Another rules question:

Say my tee-shot slices into what is OB, but it's pretty close and I might be able to find it up against the fence. I hit a provisional anyways just in case, which does the exact same thing: slice towards the fence along the same distance and line, but possibly in bounds and playable.

If I didn't take note in any difference in the second ball I hit, what's the ruling here if I walk up and only find one ball? I'm not sure which ball it is. Do I assess any penalties here?

I am pretty sure if you can't identify the balls as different you go back and play a 3rd...hitting 5 off the tee. Should have marked your ball!

Correct. Even if both balls are found in bounds, if you can't identify them, you go back and hit 5.

or, do what I do and just pick the one that ended up in the best spot.

Okay, that's what I thought. And just as a dumber follow-up... it's not a penalty to find your first tee shot but to not find your provisional, right? You just lose the ball.

Correct. Once you find your first ball your second ball is out of play (unless the first one is OB).

If you hit your first ball in the woods, then hole your provisional, you shouldn't look for your first ball.

speaking of leaving clubs....

After a good drive on the 7th hole I see people from last hole are saying YOU FORGOT YOUR CLUB to my friend. They start walking towards each other (holes are parallel with trees separating them). So I walk over there to see the exchange and instead of handing the club to my friend (my friend was about 6 yards away from getting it) the guys chucks the club, completely over my friends head, and it lands in like dirt with a bunch of small rocks.

Figured wtf I would be pretty annoyed if that was my club. My buddy picks it up and sure enough- its my club. Was not sure if this asian kid (mid 20's) did it maliciously or if he was an idiot. We weren't slow and they were a bunch of hackers so probably the latter?

I certainly wouldn't ever throw a strangers club. Let alone when we were in a forest type of area where the blade can get damaged.

Not sure if this is the right place to post...

If low handicapers want to play at Cinnabar Hills in San Jose, pm me.

Guess we'll make it the right place. Any South Florida golfers? My usual partners are all out in Vegas for the series and I just got a whole new bag worth of clubs, itching to try 'em out but I don't really feel like going out by myself.

I think there is a actual thread for this, but I live in SF and I'm a ~13 and play with forum Mod Evan sometimes. I might be interested.

I'll play just about any time. The catch is it has to be at Cinnabar bc I'm an annual member there and can't justify playing anywhere else.

Not golf related, but I enjoyed it:

To keep it on topic (golf), Robert Lee's cousin played in our tournament today, and his team finished last. He didn't care.

So I got hit in the neck on Sunday with a golf ball. After hitting our tee-shots on a par 4, we were walking down the cart path when it happened. It was so quick I didn't have any time to react. Thankfully the ball hit the cart path first, then bounced up at me, and thankfully it hit me where it did. The funny thing was, I barely even felt it, I guess the ground took a lot of it's momentum away.

Normally this would have infuriated me to no end and probably ended up in a fight, I would definitely have contronted the person. Instead I decided that, for the other guys own good, I would avoid him. So I just walked the other way and tossed the guy an icey glare on the way past him. He barely even apologized which should have infuriated me even more, but I stayed pretty calm.

Picked up some nickent 4dx ironwood hybrids. Initial impression is that these clubs are awesome, effortless long straight shots.
