In addition to oobgolf I use an excel file, but I wouldn't say it's good. It's just kind of a mess that grew upon itself and probably only makes sense to me at this point.

I was really looking forward to getting out and spending a few hours practicing at the range and short-game area tonight, but it's the hottest day ever in Toronto right now and I don't feel like practicing in 106f (humidity) temperatures tonight.

Yeah feels like 120? Stay out of that. Your Sunday through Wednesday temps look perfect - wait for those. WTF is going on up there?

We are right in the middle of one of the driest and hottest summers we have ever had, the last few days have been unreal. Looks like I'll be teeing off Saturday/Sunday at around 6am to beat the heat, good times.

Your Sunday high is only 81. Much of the US heartland has been really dry this year too. Pretty sure we were or still are on pace for record precipitation low where I'm at. Fairways are all cracked and ****. Though precip has picked up the last few weeks.

Freezing!

So.. my club championship qualifying is this weekend. Buddy who I'm paired with doesn't think I can break 80 with 1 club + Putter. Will it be pretty douchey of me to be playing in our club's qualifier with one-club?

On one-hand I can see it as making a mockery of the qualifying, but on the other hand, who cares if it's score that matters?

FWIW, qualifying won't be an issue so I'm not really sabotaging myself aside from seeding.

What club would you take? Strongest iron I guess?

Yeah. Only 98 in Chicago today.

How do you have seeding in a stroke play tournament? Better tee times?

And I think 80 with a 3 iron and putter could be possible if you're a scratch maybe. Otherwise impossible if you're playing any normal course.

Or maybe a 9 iron and just blade it when you need to hit is 180.

7i or 6i I think would be best choice. Probably the 7i because I have heard some people can hit the 7 like John Daily hits the 3.

Extremely. Don't do that. Have your bet another day.

Show up to the course with your driver and 9 iron. Then putt with your driver.

Putter + 7, 8 or 9 iron.

Practice teeing off with your putter, after little practice I could hit mine 200+ and I am sure others can do plenty better than what I can. Pretty easy to hit it straight too. Just gotta tee it high, and put it up in your stance to get it airborne a little.

I have always wanted to play a round like this for some stupid reason.

But yeah, don't do it at the Club Championship.

7i for sure. Can probly reach most par-5s in 3 without 3 decent shots, probably can reach some short par-4s with two great shots. can chip with it, hit it sort of high and low if needed

Serious answer: Agree with bonito. 6i or 7i + putter

Good enough for Thad Daber, good enough for me... and second club seems like a no-brainer?

If the conditions are 1 club + putter, I probably go with a 6-iron. But I wonder if it'd be better to leave out the putter and pick two other clubs. Maybe 3-wood and a 9-iron or PW? 3-wood gives you good distance off the tee but you can still use it on the fairway if you don't want to hit a driver off the deck. 9-iron or PW would make it easier to get the ball in the air around the green.

Of course if you can drive it 200+ with a putter it's probably best to use it. I've never tried it myself, though.

I can drive it 220 with my putter but can't get a consistent draw out of it. Pity that.

Anyone else here from the west suburbs of Chicago area? Maybe we could get a 2+2 foursome out sometime (which I may be able to get for free).

Yeah kinda thought this would be the general attitude. Part of it is a FU to my club because I feel like the pros and members have really mistreated some of the better golfers with favorable rulings etc.

I'd use a 6i since it's dry and I can just play a rolling hook off the tee and prob hit it 225+.
