Now due to weather I am ON spendas flight. Reserved a car in indianapolis to drop it off in Chicago. Except rental car company said they don't have any drop off cars available. I am just going to give the keys to the counter at ohare and wish them luck....over under on the penalty set at $250. I have the over.

Shoot, do that and you are IN The Masters, let alone just being able to spectate.

My itinerary so far today.
8:10 direct to Chicago canceled due to weather
9:30 to st Louis connecting canceled due to maintenance.
9:45 la guardia connecting to get to Chicago at 6:30 opted out of
10:10 on spendas flight to indy delayed due to mechanical issues but finally takes off
I book a rental car that is to be returned to Indy tomorrow with full intentions of dropping off at ohare and saying peace out.
Then while boarding flight find a connection to Chicago that takes off 20 minutes after we land.
We will see if weather holds for us to make that flight. Reservations at Chicago Chophouse at 7 so let's hope.
Also, seeing spenda/spenda grandma/ my wife sitting on a bench at dfw airport talking is a funny- random sight.
Also, 5 cocktails into the day so hoping we catch flight instead of having to use the rental car and drive.
Also, $45 on rental car will be the worst $45 I've spent if we don't use it. Well, not THE worst, but a poor use of money.

Unfortunately I'll be back at my club in Ohio for the Championship qualifier.

I'll be back late afternoon Sunday if you guys are still around and wanna grab dinner or drinks or something. PM me if you are interested.

Next time you in-town, hit me up.

I'm not free until Monday (I think they leave Monday) or I'd offer to set up a free round for us. Never played with anyone anywhere near Ship's level, or probably Spenda's either (not sure what you shoot), would be an awesome experience.

There is a small chance I could tomorrow morning or late sunday (like 4ish) if you guys wanted to. But the course is out in Geneva, good hour from the city depending on traffic.

Edit: saw ship's post. Maybe another time, enjoy your time in Chicago guys!

Was going to hit a bucket of balls to work on my short game today since I am going to try the hinge & hold method AND it was 98degrees on my trucks thermometer so I said **** it...

...I will probably play in the same type weather tomorrow right at the hottest part of the day also.

Never claimed I was smart

Far north burbs but I'm going to be out of town for a while. Would love to play Cog Hill sometime (not expecting free, LDO).

Don't ask me why but I have had these 2 things running through my head since I played in a 4man best ball tourney...

#1
If you took 4 high level PGA Pros and they played a round of best ball @ a US Open style what would they shoot (Par 72)? I assume they pretty much birdie or eagle everything and end up with 18 or less putts.

So 18 tees shots, 18 putts.. thats 36 if they reach every Par 4 in 2 thats another 10 strokes (46) reach 2 Par 5s in 2 and the other in 3 thats another 6 (52)..

4 par 3s - 8 strokes
4 par 5s - 14 strokes
10 par 4s - 30 strokes
...would it be reasonable to get a 52 or better. I would expect and o/u of 57 more likely.

#2
You get to pick any 3 living people to fill out your 4some in a best ball tourney, who do you pick...

Bubba Watson - 2 longest off the tee on tour, plus the most accurate of the top 3 and remember he has 2 other guys that can rip it a pretty good distance so he can just crank it and if its bad one of the other 2 guys will pick him up. He also is 71.83% in GIRs which is SECOND on the tour in 2011. Plus he seems like a fun guy to play with...

Phil Mickelson - Pretty easy choice here just for me, while he is shaky off the tee when it comes down to no pressure I think his irons will be great and his short game ability will shine on some of the shorter par 4s and the holes we miss the green in 2 on the par 5s. Just to be able to watch him and pick his brain on his short game would be more than enough to put him on my squad.

Steve Stricker - Currently the best putter on tour, and just a good overall golfer (#1 in strokes gained putting, scoring average, birdie average and par breakers.. Most guys on tour are amazing putters but having the best has to help.

...and then me

Nothing of these guys are accurate off the tee or way up there but overall they will be fine plus are all up there in scoring with Stricker there to hammer home the putts.

..This would be an interesting tournament setup, would make for some great TV and amazing scoring

I'd put the o/u on their score at -18 for a par 72 course. I'd be shocked if they only shot 57 unless it was on Pebble Beach's bumpy poa annua greens in a howling wind.

If you did get to play in this foursome, what would you put the o/u at for number of your shots used? I'm thinking 1.5 for me.

Sounds like a scramble, not a best ball.

Well I was really confused at first since a 52 in a best ball would be nuts on a US Open course.

Edit: I'd probably just pick the 3 longest hitters on tour. There's enough variance in putting (plus we have 4 people) where having the best putter in the world isn't really necessary. It's not like if we all miss a 30 footer that the last guy will have a great chance to save us even if he's the best in the world. He probably makes like 2% more from there than I do.

Our goal is to hit it far and have the best chance possible to get our approaches within 20 feet. From there, we're sitting really good to make a birdie.
