These are a little more out of the way but I'll throw em out there

Thanks for the advice. I'd booked at Eaglecrest, but by back was really messed up from sleeping on a couch and driving too much, so had to back out. Next time.

I took your advice and - wow! That was a lot of fun and great value for the money (helps that the Canadian $ is weak right now). Wish I'd played better (shot 89 from the second-to-back tees. But every hole was exceptional, the bunkering was beautiful. The course was in great shape (wouldn't have minded faster greens). Every missed shot seemed to find a bunker, which I take as a sign that a course designer knows what he's doing. I was paired up with a really nice local businessman who had some interesting stories and was great for conversation. Thanks again!

Random strategy question: I've got a slice and I read I should try taking practice swings with a towel under my left arm and swing without losing the towel so I'll keep my arm on my body. Does this work? I tried and swinging felt odd to me. I can see putting it under my right arm, but I'm confused about the left one. Thoughts? Help me fix my slice plz.

I would recommend you get a lesson instead of taking random internet advice. One of the ways you can slice is a ball is to get your arms disconnected from the body and 'leave them behind' in the swing which can result in a wide open club face producing a slice. But that's not necessarily the reason that you in particular are slicing.

Yeah TheRick,

any "swing tips" to fix your slice probably aren't going to fix the fundamental issues you have that cause it. You need to get someone who knows what they're talking about to evaluate your swing to see what's causing it, and help you fix it.

The towel trick works ok if that's the cause of your over the top move but there's a number of things that could be causing slice.

Played one round with this thing on Sunday, I gotta say it's pretty incredible so far. Distance and forgiveness are both +++

Sweet glad you like it, am thinking of dumping my SLDR and will probably get the one you got or the R15. SLDR is brutal when it comes to distance lost when you miss the center of the club face.

As for the towel slice problem someone was asking about obv lessons from a pro is best but if you post a picture of your swing face on and dtl then someone here will at least point you in the right direction in terms of fixing the slice.

Rockbottom extended the 30% off everything for another 36 hours. Finally decided to actually get a game golf unit since it only cost $100 during the sale

Sweet tyvm guys. Yeah I should get a coach, I just didn't really want to this close to the end of golf weather where I am. I may have gotten super lucky cause I worked on the arm on body stuff and my bucket of balls at the range was much better than before. Bad slice turned into a straight shot, more small pulls than anything else. We'll see if it stays that way when I get a round in.

The pulls are pretty much a slice but with a closed club face

I had to practice it for a long while but learning to isolate the shoulder turn movement from the downswing movement starting with the hips went a long way for me in fixing a slice.

Swing advice anyone? First time I've ever filmed myself, my first thoughts are too long of backswing and I finish way left. I generally slice the ball if my swing didn't already scream that but do hit it pretty far on good ones. Sorry if the view isnt great, I had to make do with my phone rested on my bag lol

I'm not really good enough to give you advice, but you do seem to take it back too far. I had a bad slice too and while some people said this might not have solved the problem and I just need a coach, I hit it way better after I learned to put a towel under both armpits and swing with your arms near enough to your body that the towels don't fall off. Gl.

Your backswing is really long and across the line at the top. This is making your right elbow chicken wing at top. Your backswing is probably a little fast which might be the reason it is long, all the momentum of the club head keeps it going backwards even when the rest of your body is trying to stop it. Also looks like you have a fairly large amount of reverse pivot but face on angle will answer that. You are also way steep and over the top on the downswing.

Close the gap between yourself (or your feet) and the ball; step in a foot or two and it'll help straighten your posture up a bit, naturally.

This should force a more efficient swing, organically.

Hit the TaylorMade M1 driver today, predict it will fly off shelves like no other driver has in recent years. Looks good, launches high with little spin. Hit balls off several different spots on the face and every one of them flew dead straight. Felt like cheating.

And all that was just with standard settings on all the adjustables. Would think with a bit of tinkering one could dial up almost any shot shape they wanted.

I rarely gush about a club and rarely change, but IMO this will be a game changer.

Oh man I am getting really tempted to fork out way too much money for it. I was amazed how fast it got put in the bags of the TM players in the middle of the playoffs
