If anyone is at all interested in JJ Hardy ($7), Justin Masterson ($6), or Wade Davis ($5), let me know. I'd accept an appropriately priced return in the form of prospects or future picks. I know these guys aren't worth much, but they're decent bench options.

Can we set a deadline for MLB Cuts? Like a concrete one. We're running out of time.

Was just watching the NYY/STL spring training game.

Announcer notes that "Kolten Wong" is now in at 2nd base. Just about lost it.

I have John Danks at $15 and Mike Leake at $10 who are surplus to requirements. Would trade either for minor picks/prospects or a better MI reserve than Casilla or Tejada.

now have

fifield
levarkin
danvh
coff
banhammer
muckface
sergsz
mine

so still need cuts from:
pecota
karak
rack
primetime
thayer

i'd expect to get the rest of the cuts tonight, and i'll start entering them into couchmanagers and send out the links for people to get in, hopefully we can get started on wednesday night, maybe 9pmish. that should give everyone a good window to get bids on the first round of players.

btw primetime said he wont be able to pick his rookie until later tonight, so if you're drafting after him and wont be around late you can send me your queue (i dont pick for another 12 picks).

If I were to trade a prospect right now, would I get a supplemental pick?

Yes, because if you trade away one of your prospects and spend all the picks you currently have on the board, you'd only have 9 prospects. To reach the floor of 10, you would be granted a supplemental pick at the very end of the draft.

Yeah, just making sure that applies in the midst of the draft. One might argue we were allotted draft picks on the basis of our minor-league roster at the beginning of the draft, and trading a prospect now is no different than trading one later in the season. But there has been some trading during the draft, not sure if it was for picks . . .

Actually, I need a ruling from Exit or Karak here. I have two rules recorded from back when we were discussing all this:

"If a team trades away one of its guaranteed picks (rounds 1-5) or a minor leaguer, that team does not receive any compensation picks UNLESS the team needs it to meet the roster floor. In that case, the team will be granted a replacement pick at the very end of the draft order to make up for the traded pick."

"If a newly drafted player is traded mid-draft, the player’s former team does not receive a compensation pick."

**********

My interpretation is that the roster floor takes precedence over the compensation pick rule, thus the compensation pick would be awarded in this case. Definitely want an extra commish to post on this though.

I don't think the floor rule means that you always have to be at 10, right? I think it just applies when we're first doling out draft picks.

Seems to me like I wouldn't get a pick according to the rules, and I have to admit that this seems fair to me.
