See, my head fake on the scramble got you out to the range and now you are ready to roll! We should hit up Top Golf sometime.

I hit a 7.5 degree Cobra with a 44" red Vodoo X. I tried 50 combinations of Titleist drivers last year that all spec'd great on the launch monitor and none ever beat the Cobra. The only launch monitor worth its weight is the doppler one (forget name) that is 40k that gives actual carry data. The Golfsmith or PGA Tour superstore ones suck and I am convinced gross up numbers about 10% to sell drivers - more conspiracy theory.

i was ballooning a lot of my drives (240-250yd) my first few rounds of the year, my driver is 10* - i went and got fit for a shaft that was much heavier and stiffer than the stock shaft in the driver - hello lower ball flight, more distance (now about 260 avg. with more 285+ yd drives in the last 2 months than i can ever remember having in the past) and more confidence on the teebox - just something to consider, im a 17 hdcp so take it fwiw

Yeah, trackman. Can't wait til I have a spare 30k or w/e lying around and I will make that machine my wife. Even the tour guys @ the match play were getting excited about it.

We have one at TPC Craig Ranch we can use whenever and it is addicting. Info overload but at least it's actual opposed to theoretical carry yardages.

Love the make it my wife line...

+1 for this. Also, shaft makes a huge difference. I hit the ball super high and put way too much spin on it, and was going to get a 8 degree or something as low as I could get it, but instead I got an extra stiff shaft with (I think) a "low kickpoint" or whichever one helps for me, and went with a regular 9.5. I took a lot of spin off my drives, but am probably still not quite maximized.

As stated before, putting is my weakness, but at the US Open in 1999 I had 36 putts both days. When I finished the first round a buddy called me and said "holy shi* you hit 2 greens more than Tiger, and he beat you by 11". Thanks.
lol, that is pretty funny. The Masters looks like it would eat up an amateur a lot more than other major layouts. I think that "break 100 thing" is a little bit bogus. I shot 82 at Torrey Pines from 7100 (or whatever the back tees were) yards as a 10 handicap who didn't hit the ball well a few years ago. There was a lot of "drive into rough, hack into fairway, pitch 2 putt" bogeys.

I know a US Open layout is much more ridiculous but meh, a 100 is a lot of strokes to play with. Also, they always say it is a "US Open layout", but then one of the hardest holes at TP in '08 was shortened to a 290 yard par 4 for excitement. The amateur had to play it from the tips.

In 2 rounds this weekend I hit 4 300 yard (wind-assisted) drives. First time reaching that milestone and I did it 4 times in one weekend. I'm a machine.

Today I hit onto the par-3 green from the tee, and the ball stopped 25 feet from the hole, lying 1, which I was thrilled with. Then I made a great putt and the ball stopped about 6 inches from the hole, but when I was walking up to tap it in, celebrating the higlhlight of my round, the ball rolled back down 15 feet toward where I struck it from. I putted it again and again, each time it rolled back from the hole at least 10 feet, and I finally got it in on the 8th try for a 9.

That's just not right.

yea and she was the best golfer in the world the past 5 years, you can't say "what's hard to understand" about someone you yourself don't understand

edit: best female golfer, but in all reality, best golfer relative to competitors is probably correct also

Sir, are you new to the internets? Having uninformed e-pinions and using them to bash others for their uniformed e-pinions is what the 'net is all about.

Also: Annika did the same thing, just she was a few years older. LDO. Women are just different, man.

Annika had accomplished a lot more than Lorena, Ochoa only has 2 majors while Annika I believe has 10.

besides the husband being worth megabucks (which i was unaware of), nothing from that statement helps me understand anything.

This is more what i was getting at. I can understand stepping away when you're still on top or whatever, but this takes it to a new level.

What's everyone's take on using a range finder? Ok? Cheating?

USGA ruled on this a couple years ago and they are allowed (for giving yardages), to my knowledge. So definitely not cheating.

I wouldn't play in a weekly group that didn't use them. Nice time saver that allows for more beer and banter.
