To be fair UIGEA was almost completely dead before it got slipped in, too.

This is all I meant. Pure speculation, but fairly significant for Reid to say he prefers no amendments to the bill. The odds that this would be included in the committee version are slim to none.

If the bill comes out of conference committee, then the bill as it comes out of conference committee cannot be amended before it comes to a vote.

In other words, if poker is included in the conference committee version, then both chambers vote on the bill with poker attached. If it is not attached in the conference committee version, then both chambers vote on the bill without poker.

I hate to be a pest to Karak, but he has not weighed in with what he is hearing, so the sweats not over yet imo.

Sucks that this isn't going to happen, but I will never understand why soo many people on this site get so excited for these things based on flimsy rumors with no evidence to back it up. How often have situations like this actually worked out in our favor in the history of online poker? Pretty sure that number is ZERO! Sad but true

I don't think Karak's hearing **** moment by moment.

I certainly don't think that the sweat is over, and I really doubt that we'll know whether it's going to be included until we see the text of the bill (or all relevant bills, if they're separated).

As is true in almost all of these situations, you guys would probably be way better off if you go do something else for a week and then come back and see what happened.

all it takes is one time to be successful. How many times did UIGEA fail before it passed? Does that even matter 6 yrs. later?

i was under the impression that karak had an office next door to this thing and was listening in through a highball glass....

also that refreshing and commenting in this thread gives him the strength to continue.

well considering its only like the second time ever we've had a legitimate sweat I say excitement is perfectly reasonable.

I have respect for Karak. I trust his trust in his sources. I don't think he or them are creating things out of thin air.

No, not at all. I knew online poker was destined to fail as it was prior to Black Friday. There was no way the U.S. would have a system that barred U.S. based sites while permitting offshore ones. It was inherently unstable.

I also wanted a mechanism for consumer protection.

There definitely still is a sweat, If a poker bill is going to be attached the last thing that legislators on both of the sides of the aisle would want is for it to come out to the public before the bill has passed. So until the text of the bill has been released there is a sweat.

I don't know Karak but he seems to have a lot of credibility around here, so I trust his information and judgement. I am not saying he nor anyone else in this forum is doing anything wrong by reporting on these things. I guess I'm just butthurt because I see an 800+ reply thread about iPoker passing on the bill and get excited and it turns out to be nothing all over again

Yeah regulated poker in America is simply not going to happen. Like, if there was an option to attach regulated poker or the requirement that everyone has to eat **** out of an elephants ass once per year the government is SNAP attaching the eat elephant **** and it's not even close to being close.

****ing pieces of ****.

It's hilarious watching everyone get all excited for something that at most had 0.0001% equity and that's being extremely generous.

LOL IM HEARING GOOD RUMORS.....LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

cool story, bruhhhhhh

Technically UIGEA was a sweat as well (more like an anti-sweat) and we lost that one so that counts against us as well.

Take your pessimism elsewhere.

EDIT: because regulated poker > sweats, hearings, and action > doing nothing and getting UIGEA II.

Guys when the bill is released and no ipoker regulation is attached there's still a chance that we could be dreaming or something.

I'm not, if anything im being optimistic.

Either way, being pessimistic or optimistic doesn't help nor hurt the chances of it being attached.
