Completely wrong..... I when i was watching this i was like OMFG Gus is genius. He knew that killing that kid was going to get Jesse to go after those guys. And prob knew his guys would take out Jesse. At which point he could go to Walt and be like sorry bro i tried to take care of Jesse but he got crazy and went after them and my guys didnt kill the kid it was totally unrelated. Gus is a phucking genius never forget it. This time he was foiled by a ******ed Walt. If I was Walt, Jessie would have been gone a long time ago, but hey im from NJ.

Also I think Mike's Half measures speech definitely applies to both Gus and Walt this episode. Gus tried a half measure to keep the Walt on his side and, as Krayzcootr said, provoke Jesse into coming after his guys, but Walt responded with a full measure and did the dirty work himself to protect Jesse.

That's actually a very good question, what else do you do with an out-of-work large scale meth cook? Not like you can just have him sign a non-disclosure agreement and move on, someone like Gus would obviously be worried about the threat that he represents. I never really considered that Walt might have been sealing his fate on Earth when he lobbied to have Jesse brought back.

Can anyone else recall anything about where he might be, or what he might be doing? Can't remember specifically what he said about how he got into that career, did Gus have some kind of leverage on him? Maybe he just moved him to another operation or something? Who knows...

There has been no mention of him being killed either explicit or implicit afaik.

I interpreted how he was acting and the look between him and Gus' guy as he was going to be killed. More fear and shock that being hurt for being fired.

I might have been looking into it too much but that is what I took from the scene, specifically some shots of Gus' guy.

They don't have to run you over with a car so to speak when it comes to the offing of a minor character .

Again, I could be totally wrong but that is how I took it.

Interesting, I recently rewatched that episode and the impression I got was one of disbelief at it being Jesse replacing him. I didn't pick up a scared/oh **** I'm gonna die vibe at all.

I took it much the same way. He seemed a bit fearful, unsure. Walt seems to identify as they part that his fate might be sealed. And the henchman escorting him out seemed ominous.

I took it to be ambiguous, but thought Walt would probably read about it in the paper in a future episode and realize that he had essentially signed the guy's death warrant.

eta: that's my memory anyway. I may have had it totally wrong...

No way those guys killed the kid without Gus' go ahead. My guess is that Gus wanted Jesse to go after the dealers, and figured (correctly, imo) that Jesse would **** it up and get himself killed.

Wow! In retrospect - the resin method would have been much better for business. Cue counting the minutes to next weeks episode.

If only Jesse could ever learn to follow orders ldo...

lol... This is why Jesse's character is so believable. He's just like real life. It really wouldn't be surprising if Jesse order resin off the Internets thinking it would poison the drug dealers.

gus is so devious. i wouldn't be surprised if we find out he was behind the 9/11 attacks

Gus' guy (the AMC website calls him Victor) always has that look of death in his eyes.

4th possibility: Kid ate the ricin burgers left in Jesse's car.

While I do think that if Gus wanted the problem handled this way, he would do this, I also think it's perfectly reasonable (so to speak) for them to kill the kid themselves. He's clearly a talker-- he told Jesse's gf about killing Combo, which is how Jesse found out-- and it's not like they can just kick him out of the gang with a promise he won't talk some more.

People who die from a slow-acting poison don't draw crowds around a bloody crime scene and aren't labeled on the news as a "possible gang execution".

The news report Waly hears said the kid was shot "execution style."
