I believe Walt has topped Gus in the badass depratment

Damn Walt just upped his meter in the BAMF department.

The show is such a pleasure to watch on just about every level (ok maybe not realism for you nits out there). It's so rare to see an already awesome television show improve in its third season.

It's absolutely among the best shows of all time imo!

Still think Jesse is going to survive the finale. Think the show will eventually end up with Walt and Jesse being rivals with Gus somehow.
06-06-2010 , 11:33 PM
No question Jesse will survive. The title of the finale will not refer to what Gus' PI meant it to.

Next week's episode runs from 10:00 to 11:47.

Screw Gus IMO

Don't need him

I literally jumped up and down after that ending. So f-ing bad ass. Love this show!

walt made a snap decision to save jesse. not so far fetched. and it didn't make sense, but he did it anyway
06-07-2010 , 12:18 AM
what the ****
06-07-2010 , 12:20 AM
Walts actions seem pretty reasonable to me, a child died partly because of his actions and he lost his ****. if you have issue with the perfect timing of the whole thing, you could always assume that Walt was already there and was waiting for jesse to show up and reacted as he saw fit

Walt sees the story on the news and knows that the kid's death is going to put Jesse over the edge. He decides to stake out the corner where the guys deal anticipating that Jesse is going to show up. When Jesse moves to confront the guys Walt needs to make a call - let Jesse live or die.

Also... they killed an 11 year old. When Walt learns about the kid being killed on the news there is a reason we see his own family in the background.

It isn't like Walt was there to act on his own. He certainly would have preferred it if Jesse didn't show up... but when he does it's a pretty easy call for Walt.

It isn't like he crashed an airplane or something...

half measures availed us nothing, we stood at the turning point.

That episode was so far outside the realm of believable.

Mr. Pollos is running a massive multi-state operation, there is no way he is going to meet face to face with random street level dealers.

I think when your invaluable team of meth producers are having issues with the street level dealers an exception might be made.

Same, but most likely more because of the surprise/shock value. It was great none the less.

This. He just realized 100% his actions from today = dead 11 yo. I would have kept on eating dinner, but I guess Walt's different from me.

This is a legit gripe. I was thinking it'd be a jury of Gus interrogating Jesse for a few minutes then either snap-killing him or something.

RE: Jesse living, the odds just flipped and it's very likely he'll live out the season imo, but they had to introduce a weird development to make it plausible that he lives (i.e., have the pushers kill the kid, which makes no sense from a business perspective as they now have a bunch of cops looking at the case).

My main gripe tbh is, why the **** did they kill the kid? Especially since Gus' comment of "no more kids" implied that corrupting kids to work for them was no longer acceptable (even less killing them, implicitly).

EDIT: I finally enjoyed a hospital scene. If they've been setting up the whole "I'm not going home" plot just to have that handjob bet, it was worth it.

i think if they kick the kid out of the gang he might get all pissy and rat them out, better to kill him
06-07-2010 , 12:51 AM
I'm sort of confused as to how a dude who churns out thousands of pounds of meth a year (and who is obviously a distributor, not a street guy) gives a **** about two random street level dealers who move his product. Why on earth would he care whether they're dead or alive, they're easily replaceable and in the grand scheme incredibly unimportant. Seems strange that he'd sit Jesse down to stop a killing.
06-07-2010 , 12:53 AM
There are 3 possibilities for the kid killing.

1. Least likely - just random killing
2. Dealers acted on their own
3. Most likely imo - Gus ordered the kid killed to get Jesse flared up so he could justify killing him. As we've seen, Gus doesn't care for Jesse.
06-07-2010 , 12:55 AM
Gus meeting the dealers doesn't seem weird to me. We've seen him micromanage his Los Pollos chains and he seems to value his employees.

Plus there's the fact that Walt is a VIP and Gus needs to appease him to some extent.

This is my gripe as well. I get Walt and Jesse's motivations but why these thugs would kill the kid after an explicit order by Gus, their bread and butter, is beyond me. It may be the writer's looking for a reason to have Gus spare Jesse and make nice with Walt next episode.

Regardless... I really liked the episode. The Walt/Mike scene in the living room was great.
