Played my first "serious" round of the year Sunday, played 4 other times but in retooling my swing ( via instructor) I didn't want to worry about results so while I kept score it was loosely kept ( they were in the 110+ range)

Shot 100 on the nose using same ball for entire round and used a mulligan though didn't need it.. I played pretty much bogey golf except for 2 8s on par 4s... One where frustration got to me followed the next hole where good shots yielded bad results... Like hammering a 4 iron on a blind 2nd shot and endind up under the only bush in the area and having to punch out left handed then took 2 to get on and a 3 putt

If I shot this well ball striking wise in 2 months and my putting was not do rusty (couldn't make anything over 3 feet and missed a ton in 3-7 ft range) I think I shoot low 90s easily

Feel this is the year I really turn a corner as I felt confident out there in all aspects and should only get better as year progresses

took my True Tours out for the first time this weekend and walked 18 with no problems, i slipped once on a drive (back foot went straight out from under me) but other than that i felt like i had good traction and they were comfortable, not as comfortable as my old FJ Contours (shoes were the nuts, i wore them out though) but more comfortable than all my other ones

Still looking for golf shoes that are great to wear without socks, I hate socks and current ones get that awful sweaty feeling quickly ... Had a pair of Nikes from years ago that worked perfect but after a year they started to finally smell and can't find them anymore... I know they make running shows that are good without socks so hoping same for golf

I sweat like a bastard but the low rise dry fit socks are the nuts imo. Yeah they still sweat but it's so damn comfortable. I wear Adidas golf shoes that were like $45 and are super comfy and I have never come close to slipping.

Dry fit clothing has revolutionized my life. I bought a pair of those ****ing boxer-briefs that are like $13 a pair but damn they are worth it for golf. Holds your junk so nicely and it's just so comfortable. Final step is applying Gold Bond cream to my crack and taint before playing. Can then walk 18 without worrying about chafing. Yeah I just typed that. I'm here to help.

So im about a 20 handicap and decided to go to a tougher course than I usually play. It is a par 72 with a 140 slope rating. I was solo and I got paired up with two juniors, a brother and sister. I think she was 17 and he was 16. I wasn't planning on playing from the tips but he was playing from there and she was playing from the blues so I sucked it up and went with it. I ask him what his handicap was on the first tee and be says he is a scratch golfer and his sister is the same. At this point I'm stoked but a little nervous in slowing them down and embarrassing myself. I hung with them the first 3 holes with a par then bogey bogey. Then my game fell apart a bit with some lost balls but was able to stick it out. By the end of nine he was 1 over and she was 2 over. They were just lights out. Always a 250 yard drive on the fairway, greens in reg everytime, never a 3 putt, never in a bunker. It was just amazing.

They ended up leaving at the 12th hole and I finished my round at 105 with 5 lost balls, 2 of which were into hazards. I was pretty happy with my score but what really made the round was playing with them. I googled them afterwards and it seems like they are some of the top junior golfers of cali. Her resume was really sick and it seems like she has a real possibility of becoming a professional women's golfer from my limited knowledge. Her name was Hannah suh. Google her and tell me if she has the credentials. I'd post links but I'm on the phone right now.

Been a member since 2004, had to create a new account tho. Of all places to go and promote a golfer this has to be pretty low.

LOLDicksGolfAments

Went to hit some drivers at Dick's yesterday. They have the spin setting off so every drive you hit is right down the middle. I noticed right away and let him try to tell me that this club is the greatest thing in the world for me and then asked him to turn on the other settings. He told me he doesn't know how, so I left.

I wonder how many people they have scammed with that move?

I didn't think this was worth a new thread, so I'll stick this here.

My Buddy's girlfriend started golfing last summer, and (according to OOB) has a handicap of 40.5 Her best score to date was 116. Yesterday she claimed she shot a 94. Does anyone know of a website that has the probabilities of shooting X score with Y handicap? Basically looking to tell her she is F.O.S. without telling her she is F.O.S.

This gives you a ballpark figure:

Looks like somewhere around 850-900:1

that's when you ask what they shot on the back

She may not have kept an accurate score. Especially if she had a lost ball (stroke + distance) (or what many hacks do to save time - 2 strokes).

I had a 32 HC last summer and shot a net 59 with accurate scoring. 10 under is 874:1 and I shot 13 under, net, so something well over 1,000:1 I guess.

You'll notice the odds are less for the higher HC as they have more strokes with which to shoot a sub net. Especially if they are new and finally figured out something like grip, swing, putting, etc. Add in positive variance of not losing a single ball or hitting any bunkers and it can happen.

Noob question.

Say a par 3 has a white concrete marker in the ground next to the box and the white tees are say 5 yards in front of that today and the permanent post says "white: 157".

Is the white permanent marker in the ground at 157, or is that at 150? (This course uses the color white for 150 yard approach markers on driveable holes).

I don't think it makes much difference for me as a hack but every time I play I wish I knew. Basically in this scenario I wouldn't know if today's box is at the 152 mark or 145. In either case I'm likely hitting my 8 so again it's not a biggy but I hate not knowing. I'm pretty sure I just assume it's the 150 marker.

Depends on the course but I'd say majority of courses means that is 150 (and not where the white tees should be)

On a par 3 the stone is going to be the yardage on the card 99.9% of the time.

I'm playing the Oakland Hills South Course tomorrow... very excited. We have a certificate that I won at an outing last year.. would you expect that we would be able to use the driving range? I assume so, but I really don't know what to expect.

Wrap your brain around this stuff. Seriously would be curious to hear people's feedback. This guy discusses micromoves to the fullest. One is the Swing Shorten Cycles (SSC) which we can unknowingly attain at the top which almost automatically jerks the arms back down prematurely (from my understanding).
