I think ESPN will work though, customizable enough, and has weekly auction for free agents. it looks like one of me/pecota/karak(lolyaright) would have to keep a spreadsheet for the team budgets though. i dont think that would be a big problem though.

we would still be better off using couchmanagers to do the free agency, and then just do the minor league draft in the thread.

we could get started on this fairly soon too. spring training just a week away.

And yes, we should get moving on this soon. If we go with the one-day auction idea, I'd strongly prefer it be on a weekend due to availability issues for me with work (especially if I'm going to help track the auction). How long would something like that take?

ESPN is probably the best compromise if we were deciding to move. Im kind of partial to CBS bc its so customizable, not to mention the player pool is uber deep. Im not sure how deep the player pool is on ESPN, we might have to keep the Minors Rosters in the spreadsheet as well.

Obviously someone getting called up mid season would be added, but I havent used ESPN that deeply to say thats a fact.

A one day auction on a weekend could be good for me, The only day I cant do in March is the 19th. I have a live Auction to run.

I forget, what did we decide about strictly minor league roster moves (excluding the promotions for 2011, which I know we already did)? Are those closed along with the major league roster cuts are do they take place prior to/during the rookie draft?

Pecota we actually delayed the deadline to promote minor leaguers for 2011, that was extended to sometime around the minors draft, at which point you'll have to finalize how many you're not keeping (i.e. promoting or cutting) so we know how many draft slots you have.

we just do rookie draft in the thread like last time right? I am in a busy stretch at work coming up but could def check 2p2 every 6 hours or so.

yup we just did it in the thread last year. as of right now i think there are 41 open minor league spots to be drafted..doubt more than 60 after final cuts. we could probably get that done in a week.

how about final minors cuts by Friday (most people made some cuts already, but we extended the deadline for minor league cuts), and start the draft on Sunday?

i don't think that would work for us this year. we'd have to change the leagues scoring system and salary cap structure. but i like fangraphs a lot and hopefully they expand on this and we can use it next year.

There is a promotion I found for half off, but after a little more investigating youre right it doesnt look customizable enough. Arghh, if this was only available last year.

I really wanna try it out, looks good and will probably only get better.
