Yeah. I still haven't figured out how to get my panicked full swing mindset to mimic my panicked putting mindset. When I'm on the green, I feel this do-or-die pressure that results in absolute clarity and focus. When I'm out in the fairway or on the tee I'm like "omg I don't even know how to swing the club holy **** where is this going to go?"

Same. I actually didn't even know the practice rounds were a separate draw.

First poker, now this, what is there to live for?

Matt?

JK I have a friend named Matt that is the same way. The kid never misses a pressure put. Its become such a joke.

Last time I played with him another one of our friends (John) gave him 3 strokes on the back 9. They were even going into 9. We get near the green John has a 8' for birdie and Matt has a 35' birdie put from just off the green (double breaker). I look at John and say "you better make that birdie if you dont want to lose this bet." He replys "I know tell me about it I might as well give him his put now."

Needless to say Matt sinks his and John 2 puts.

It happens every time. I've never seen anything like it before.

I've been catching up on episodes of the Dan Patrick Show and they've had a ton of golf content since Stevie won the WGC. They interview Steve Sands a few times, John Daly, and Bones.

Maybe worth a listen for those of you who enjoy podcasts.

Just got back from a little practice session. The course has two putting/chipping greens with about 40 yards of space between them, but there is no "fairway" or similar grass surrounding the putting greens, it is all thick rough. Some jackoff apparently decided he needed to practice 40-yard pitches, but didnt want to hit them from the rough so he dropped balls on the fringe of one green and hit them to the other. And apparently those 40-yard pitches require a massive divot. From the looks of it he went back and forth between the two greens several times, leaving giant divots on the nice fringe inches from the green. I know they are just practice greens and fringes, but seriously? God, why am I still amazed every time someone does something like this...I should know by now that people in general are ****ing impossibly ******ed.

Better news: had an epiphany that I was strangling my putter grip. Lightened the grip pressure and suddenly my distance control has been spot-on for the last week.

Wow @ that.

Was lag putting one day to 1 hole with like several balls and was on the perimeter of the green and some tard showed up and started pitching to various holes, including the one I was using, mid-putt. I think he was a teacher or something - he was there with some fine high school girl so I guess he was trying to get his alpha swag on or some ****. Anyway this isn't even a chipping green.

So marshall steps out the door and calls over to him so I look up then look over at the dude who is looking at me after pitching another ball at my hole and he sees me looking at him and is like "Sorry bro - I'll stop." and I just point over at the Marshall who yells at him to stop chipping.

I'm kinda new to this whole golf thing but isn't it kinda standard if someone is putting to a dedicated hole that is not in the middle of the green to basically leave him alone? There are like 6 holes he could have used.

Standard to stay out of someone's way on the putting green, what a douche

I putt towards holes my friends are using sometimes. It's not a big deal then or at least not with the folks I play with. It might piss off some nitty stranger though so it's not a good idea to do it with strangers.

There's also no requirement you putt to a hole on a practice green. If there's six holes and they're all in use just stick a couple tees in the ground and putt to that spot.

My course has a practice facility with a green plus a putting green next to the first tee. The other day I saw a kid who works there hitting 40 yard flop shots to the putting green. Really doubt he fixed any ball marks.

So I guess I was being nitty then?

I mean I was the only one on the green before him and his student showed up and within less than a minute of him setting up on the green pitch shots were landing near my pin while I'm standing over a putt lining it up. Friends tag-teaming the same hole is one thing but I just met this dude.

Think I figured out the main culprit for my recent driver megastruggles. Pretty sure my feet were way too far apart. I had 24" between my feet at address. Watched a lot of face on vids from YouTube and noticed most of these guys' feet are closer than that. Also this was causing my front heel to come way up off the ground and the balls of my foot to rotate allowing my hip turn. THat's way too much movement out of my front foot and I think it feels normal for me being a baseball hitter. But most people seem to just turn their front foot over along the side of the shoe during the backswing. Took several practice swings in the backyard and my base felt much more controlled. Trying to do more like 18" between feet, not 24". Felt much smoother and more stable with the narrower stance and still was able to not be too vertical with the swing. May go play a round tomorrow and see how it works out.

No, you're not being a nit. Holes are first come, first served. You own the hole until you start putting at another one. If the green is full of people, then it's a different story. If there are multiple holes open, the other guy gets to choose numerous locations to hit at. Hitting to the only hole occupied is a lol move that you expect beginners to pull. I can assure you this dude has problems.

He seemed remarkably insecure. He was like a 25 year old asian dude there with a 17 year old hot blond (well, hot for a municipal putting green). They didn't stay long and they drove off in his Lexus. Was weird. Also was funny that the first time I looked over at him he started apologizing like he knew he was being a dickhead but was probably trying to show off for this girl. He was pretty good at pitching so I don't think he was a beginner but he was certainly a douche.

Hitting chips and pitches are definitely a no-no anywhere close to where someone is putting.

Damn, that girl was municipal putting green hot bro.

The place where I practice has a ton of range balls on the chipping green. I use my own balls since range balls blow. Anyways, one guy snagged 3 of my balls up in his tubed shag bag thingy while I was pitching. When I got done with the rest of my balls I went over to him and he had already put them in his bag, he was like "thought I got lucky!".

Was he wearing a belt with a diamond-encrusted "AK" belt buckle? If so, I think I know who it might be.

What are peoples thoughts on chipping and putting with the glove on? Ive always done it that way, but I see a lot of people taking it off for putting.

I play all shots with a glove except for putting. Do whatever's comfortable for you though.

I never chip or putt with a glove. Been that way since I was 5.

Its just a preference thing. I prefer the feeling of not having a glove. To me it seems to add more feel to the shot. Dont know if it really does or it is just a mental thing for me though.

Having skin on the club instead of a glove will obviously give you more feel. But that doesn't mean you'll putt or chip better.

Anything inside 30-40 yards and the glove is off for me. My short game is just purely imagination and feel and it seems like I have a lot more control and feel if I ditch the glove. I tried to get more mechanical once after I watched Phil's dvd...that did not go well and screwed up my chipping for a month or two.
