5/10 is sporadic. May pickup as Superbowl travelers trickle in.

Assuming no 10/25 NL in the Phoenix area? Thinking about hitting up this place Wed-Sat hoping for some 5/10 on the weekend.

There is a $500 betting limit in Arizona, it applies to poker so we technically play spread limit.

I'll see you there at least a couple of those weekends I'm sure - last Saturday the 5-10 got started about 6 or 7, but was still running when I left around midnight. And it was a good game.

Do you play the spread limit half and half (HE and Omaha) or HE?

Jrr - I play lowly 2/3 spread...just don't have a big poker roll right now and 3/5 game always feels far tougher so I try to eke out wins in 2/3 and it gets deep enough for me on fri/sat nights

No limits are really "lowly" imo. Practicing good BRM along with playing micro/low stakes simply to improve your game and gain overall experience, along with to build a bankroll is nothing to sell yourself short on. Obv 2/3 is not micro's, and actually if you are game selecting well, it can play pretty big in itself.

There are stories all over the forums of successful mid/high stakes grinders who played micros/low stakes longer than they wanted or expected, but stuck with it and made a pretty successful living for themselves.

Last couple of weeks the 3/5 hasn't seen too much of tourist influx although have seen some real soft spots siting down to play really late, like 2:30 am. There has been more higher limit action with a couple of 5/10 games. Last year around this time they were spreading a 25/25 spread with a max bet of $500. I heard it became a true limit game by the flop.

Anyone got the details on the new nightly tourney? I heard it was $145 and 10,000 chips I think but is there any of the add on or rebuy stuff like they used to have?

You have it right. $145, 10k in chips. No rebuys or addons with cash at table anymore, but they are still doing silly bonus chips for buying in before 5pm and if you are in your seat at the start. (Although the bonus chips are only 500 for each bonus so not as big a deal with the 10k starting stack now if you can't be there on time).

This is just random when it goes. We played 25/25 spread limit Omaha High last night for like 8 hours for instance.

What are the buy-ins for the game? IME buy in caps at TSR are treated flexibly in some of the higher SL games, but what are the nominal limits? How much do most players have on the table? That should basically turn into a $500 fixed limit game post flop (and get there pre a lot of the time).

Saw a drunk guy get into a pretty entertaining kerfluffle with a dealer and then the floor.

Situation: On the river, 4 players in the hand. UTG checks, drunk guy mucks. Dealer says "please don't do that". Guy gets all outraged and keeps mouthing off to the dealer.

The floor and dealers didn't seem to be on the same page here...the dealers said not allowed and you'll be removed for doing it, the floor said it's unethical but not against the rules...opinions?

On one hand, I always thought it a bit silly to stand on ceremony with pocket 4s on an A-K-9-9-K board (example)...but when it affects others action how hard is it to just wait your turn and only muck to a bet?

I certainly hope so. Starting to recognize too many people at the tables We need some new blood. It's a pity there isn't a good poker room closer to U of P stadium (where you'd think most visitors would be staying)

There will be one in the next year or so (Better late than never?)

It's my understanding that mucking out of turn like that will screw up the jackpot. The board has a couple of different ways to get at a jackpot and so that is where the dealer is coming from.

The end of the month tournament saturday might be interesting.

I haven't seen any Owl-specific events posted, though.

Saw something on Twitter about Layne Flack and Hellmuth playing Chinese poker on the flight to Phoenix.

It will be interesting to see who shows up at TSR this weekend. Tons of celebrities and random rice people are in town. I heard Ivey was doing some charity tournament at one of the local hotels but I'd be shocked to see him as we have that betting cap issue.

I hope a few people are still there Monday after SB. Is there any SL action Monday - Wednesday nights? Or PLO, which I prefer.

I highly doubt Ivey will be here and miss the 250k at Aussie Millions.

The 5/10 Omaha and Hold'em ran last night, except it was two separate tables. I do not approve.

Why the disapproval? IME at least a couple of the 5-10 HE regs just won't play omaha.

Better to have the two different options than no omaha omaha option and no 5-10 HE option at all seems to me. And for those who think the half and half game is better, I'd just say that there was basically no action on the holdem rounds when I played it earlier this month. It might as well have been omaha only.
