After about 30 seconds I think I leave my clubs etc in view and run up to the green with a complete and utter what the **** rage attitude... seems like the guy felt like he was trying to prove a point to you or something and I would have proven a point by jamming his putter up his ass and using him as the flagstick for the rest of the day...

..I am honestly annoyed just reading the story

Went to Target Sunday looking to get some refurbished ProV1s since they sell them for $27bucks for 12 but of course they were out... so I grabbed a 12 pack of Bridgestone B330s (some R, some RX I believe).

I only lost 1 the whole day and it was on a shot that faded too much on my nemesis hole then hit a tree and bounced forward and towards the FW but I couldnt find it I definitely liked them though, I guess someday I will need to stick with one kind.

I mean I just don't think he saw me and was probably semi-deaf. I waited for him to hit on the first hole and he looked like he may have been a bit slow or something. I dunno, the only thing I was kinda upset about was him making contact with my ball. He should have just realized that there was someone waiting to hit their shot that he didn't see nor hear. Instead though I am sure he thought that I just walked up to my shot and hit right away into him.

I see your point but if he was deaf you think he would definitely use his functioning eyes to see if anyone was waiting on him, and if he is deaf or slow then his playing partners should have stuck around or got him the **** out of there...

I am always looking around to see if anyone is waiting etc behind me. We tee'd off on Sunday with no one waiting or even looking like were teeing off anytime soon yet I noticed immediately when a 2 some was walking on the 1st green while I was on the 3rd tee so I kept an eye out and once we got to #5 the 2some was pulling up for their 2nd shot while we were clearing the green. I told them to wait since no one was behind them and let them play through no problem...

People need to be aware of their surroundings, it tilts me when they are not... the 2 other guys in my 4some got a sarcastic comment from me about 4 or 5 times during the round because they were in their own world and not paying attention to us and constantly standing or pulling up in front of us when we were going to hit. Only thing worse than these kind of guys is the "you see where my ball went" guys that do it over and over again... I even slightly hate the guys that do not watch everyone elses shots especially off the tee because sometimes you just lose track of it and having more than 1 set of eyes on it is best

End rant/

There is a show called "Big Rich" on the Style network that is supposed to be modeled sort after the real housewives of orange county or whatever but based in Texas. Most of the first episode was talking about "the country club life" and featured long descriptions of the exclusive country club they are trying to join, etc. I even heard the phrase "Anyone who is someone in Dallas is a member of this club."

Funny thing is, I was a member of this club. It's in Fort Worth, has no initiation fee, and is surrounded by section 8 apartments (where there have been at least 3 murders in 2011). The course is okay and nice enough, but I'd seriously not feel comfortable there after dark.

Anyone actually try the putts AID that Mickelson uses in his video?

...I was thinking about using it maybe during the winter in the house on carpet, also looking for something else I can use indoors for swing plane etc

On the 9th hole, which is a big dogleg right as in it is like 160 straight out then goes at like a 90* angle another 330 or so with water and trees down the entire right side, I always hit my drive straight through the dogleg with a left handed hook into the 1st fairway and play it that way. So I did that yesterday but didn't hook it as much as I wanted and ended up going through the 1st fairway and had about 190 in for my 2nd shot. One of the guys in the twosome in front of me putted out and walked off the green and toward the clubhouse. The other guy, however, just started putting from like every spot on the green with two balls. I waited for about 10 minutes and yelled to hurry up but he just kept practicing. At this time there was a group on the first tee and I was pretty much in perfect range from an average tee shot off that hole so I decided to just hit my 2nd shot and yelled fore right after I hit it. It landed about 3-4 yards short of the green kind of on the fringe and the guy that was practicing putting walked off and hit my ball back about 10 yards with his putter as he did so. I mean I am not really sure what my play here is? There was a group behind me that had hit their tee shot, I was in range for the group on the first tee and this guy had been practicing putting for like 10 minutes previous to this and was walking to the back of the green when I hit for, seemingly, more practice...
If you have a cart then obviously you drive up to the green and ask him if he's lost and point out where the practice green is. Since you didn't have a cart and after yelling fails to fix the problem I would have dug out an old ball or two and started hitting low shots that would bounce and roll up to the green until he figured out it's time to clear out. Once he's gone then I'll hit my real ball and finish up. I'm not going to hit a full shot into the green that could actually hurt someone.

