Better to have the two different options than no omaha omaha option and no 5-10 HE option at all seems to me. And for those who think the half and half game is better, I'd just say that there was basically no action on the holdem rounds when I played it earlier this month. It might as well have been omaha only.
I think being in Omaha would actually aid the live players who are up against primarily SLHE. And more beats = more pain = more enjoyment for those of us who will play neither.

Sprung mom from rehab, took her to play her Wheel of Fortune slot, she suggested I try BJ to get even, nearly every table on the floor is bumped up to $25 min. so just went home. Business must be good this weekend.

Odd Floor Ruling...

2/3 spread

I raise $10 four callers... last guy says " I call plus all this ". Raises $75.
Two players fold...and I say hold on, is that a call or a raise... dealer says raise. I ask for the floor. The floor says the raise stands.

My issue is... you can't say I call... then raise.

I asked floors this various times to see what they say. Back in the day (movies, shows, etc) you might hear, I call and raise. Different floors say different rulings. I have a feeling though in tournaments it might stand as a call.

Why did you wait for there to be action? Honestly I'd rule it a raise as well.

especially in smaller stakes games if he says call and raise in one complete sentence then its a raise. plus you would have to stop the action immediately and not wait to see what happens first.

in general it is best not to punish someone for a small mistake that doesnt affect the action.

A presumably incompetent opponent making an inconsequential blunder seems like a great reason to hold up the game.

It does not depend on what you are holding.

Your cards are irrelevant. His intent was to raise even if he went about it the wrong way. After the hand is over you can tactfully suggest he declare his action the proper way in the future. Calling the floor costs you, the dealer, and the house money, and puts a damper on the action for everyone else at the table.

Did you think at any point that he wanted to call?

Hold on here...

Calling the floor here only cost me because the floor didn't rule my way. However I was Holding a pocket pair. Had the floor ruled it was a call I may have seen the flop. You cant say I call then raise. You can't say I raise and not raise. You can't say I fold then put it all in..... it's how it works.

He said I call... I can assume this is what he meant... but then decided to put it all in.

What he does doesn't depend on what I am holding... you are correct. I meant his action is not inconsequential.

technically you are right and technically it should be ruled a call. but its best in the poker world not to call every rule that benefits you. all it does is alienate you from the crowd and makes them play tougher against you. plus when you need some help on a ruling from them guess what.

just like if the cop pulls you over for going 2 mph over the speed limit and tells you technically he is right to ticket you. there has to be leeway in making decisions and choices.

I guess you are right... I have been playing for 10 years and never once called the floor. I was more irritated with the dealer than the player. It was her attitude that pissed me off.
