After that 2 week period you get an addition 4 free voids until the trade deadline. Any unused ones from the first 2 weeks don't count. After the initial 2 week period, you may only void what is left on the contract pro-rated. So if it is halfway through, you simply void the remaining 2$. Also, if the player is grabbed by another team through waivers or bid up... you can simply take that $$ rather than using your void. You only have to choose to use the void after the waiver auction.
quoted for relevance.

fifield dramabombed immediately after this so this was the last word on it, and i assumed what we were rolling with.

Also you don't have to decide whether or not you are using one of your free voids until after the initial waiver process. Obviously if someone else claims that player and wants to pay for them in the initial process... you don't need the free void.

And let's make the 2 week period the first 2 weeks of the season.

Sounds good. How's that final version of the league constitution coming along? You know, with all that free time you have .

Jack Cust DFA? Are you effing kidding me? No way he's not worth at least $2.65MM, and to make Chavez the DH? It's the AL West, it's not like the A's have no shot.

LOL. I stayed away from him because I was worried he might get platooned or traded to a bench role. Never thought he wouldn't even make the team.

So how does the DL work? I just put Crisp on it. Is it $4 to pick the guy up then when Crisp comes back I just have to cut someone and eat it?

You have to bid on a player through the free agent auction. If you have the high bid as of 9pm Sunday, you get the player added to your roster. It's a weekly cycle.

Yeah I got that, but I shouldn't have to cut anyone if crisp is on my DL, right?

Correct. On the add/drop menu, just tell it that you want it to move Crisp to the DL when the transaction occurs, even if you already did this (the website is just being dumb and asks you twice).

And is the waiver auction info kept private until the winner is announced? I can see it show up on my page, but I'm not sure if anyone else can see it.

So have to wait until they get 130abs or 50IP to add them? and are they added as min contracts or as a rookie contract

So the 3 commishes can see the bids? That doesn't sound good to me.

Why doesn't that sound good to you?

On a more serious note:

If you already rookie drafted them, you can add them at any time once they are on an IRL ML roster.

Otherwise you need to wait for 130 ABs/50IP at which time they are no longer ROY eligible and drop into the regular FA pool. Otherwise you'll need to wait until the next rookie draft.

And they are added just like you would add any other free agent. I will admit this causes a bit of a loophole, but if they weren't drafted in a 13-team 10 round draft, then I doubt anyone is really walking away with a steal here.

Will there be some kind of waiver process or notification or will it be a race to find out who qualifies

I say if you are going to bid on a rookie turned FA you should announce it here.

Or we can simply make it so ANYONE who began the year as a rookie is not eligible to be added until next year's FA draft.

Kinda like the 2nd option better IMO.

well players are only auctioned off on sundays, so unless he gets his rookie eligibility right on saturday night it wouldnt really be a race. i kind of like that. if you're not alert you dont get a bid on him. if you want to make em wait till the next year thats cool with me too.

Yeah I'm pretty fine with either. It's interesting, we're talking about a player who was a rookie outside of the top 130 (well, outside of our top 130) who then plays well enough to garner 130 AB or 50 IP. So it's a surprise, impact player. The teams with cap room are going to be at such an advantage going after such a player that maybe it makes sense to hold off until the off-season. But maybe that's why you keep cap room.

Meh, I'm fine with either as a unilateral decision.
