For the purposes of rules nittery, a caddie is allowed to line up his player. (just watch the LPGA Tour) But not allowed to stand directly behind the player while hitting the shot or putt.

Let me also add that this is not a good idea, but your friend did ask you so in the end it's on him.

Do you know how to properly rake a bunker? If not, the caddies of the players behind you will "instruct you" after the round on how to properly do so. It's the countless little things like this make caddying tons harder than it appears.

Have the player give you every piece of advice he can during the practice rounds.

And good luck.

Might I add that after hearing people tell you to help out the other caddies in an effort to keep the group moving quickly and keeping up with the group in front of them, please don't make the mistake of handing the other player his clubs or moving his bag and stuff. Maybe BO or Ship can chime in as it's been a long time since I studied the rules, but I'm pretty certain that you cannot do anything for the other players in your group that would constitute you acting as a caddy for that player.

I just quickly glanced over the decisions that they have on the USGA website and didn't see anything specific to what scenarios I have in my mind from back in the day. Also, as I was typing "USGA" in the previous sentence, I realized that your rules may be different in Europe so maybe everything I say is pointless

I wouldn't stress about this too much. I go to a number of low-level pro events each year, and there are a lot of guys using "non-pro" caddies. You have a few practice rounds to work out the kinks, so you will be fine.

The important thing is to stay relaxed.

Make sure you also get hydrated the night before. Will make life easier for you and allow you to not drink as much water during the event, doubt you can whip it out and pee with a bunch of people around.

Thanks, nt.

What grip did you grab for your driver? And why?

Reason I ask is because I'm looking to re-grip my SLDR but not sure what I'm looking for.

Winn dry-tec standard grip. It felt good in the store to me but not going to regrip all the clubs until I get a few rounds in the it.

I have right hand slipping issues on super humid days so trying to avoid having the club slip on the downswing.

I have right hand slipping issues as well - but that's mainly a function of playing in rainy conditions, because I'll play in any consitions.

Let us know how these grips fair. Thanks.

Will do.
That is also why I got the rain gloves, I don't mind playing in the rain

Are you allowed to touch the shaft of your club when gripping it or is it a penalty?

Let me do you a favor and tell you to go ahead and get another grip. Winn's are awful. Terrible durability and performance.

I put one one a wedge a few years ago just to test it out. Once the original tackiness wears off, which didn't take long, it was awful. Forget about playing in relatively cool/cold weather too as it will become very slick.

You can fondle your shaft at any time while swinging it around. Is your shaft of the dynamic gold stiff variety or more like a senior shaft?

I love when BO makes the kind of jokes on the forum he would never make in front of his golf peers because of the rolleyes factor

Any suggestions for a decent semi tacki grip that does well in humid weather?

Dish soap and a stiff (non metal) brush an then let then dry out for a while. Make sure your hands are always as clean as can be during a round. You'd be amazed at how well this works and this is coming from a guy whose hands get so sweaty in any sort of heat or humidity that I have to often use one glove of a pair of rain grip gloves even when it's not raining.

I tried a couple of different golf pride grips on my wedges earlier this season (I think I posted them in this thread or the golf gear thread - can't remember).

Anyway, the multicompound (mcc) grips were clearly better than the wrap grips (cp2) - specifically for my wedges where feedback is very important.

With that said, I could see myself maybe regripping my driver with the cp2 wraps because they really do feel great and I don't require any real feedback with my driver - I'm really only pulling out my driver when it's time to just grip it and rip it.

I've also cleaned my grips with a cloth and grip tape solvent. Obviously just enough to wet the towel and wipe the grips, not enough to soak into the shaft and loosen the tape.
