Confirm. I better win this thing now, cuz I've mortgaged approximately the next decade on this season.

I will consider trading Everth Cabrera for a P (preferably not someone in year 5).

OK

I have things to disclose to the league. I will let you guys make the decision.

I have not paid yet

I have had issues, and they have been perceived as me lying to the community. So this is me fully disclosing my situation to you guys, you guys can be the judge.

I have not worked in 7 months. I had my own business with a friend about 9 months ago and our relationship went sour and we parted ways. I got some money in a ''severance'' but that is all long gone. I have since only been able to find menial jobs that pay low hourly wages and I live in Toronto, so my 1 bedroom rent is 1400 a month and I make 12 bucks an hour when I can find some temporary work. My parents are helping me out with some money at the beginning of each month so I don't starve but most of this is appropriated towards bills and stuff right away.

Also, I can't use paypal because mine got hacked on several occasions so I just told PayPal to never allow an account in my name with my address from toronto etc, and I would have to jump through 1000 hoops to get it back, it's like next to impossible.

So I told rack i'd order some cheques and send him one (at that time I had some money), they took some time to arrive at my branch and in that time something came up unexpected (liisence plate sticker renewal and an emergency trip to the dentist) and i no longer had that money to spend.

someone told me i should have just came out with all of this right away, but a) i didnt think of it at the time, i had other prioroties i was dealing with and b) its ****ing embarassing so i obviously tried to make it work without airing my business, like anyone would.

im in another league on 2+2, i have almost 9,000 posts, i post on 2+2 everyday. I have zero malicious intent to screw the league over or anything. I'm simply just a guy stuggling to make ends meet right now and would love to, but unfortunately haven't been able to pay up yet.

I will recieve another chunk of money from my parents on the first monday of june. I have the cheques already and I will overnight it to rack then. However, I have previously said I would do this and didn't, so theirs doubts are valid.

All I can do is pledge to fulfill my promise this time, I have more money now then I did then (sold some stuff on craigslist and have a few more items up like my car subwoofer and amp and a set of golf irons).

I will pay, 100%

Thanks for your understanding,

Matt

I'm going to largely defer to the other owners on the best course of action, but here's my take:

1) We should set a firm deadline for Muck to pay. I'm not sure if the most appropriate date is two weeks or two months from now. If he doesn't pay by then, he should forfeit the team, but would still have to pay the league fee eventually.

2) If Muck can somehow find a co-owner or independent buyer to take a full/partial stake in the team and pay the fee, that would solve this situation imo. Obviously, the best outcome for everyone is for Muck to pay the fee himself, but introducing a new buyer is probably the most straightforward solution.

I have to say I am not sympathetic because this information could have been disclosed two months ago, even if it was only to the escrow holder and a commissioner. This was a poor way for Muck to handle things.

I'm fine with giving him time. Hope everything works out.

I've been scammed on 2p2 multiple times. This does not appear to be the case. With that said I've been surprised before. I think setting up a league-safe for this league is a pretty good option going forward. Also, did no one pay for 2014 last year? I thought we pay a year in advance?

Yeah I'm fine giving people time as well. That said if this is going to occur (not blaming anyone, just saying) we really need to consider the purpose of paying a year advance. I'm curious how many have done so and if its less than 12/13, I'm not very keen on doing so in the future myself.

As escrow I'd like to take my share of the blame for things getting to this point and apologize to the league for what has transpired. Below is a brief history of how we got here followed by my opinion of how we should proceed

Everyone bought in before the season except Muckface. The only exception is Banhammer is partially paid for year two since Muckface was going to cover half his buy in for that year as payment for their other league. We all had to pay for 2 years this year because last year Exit didn't collect and no one caught it/said anything. I stepped in as the escrow going forward so this would hopefully be avoided in the future. I have a G Doc that is shared with Exit that tracks all the 2p2 names, Paypal ID's and payment statuses.

I kept all 3 commissioners in the loop every step of the way on Muckface's payment problems. I'll spare you all the details but once Muck's initial story fell through it was clear something was up and I told the commishes my Scam detecter was on Orange alert. At that point Karak stepped in and made a second deal that hasn't been followed through on. It now makes sense that Muck is Busto and not actively scamming since I couldn't figure out how a scam would really net him any money in this scenario.

To Muck,

There is no shame in being Busto, people on 2p2 understand that more than any other community. I have multiple irl friends from here that have run it up to six figs only to move back in with their parents. I personally have gone through a period like yours when I was injured at work some years ago, it sucks and can be incredibly stressful. I am confident you will get back on your feet in time.

-Rack

In my opinion Muck should walk away from the league and we sell his team to someone outside the league at a discount. If he is really this strapped for cash I don't feel right taking his money at this time. If he can get it to us at some later date fine.

Sorry it got to this point guys.

Banhammer just got wind of this and instashipped the rest of his fee for 2015.

I am in the "give him time" camp. Its not a great situation, but not sure there are better solutions. Muck is pretty clearly not scamming (or is worse scammer ever) and I doubt it would be easy to sell a rebuilding team mid year. I think giving him a new deadline or payment plan might be best option here.

We did that every other year other than last year - I was in charge of league fees and didn't collect the extra year. I'll vouch for muckface's team entry this year, it's my fault it's not all locked up already.

also, i probably agree with rack that if muck is busto, that he probably should try and sell the team - but that's easier said than done, so i dunno. it's a tough spot.

Update:

I have procured $250 for the express purpose of paying up.

I have the money in my hands. Today was a holiday in canada (everything closed) and tomorrow I have a job interview and a family function in the evening but Wed I will go and get this taken care of.

Is that soon enough for everyone? I'll try to send it overnight if I can.

If I flop on this you can jihad me

That's cool but like a few others said, if you're hitting a rough patch financially there's no shame in just letting the team go. I think everyone would understand, it's just fantasy baseball man.

So Shelby Miller is once again traded for a closer. I definitely had some regrets about giving up Miller after I traded him - especially as Chisenhall proved himself incapable of learning how to hit - and quietly wished for him to fail at every opportunity. Am I the only one who does this? Feels so petty.

Let me know if you'd like Chisenhall back, he's currently got a .906 OPS .
