Day drinking GOAT, evening hangovers WOAT
06-13-2015 , 05:35 PM
[hhhnnngg] just celebrated my 30th bday tonight. In bed with a girl from california who is a full bright scholar (wtf does that mean?) and working in women's rights (abortion i guess?) but more importantly she is petit and half my size. [/hhhnnnnggg]

Should have just continued drinking until you went to bed.

Confirmed Aemon old. I'd prefer to be 10 years younger, but it's fine, really.

Well played SS

It means she's smarter than you.

And she puts out.

Winner.

The expanded RPE scale:

10.5: You missed it but totally could have done it.
11: You missed it; -1 reps left in tank.
11.5: You really missed it; -2 reps left in tank.
12: Would have died without spotter.
12.5: RPE@10 upright row for spotter.
13: You missed it and you're dead.

Broke my foot camping yesterday. Toughed it out until 5am this morning when I went to er and had it confirmed. Dr. wanted to cast it for six weeks. Big race I've been training for starts in six weeks. Refused the cast, now I'm rocking a boot and get to visit an ortho on Wednesday.

Axes are dangerous kids.

Breaking your foot with an axe pretty perfectly straddles the manly/stupid line imo.

Thanks for the warning, I never would have guessed. GL with your recovery.

damn, son

I think that getting out of an axe accident with just a broken foot is running solidly above expectation.
06-13-2015 , 09:13 PM
How's the axe?

Absolutely.

Bought a new axe for the camper as my old wooden handled rig finally broke over memorial weekend. Instead of the tried and true wooden camp axe, I replaced it with a fancy light weight metal handle rig. Mainly, because **** it, it looked cool.

My wood is/was split before I left. But being the good camper I am, and rage to use my new axe, I volunteer to split and start a couple other people and get their fires started.

New axe is ultra springy and just won't bite. I've been working in the woods and burned wood for heat since I was a kid. You either want it to split the log or get stuck in the log. The last thing you want is it to bounce back.

Long story short, it bounces, I flip the blade so the hammer side hits my foot instead of the blade. It's happened probably a handful of times in my life, except instead of work boots I'm wearing sandals this time.

Being good with an axe is definitely on the manly/stupid line. But for looking good, showing off my new axe, I wouldn't have broken my foot.

Csb; chicks dig scars, damn son that coulda ended way worse.

Nice ninja skills flipping the blade to avoid losing your foot
06-13-2015 , 10:02 PM
Think I'd rather have lost the foot than be subjected to the fashion depravity that is that boot
06-13-2015 , 10:47 PM
Solid trip report w/ pic.

H&F consistently does things right.

Boot is ghetto. If I avoid the cast and end up wearing a boot for a couple weeks, I'm going to buy something not quite so ratchet.
06-13-2015 , 10:54 PM
So did you have a boot with you, just in case you broke your foot? Did it come with the axe?
