he's reasonably active on his youtube channel. he went ~180 and ~220 last week.

Can we use him as an example of someone who is very strong super strong the strongest yet doesn't appear to have abs? All that core strength and it doesn't even show.
07-03-2014 , 09:29 AM
yeah, but it doesnt matter because those bitches were so moist anyway.

He has considered moving up to the 105kg class so maybe it's intentional.

I love how on his front squats he just unracks, left step, right step and then descent. So efficient. Minimal energy loss. James Joule would be proud.

I guess you could say he's considered it:

Ilya's so DYEL. I used to think it was just training only sn/cj/squats that made it this way, but a lot of guys who train similarly with no accessory work at least have good back/abs/traps/shoulders. I think the level of muscularity for a given level of strength is just really variable (JDOCK vs Busto).

Yeah fakeb was just talking about it in Monte's log IIRC. I used to agree with his stance that heavy DL/Squat relative to bodyweight was important wrt developing abs. Ilya clearly refutes that ridiculous theory.
07-03-2014 , 10:55 AM
Last thing I heard is Ilya is a vegan or vegetarian, so keep that in mind when considering his aesthetics. He also took something like a year off of training, but he never really looked much like an IEL anyway.

i want to get a kindle, almost strictly for reading and renting textbooks on it. i already have a macbook air, and an ipad mini so I really don't want another tablet. what model do i buy? and would it be smart to buy refurbished?

Are you trolling? Visible muscularity is clearly related to leanness. The correlation of strength to bodyweight is important only if you're also considering the lifters bf%. AKA fatties look fat, even if strong.

I have an old kindle fire. I mostly use it as an e-reader so have no reason to upgrade. The interface for books is superb. Refurbished is fine.

Can you not just get the kindle app for your ipad mini tho???
07-03-2014 , 03:15 PM
Get the cheapest Kindle they sell, I have it and it works really well. I actually have a *gasp* older model, you could get one on eBay really cheap I'm sure.

You may want to consider cutting up your credit card.
07-03-2014 , 03:24 PM
Yeah, you can get a used/refurb fire for around $60. Excellent purchase.
07-03-2014 , 03:27 PM
A lot of people prefer the Paperwhite if you're not gonna use apps/video etc, but I hated the one I saw, ymmv.
07-03-2014 , 03:30 PM
If it's just for an e-reader, I think that's prob the better purchase. Can be used in the dark and in bright lights. The fire is a ****ing brick on the beach. You can't see anything. But I on rare occasions also use it to play games or watch movies on Prime/Netflix/HBO/etc.
07-03-2014 , 03:31 PM
owns an ipad mini and a macbook air

i wont have any discussion of a fire. seriously, gtfo.

Can't fathom buying anything like this when there's free apps out there which do the same thing on those devices which have already been purchased...

Kind of on this topic: Has anyone used a surface pro? The idea of having HEM on a tablet sized device sounds too good to be true, so the surface pro 3 sounds amazing to me, but I've got no idea how good the things actually are. Also 1500 + shipping to China for something I can't test myself is a lot.

I own a fire. Use it all the time. It's awesome for the NCAA football rulebook and officials mechanics manual with search and bookmark capability.
