 2/5.

- Got the Friday right around 11, we were in the 40s on the 1/3 list, 7 on the 2/5, maybe 20 minute wait for seats, but the table my dad got sent to wasn't ready with chips and when players sent there realized that they scrambled to go to one of the other opening tables or random open seats at other tables. My dad figuring it would be set up reasonably fast regardless just sat at the table he was assigned but it was an hour before cards hit the felt there.

- Friday the lists were long but it didn't really seem that bad from what I could tell, especially 2/5. I was pretty comfortably able to switch tables when I wanted and wasn't even sneaking it, asked the floor every time, by 5-6 PM there was often open seating.

- Saturday got there a little later around 12, in the 60s on the 1/3, 9 on the 2/5, with like 10 tables of each open I think? But the lists were piling up way faster than they were able to open tables. Probably waited about an hour for the 2/5, dad waited a bit longer for 1/3.

- By 2-3 the 1/3 list was over 100 and the 2/5 was probably 50-70 I think with basically all tables open. Lists stayed full like this through the end of the high hand promotion.
- Several people pointed out the lists were moving quicker than expected though as maybe 30% of people called actually answered the call.

- Still able to get table changes at 2/5 as requested without much trouble.

- 45 min dinner button no issue Friday, but Saturday the entire casino was a madhouse, waited 45 minutes on line at Bread and Butter when I saw the downstairs food court was packed and BNB seemed like it had way shorter line. Ran back to my seat without eating my sandwich in time to not get picked up, then went back into the hallway to scarf the sammich down in 3 minutes. Dad got picked up but when he explained situation to floor that he missed by <5 minutes because the wait at BNB they got him a seat.

- Dealers said plan was 30-35 tables in the poker room Sunday for the tournament, 10 handed, a lot of players griping that it wasn't being held in the convention room or elsewhere.

- A lot of players griping about the cashier, the tournament plan, the room overall most blaming MGM or Vinny. Most staff I heard chime in (quietly) backed Vinny up and agreed MGM was treating players and staff poorly.

- One cashier window open for cash Saturday, none open Friday, players had to sell chips or walk to casino floor cashier to cash out.

- Comp $ transfer at end of session was pretty easy, just asked the floor before I left around 2AM and they sent me to the desk to get it done, 5 min tops.

- 2/5 dealers were great IMO, many/most the ones from pre-covid I remember, few mistakes, well run games, nice to see them again. Dad mentioned some of the new 1/3 dealers were a bit rough still, but did point out it seemed the routine spared players from getting back to back new dealers.

Admittedly I'm a bit of an optimist, and have only really played Parx and Borgata 2017 forward, but I was relatively content with experience. Games were bad early Friday but got okay, games were okay right away Saturday and got pretty solid later. The place was a madhouse, some things could be handled better especially if they're going to go balls to the walls with this kind of promotion and an overall packed casino for a holiday weekend, but I was able to play 26 hours of poker and that made me happy.

This is pretty typical for those sorts of promos. People wander off too long, people give up. And you kinda have to go willing to sit in any game that's somewhat appropriate...get on the list for 1/3. 2/5, 2/4, 4/8, 10/20...so after you've taken the first to open you're still on the list for all the rest, even if you don't intend to move.
