Or when they walk off the course during a bad round and don't finish, or just flat out don't post any scores that would look bad in the computer...

But yeah. I can't stand sandbaggers. Sucks.
I love these guys.

Anyone ever cured a case of the yips off the tee? I seriously just have the worst mental game ever. I'd be shooting routinely under par this year if I didn't random hit 3 irons out of bounds.

I'm hitting it straighter than ever when I don't succumb to ridiculous swing thoughts. I've been good for about 2 balls OB a round recently. Hit 3 OB last week and shot 2 over, ugh.

To be fair, it was way worse last year when I was shooting in the 90s regularly and in my pocket in half the holes. I thought I mostly kicked it, but now it's back. I'm just taking a week off and seeing how that goes... Or I could just keep playing/practicing and hoping that it goes away? Bottom line is I'm routinely shooting 2-4 over, which I'd normally consider decent. It just sucks to be 3 under then spraying balls like a psycho on the remaining 10 holes.

Just narrow your focus to the most miniscule thing possible. A blade of grass that you want your ball to start on or a specific tree you want your ball to end up at. Easier said than done ofc

Thanks. Ya I've actually been trying the Bubba approach because I do have pretty miserable ADD. I've been hitting a lot of draws with my drivers, but of course that doesn't set up on every hole, and I really don't like trying to fade my driver. Often times trying to work the ball makes you focus on a positive swing thought instead of just the terrifying negatives of trying to hit it straight.

Committing to the shot is the most important part of hitting consistent shots. How can you achieve your goal/plan if you don't have a goal/plan? Without focusing on what you're trying to do, how can you possibly expect to do it?

Any pro tips for selecting 14 clubs? What you hit the best? Where your game needs the most work? Need to choose 3 between 3w, 5w, 3 hybrid, and lob wedge. 14 handicap btw.

pick the ones that don't leave big gaps in your yardages

My suggestion for you would be 5w, 3 hybrid, LW

LW is a definite here since it's utility around the greens trumps any of the other clubs.

3 hybrid because hybrids are great out of the rough.

5w because, I"ll assume, as a 14 hcp you struggle to hit 3w off the deck. This means a 3w is only valuable off a tee. A 5w might cost you 10-15 yds off the tee but it gives you another option in the fairway.

Only tangentially related to golf, but if you have ten minutes, check out this video of a reporter golfing his way across the entire city of Detroit:

I'm on Kauai too. How was Poipu Bay? Where else did you golf? Still around and want to catch a round somewhere?

We have booked a trip for next June to Scotland for 8 days/8 rounds of golf on 8 different courses, with a draw for a foursome to get on St. Andrews at the end of the last day.

Pretty stoked, and just waiting for my buddy to email me the itinerary.

Only one round of golf per day? Wimps!

Seriously, though, you'll love it.

I think we'll be doing a lot of sightseeing and stuff, too. Some of my super extended family is from the Edinburgh area, so I'm hoping to see the tavern that my great grandfather owned.

That was pretty cool.

On an unrelated note, first scramble of the season coming up on Friday, looking forward to it.

I just tested a ton of them a couple days ago, leupold >>>>>> bushnell imo

I went with the leupold GX-3i -- played 2 rounds with it so far and it's awesome, more compact, better grip/feel than the bushnells and way better optics.
