What I would do at my club in a situation like this is post the cc scores along with penalty scores.
Could you expand on "penalty scores"?

Also -- major lol @ reid

On another note -- Anyone here gone up to Kohler to play at the Whistling Straits resort? Thinking of getting a few buddies to do a weekender up there, maybe one night and two rounds or something.

You should read through the usga handicap manual and take some recommendations to your pro.

But a penalty score is a score entered by the handicap committee when a player doesn't enter their scores themselves. The penalty score is equal to the players low score in the system. So basically in your situation if the guy shot 70 three times but didn't post them, and 70 is his lowest score in the system, then you would post those three 70's he actually shot along with three penalty scores of 70. If he has a 68 in there, then the penalty scores would be 68.

lol six round of 70s would be amazing. He'd **** a brick at the next revision

And theoretically if you knew of, say, 10 scores he hadn't posted, then the committee could post penalty scores of 70 for each of those.

Reid doesn't read other posts apparently...

BTW, my head pro is DFL by a big margin now. Might shoot 100 today

Question: as reported in my thread earlier this summer, I got new irons and a new 3w that I hit off the tee. I am used to them and am hitting them preety well. My distances are def. different than my old set, but I am still a little uncertain how far I am hitting each club. The range I usually go to doesn't have good markings; what's my best way to determine how far I am hitting all of my clubs?

Go to course late in evening. Find any empty hole, hit 10 shots with each club and average them out.

Buy or borrow a laser range finder.

Anyone here played with a mizuno hi fli 2 iron, or an adams a12 pro hybrid? They both look appealing for a lower launching hybrid compared to my R11 moonblaster.

I think I'm gonna go take my old 585h (which I flat shelved and haven't thought about since I got my R11 last year) and see how far I'm hitting it on the launch monitor. That thing was so much easier to hit IMO, much straighter. I'm swinging so much better now than I was when I dropped it.

Also, I'm heading to beaver creak/vail CO area for a week on Thursday to play golf. I think we're going to try to play the red sky courses a bunch (norman course is awesome), and maybe the sonnenalp course (nice little semi-private track). Too bad cordillera closed their ridiculous summit course due to expenses, it was pretty crazy up there. I guess it makes sense since I never saw anyone else playing it.

As for what the Club said -- my pro tweeted @ me the other day saying something about #peerreview

It is pretty asanine that this guy isn't ostracized at the Club for sitting on such a high handicap. Funniest is that people continue to play him for money (they play $3 a point wolf with par par vs bogey bogey being 44 vs 55 in the game).

Then again -- they probably all have their hcps inflated so it is about an even playing field.
The pro shop staff posted scores for the members at the club I used to work at. We even had online posting disabled such that the members had to turn a card in to get a score posted.

This didn't eliminate bagging obv, but compared to other area clubs, I think we had more accurate handicaps.

I heard David feherty say something along the lines of "confidence is just that warm fuzzy feeling you get before you fall flat on your ass". I think that sums up golf pretty well. ****iness just blindsides you.

btw DaWarsaw (the guy on the banner at the top, PS online team pro with the latest short vid) is the guy who I traveled during Euro2012 and played golf.

he is the guy that made that stupid golf bet I mentioned few times- best prop bet i was ever in.
after playing for about 6months he said that in the next 15 months he will play 3 rounds of golf during one day with total score +15
odds 3-1 and 5-1 (I wanted more action )

I think he has never broke 110...

I tested the a12 vs. the R11 actually and had the same experience. R11 went way too high, a12 produced a much more penetrating flight for me and its head is deeper as well. They also come with a better stock shaft.

How many rounds do I need on oobgolf before my handicap becomes valid?
MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread Quote

it will start calculating it after the first or second score entered, as you move up to 20 scores entered it will start using more and more rounds to calculate it (so with 10 rounds entered it will take the 3 best ones etc) until you get to 20 and then from there on it's your 10 best rounds out of the last 20

it isn't an official USGA handicap though

Him: @alexjhuang Golf is a game of integrity, every club in America has players post their own scores. It's called peer review. #nocapsincc

TBH, I really like this pro (his first year) and he's done a tremendous job at our Club. Just a shame that one guy at our Club is taking advantage of the self-posting system which can dilute the competitive-balance at our club.
Our pro inputs all our scores. Without our pro doing ECS for all scores, tons of bad scores would be getting entered I'm sure.

I've got a set of AP1's, 4-P and a set of Cleveland wedges (52, 56, 60). I hit the PW about 145 and the 52 about 115.

I found out the PW is actually 45 degrees and that they sell another wedge at 50. The AP1 set is from 2008, so I can't get a matching wedge unless I scrounge up a used one.

Best play seems to be replacing the 52 degree Cleveland with a 50 degree vokey wedge but I wanted a second opinion.

lol @ 45* though. I hope they advertise "10 yards longer" for the irons too

TM's Burners also got 45* PW (AW is 50*, SW 55*)
R11 Iron also 45* PW
same 45* with rocketballz

only Tour Preferred MB and MC are 47*

Anyone here like to play a 44 or 44.5 inch driver? I think I'm going to try a shorter shaft for more overall consistency, 45 isn't quite cutting it for me anymore. I can't wait to see if there's any ball speed to be gained from a good shaft fitting when I get home from my trip. My smash factor is pretty crappy right now with my driver, not sure if a new shaft will help that though.