I always want to say "yeah hit a low 3 wood at him" but if you ever actually hit and kill someone doing this, you are going to really regret it.

I'm going to make one. I can't afford to spend $50 on a piece of plastic and some marbles. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with buying it though.

Well, I guess if he's practicing, why shouldn't you?

It would probably be better to hit a lob wedge that landed on his head than to hit a low 3w that you miss judge and hits him in the head.

I've never been hit in the head by a ball but I've been hit in the arm when I was getting in my cart. Other than being pissed it really didnt hurt that much.

Im going to go out on a limb and say that a golf ball at terminal velocity cant kill someone. But one that is hit off the face of the club and is traveling much faster than terminal velocity is very dangerous. To put it in perspective bullets at terminal velocity cant kill you. So the ball that has reached its maximum height and is falling from the sky is a better choice if your miss hit has the possibility of hitting someone.

On a related note I saw someone hit a ball off the back side of the hossel (opposite of a shank) go between their legs and hit a guy in the head that was getting water next to the tee box. The guy was knocked out cold bleeding really bad and an ambulance was called. Then when I got hit by a ball falling out of the sky I had a small sting in my arm but I didnt even have a bruise the next day.

Lob wedge can still cause serious damage, maybe death. They come down at like 50mph (rough math with guesstimate apex based off of known apex of other clubs).

Golf ball terminal velocity is 90mph. See above.

Bullets at terminal velocity can also kill you (~200mph but depends on the type of bullet LDO).

1. I thought people were killed all of the time from falling bullets on New Years (mostly in Kentucky)? I guess they are rarely shot perfectly straight up in the air so they are going faster than terminal velocity?? I don't know I'm clueless.

2. Did you start laughing and then realize it's not funny but then kind of laugh anyway because wow. I somehow found this... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...n/3258107.html

Maintenance guy in Florida got killed a couple months ago when he was hit by a golf ball in the temple. Oddly enough it's the same course where I got one hopped in the lower lip the only time I played it.

Pretty sure a bullet falling at terminal velocity can kill someone. Also pretty sure a golf ball struck by a club can kill someone, too.

The slightest angle can make a bullet travel at a speed > that bullets terminal velocity for the entire length of time that bullet is in the air.

If it is perfectly perpendicular it wont kill you (supposedly). It was tested on mythbusters but Ive never tested it with a real person.

I was first shocked at how bad the ball was hit (Its the only time I have ever seen a ball go between the legs of the person swinging the club). Then I thought "oh **** it hit that guy and he fell down."

The guy who hit the ball is a friend of my dad and to our knowledge he has never played that course again.

Mythbusters proved otherwise. If they are right or wrong might be a debate but I didnt see the fault in their logic.

This is ture. But what Im saying is you are more likely to kill someone if you are trying to hit a low 3wood that rolls up to them than if you are trying to hit a perfect 6i that would land on them on the balls descent.

I believe that is if the bullet is pointed down the whole way.

A bullet falling through the atmosphere will tumble and not stay pointed straight, therefore decreasing its terminal velocity. Unless its a hollow tip which would be more back weighted then it is most likely going to fall backwards (again decreasing the TV). The tumble will also most likely increase the impact area causing less penetration.

Im not saying it wouldn't cause damage and maybe even death in the perfect storm (like the guy it hit had a bad heart and the impact scared him into a heart attack which killed him).

Im sure if it hit on your head it would hurt like hell, but Im sure a ball that landed on your head on its decent wouldnt directly kill any normal person.

So Im just picking the lesser of 2 evils between
1) mis****ting a low 3w and accidently crushing it into someones head
2) hitting a normal club that might possible land on some guys head on the balls descent.

Im no physicist so I haven't done the math to back up my hypothesis but Im pretty sure the more -EV shot is the low 3w (-EV as in its more likely to badly hurt the guy on the green).

Personally I'd take a couple ****ty balls, go 1 club down, and hit 'em just short of the green. Dude would get the point and you're in no danger of hitting him.

Just hit a low stinger and make his head blow up. Dispose of the body in the water hazard.

This works well down here in FL where all the water hazards have gators not to mention if you can hide the body for 31 days you can get away with murder

I stumbled into that show last week when my wife was watching it. I live in Austin and had never heard of that country club so I looked it up. I was cracking up at how a no name club in Fort Worth was supposed to be the place to join for a Dallasite.
