I meant it as a one time weight gain thing. You can lose the weight after and still maintain your height. But loose skin concerns also apply.

For instance, I'd probably not be willing to do 6'1 260, cause that would result in a lot of loose skin when I then cut down to a BMI of 25. 6'0 240 might be pushing it as well. But 5'11 220 would be an easy call.

I'd just pick whatever height that I thought was optimal (6'2" imo, so 4" for me) and cut from there. Not worried at all about the loose skin stuff. That can be dealt with surgically. There will be some scarring, but that's a price I'd pay for more height.

At least for me, it may not even come to that. I basically lost 70lbs in about 1.5 yrs and had no loose skin at my lowest weight.

I bet loco would lose an inch to lose 20 lbs of fat, then beat off to the lack of brown fat around his organs and cranium fat in his skull during his next DEXA scan.

5'6" 149 lbs? MASS MONSTER

You're right, 5'8" 35 lbs would probably solve that problem pretty effectively.

:hifive:

I think some of you people are a bit masochistic in that you like being on a cut because it makes you feel like you're actually doing something to reach your goals, even if it's a relatively easy something.

Loco is 5'7"? Looks taller in his vids.

He's either 5'10 or 5'11. I can never remember. Fakebusto is whichever of those 2 Loco isn't.

Melk,

Below a certain threshold, I pretty much group shorts into height bands that look alike to me. He could easily be 5'10" or something, but that's still lilliputian so who cares.

Yeah,

It is kind of analogous to picking up Olympic lifting when you exhaust newbie gains in the strength lifts.
07-23-2014 , 05:11 PM
Yes it is true indeed that I would give up an inch of height for 20 pounds of pure fat. Snap call.
5'9 149 ripped out of my mind. Bulk to 160, call it a life. A good life.

Kind of, except not at all, but kind of.

HTF do I get dudes showing in my feed? Do they say they're girls that like guys, or is Tinder algorithm off? Probably should hire the pied piper guys. They can write some sexual algorithms.

I'd have to assume they are gay and swiped you. Since there's prob something built into the algorithm such that anyone you swipe sees you back at least once to maximize matching. As to why you're showing up in their feed in the first place, well, I dunno.

Just a guess though.

Once I figured out actually getting strong was out of the picture for me for a variety of reasons, I realized getting not as fat would allow me to kind of get closer to an aesthetic goal while backing into being at least proportionally stronger, which is kind of a win. Deciding to move over to oly lifting after you were able to back squat four and a half plates and (presumably?) didn't want to progress further in powerlifting is more than a bit further up the impressiveness continuum, at least imo.

I can confirm loco is 5'7". He just stands on his tip toes every time he's in a picture.

Agree to disagree?

I would have definitely picked up some height at one point. But I'm married now so I'll stay 5'9" and be comfortable in all airplane seats.

What do people think of having a thread for powerlifting. THere is already one for oly lifting that doesnt get many posts. Seems like Skeletor and I are pretty much the only ones who regularly talk about meets that are going on and people in the LC thread my be annoyed about by our discussion. Also, there could be info for first meets and meet reports that people here do so it is easier for people who are thinking about getting into powerlifting to find.

DT, your opinion is not needed or wanted on this question.

Snap.

I think it's a good idea.
07-23-2014 , 08:47 PM
+1. Surprised it doesn't already exist.
07-23-2014 , 08:54 PM
+2

Though I must say that I am a big fan of the LC meet discussion, and it doesn't seem to me that anyone but DT has any problem with it.

qft

I like having it all in one thread. Non LC threads also have a tough time with momentum. oly, recipe, HC, my log etc so there's that, too.
