I was just giving you a hard time because rack had the same question a few posts earlier .

While you can demote non-rookies, there's a very limited window to do so. If Salazar was assigned to the irl minors out of spring training, then you would have had the option of demoting him on your fantasy roster. An owner has to exercise this option before the start of the regular season (though I think we were flexible on this by a week or so, player still never made the MLB club though).

If a player starts out on your active fantasy roster and gets demoted irl mid-season, you still aren't allowed to demote him (like Salazar). This also applies to rookies that you voluntarily promote, with the exception of a 10(?) day window in case it's just a cup-of-coffee by the MLB club.

Also, any player who has exceeded rookie eligibility and is subsequently demoted in this fashion still has their service clock run as if they were a regular MLB player. This is why you'll see some guys in the minors on year 2 or 3 of a contract.
