Even if they were allowed to take tips, if one person out of a million gives him a dollar or two I don't think that's gonna make him search for players any faster in the future.

at my local casino, there's a tip box for the Brush.
i'm guessing it gets evenly divided at the end of a 24hr period based on hrs worked.
(like table games dealers in the main casino floor.)

but yeah, allowing a brush person to keep tips directly like a poker dealer keeps his own tips is just creating a headache for the Poker Room mgr

Does anyone know if the hourly comp rate for 1/3 was changed from what it used to be for 1/2 ?
1/2 was $1.50 an hour. Is 1/3 more or the same ?

normally i'd agree with you but these days you can't wait inside the room so it's not necessarily an old list.i'm not sure if you have been there since it reopened but they have to text you for a seat. there is no excuse for empty seats with a list of names that are not being texted for long periods of time.of course it could have been an old list but being the players were never texted it's impossible to say.
Borgata's staff is the #1 target for every new poker room that opens within 200 miles distance from AC. Some of the best dealers in Parks, Catskills Resorts etc at some point worked in Borgata and were poached by the competitors. Someone in MGM made an incredibly wise decision of bringing back most senior dealers last and only as floors. Those guys started dealing in the old room downstairs and as floors are kind of mediocre, but they were excellent dealers. Obviously, things like that take a toll on the morale of the employees and on the quality of service. Right now, once again Borgata is under poaching attack, this time from the Ocean (not poker room but casino as a whole, mainly suites), and considering everything that happened there recently this attack will be wildly successful. My opinion is obviously biased cause I consider Borgata my poker home and they treat me really well there but even I have to admit that the quality of service recently took a significant hit.

The good borgata dealers have been getting poached since Maryland Live opened. This isn't a recent thing. There are still some really good dealer but they're few and far between. It's night at day compared to parx who are almost all excellent.I have only been to National Harbor a few times (none since covid hit) but have been very impressed with their dealers.

Anyone see that Tab moved on from being tournament director? He posted about it on twitter yesterday. Kinda bad news. Hopefully they keep a similar structure going down the road. I feel the borgata opens are really well run mtt series.

The best thing about playing at the borgata is they give players more comps and free rooms than anyone else for 500+ miles but the only thing that's been tilting me is their "resort fee" that you still have to play even on free rooms which is $22.31 per night and also includes other bs fees like occupancy and tourism fees. Even though I can use my points, it's still coming out of money I could be using on food or something else. I've never had to pay it at other casinos from PA to MD (I remember paying it in vegas but I go there more for vacations anyway than to grind poker all day).

I asked a couple locals that I know from there and no one gave a straight answer what the money is for. It sounds like it's going to a mob boss if you ask me or some corrupt politician.

So I checked it out and it says this:

"Atlantic City room reservations are subject to a daily resort fee (subject to applicable tax) to be added at check-in. Resort Fee included" Basic in-room internet access for two devices daily, all local calls, and a $5 voucher for use toward self-parking."

Free local calls for $22/night? And people keep handing over the money? Also I've been giving the parking guy $5 just to get out of the parking garage but I can get a voucher so I don't have to pay? I'm gonna ask next time I check in but they owe me like $50 if that's the case and I'm going to get to the bottom of that "resort fee" bs (and taxing that PSF fee may even be illigal). In this economy as bad as they're begging for business they shouldn't be adding junk fees on their regular patrons who spend a lot of money on food there and are keeping their room busy. I'm gonna try to get that junk fee waived.

When you're out of work, you need to move on. Maybe there will be an opportunity when tournaments resume.

lol at getting retroactive $50 back.

Like all the fees airlines tack on, resort fees are not new anymore. They are listed as you book your reservation. How is any of this a surprise now?

Borg's resort fees used to be way less. They've increased gradually to where it is now. It's still less than most in vegas.

Resort fees are just a way for them to charge something but advertise it as free. Borgata at $23 is ~$10 less than Harrahs or Ocean (haven't stayed at any of the others).

If you have at least a pearl card you get a $5 discount on parking and if you have gold+ parking is free.

it actually wasn't gradual. it was 5 dollars from when it opened until mgm bought them. and within a year or so they went from 5 to 15 to what they are now.

Sure about that? Caesars seems pretty generous with free rooms in my experience. Quite the opposite from MGM/Borgata.

In my experience, Borgata is the only casino that has given me comped rooms for playing poker and I rarely play slots and table games. Sure , it sucks to pay the resort fees for a comped room but it’s better than paying a room rate plus resort fees as well.

The comped room is simply false advertising because you have to pay resort fees but it is still better then paying the room fee on top of the resort fee. Your going there to gamble anyway whats $23 god people here complain about everything and want everything for free. If you morally object to paying a resort fee go stay at the motel 6 across the street, I am happy with my $23 room at borgata

I didn't know it was for wifi (which I don't need) and lol unlimited local phone calls - I have a cell phone that has both. It's like ordering an Uber that comes with a Lyft behind it that follows you and you have to pay for both cars.

I stayed at a hotel on Route 30 on a Satruday night when I first started playing there. It sounded like there was a party in just about every room, including the ones next to mine.

I don't like paying for things I don't need. Maybe I'm just a big expenses nit.

Well thanks to your/mine(staying here atm) 23 fee, borgata get to know how much room is left so they can charge higher price for other visitors. I am pretty sure these visitors pay more rake with pit games. Spend more on special outs with there friends/family. But yet we get to make rakeback w comps, earn at poker but yet get "free room". More like most others pay for things you don't like to and you paying 1/10 of it.

Edit: I think it call subsidize

I've had Pearl since we switched to MLife. I haven't paid for parking in years.

Free parking is also about the easiest offer to get from the poker room. You'd see it listed in your account and on the bimonthly poker mailer.

I don't eat tomatoes and when i ask for no tomatoes on my Whopper i don't expect Burger King to deduct 25 cents from my order. 2 for $5 Whoppers is still helluva deal and Im not gonna order the fish sammich for $6 just cause I don't want to pay for the tomatoes i don't need on my Whopper

Actually, it is more like paying for Uber, with a $23 additional fee that is advertised for radio and air-conditioning/heat when the temperature is already 72°, and you were planning on listening to music on your phone with ear buds.

I would rather pay four dollars for a regular or spicy Chick-fil-A sandwich because I believe that I am getting much better taste and nutritional value.

Does this mean that I am comfortable paying the $23 resort fee for a comped room, or am I comfortable paying $99 for a room plus the $23 resort fee?

They should just be honest & call it the "minimum mandatory non-negotiable fee" or (alternatively).... the "resort fee"! ;-)

I'm OK with it as long as it doesn't grow much larger.
In Vegas it's disconcerting to have resort fees for some (luxury) hotels equal or exceed the total cost of the lower end hotels but that's apparently what the market dictates.

Market might bear such resorts fees but definitely did not dictate such.
