NWB, I'm concerned about you, I recommend you give Gambler's Anonymous a call at this point...

It's out of control, man...

Your friend,
Ragingbull
I'm with this. Was hoping NWB would pull it together and beat his demons. However, it seems we should begin a countdown to busto.

NWB, considering the fact you are admittedly fighting a few addictions, are living at home with your parents, and have gone busto as a consequence of said addictions.....it would be a good idea to step back and re-evaluate what is going on.

Listen, the truth is simple and I mean this as honest advice: what you need and are looking for will not be found in online poker or alcohol.

Come to the surface and get some air, man. We would hate to see you drown....again.

Wow this guy is a true degen. He was up over $2k this morning... Now he is -$1k+

I just watched his session that he played this evening where he is down $2.66k. He was calling 3 bets with hands like 8873... not even double suited. It seems to me that his style is just trying to get lucky on a flop and hope to get his money in before the river.

OMG “I can’t believe what I just saw”. If anyone knows NWB I would suggest they contact or PM him. This really needs to stop and the dude needs some help.

3/28/11 from about 7:00 pm to 7:20 pm EST: He’s 3 tabling on Pstars at 1 / 2 PLO.
Table #1 around $500, table #2 over $200, table #3 under $200.

Heres a hand I saw:

Table #1 NWB tries a river bluff and bets out $64. Villian comes over the top and goes all in for about $400. NWB all in calls for tree fiddy (ok it was 341) and loses a 911 pot. Villian has 2 pairs, NWB has ace hi (WTF ace hi!!!!).

He reloads for about $500 (deep stack) and blows it all in about 10 minutes.

About 5 minutes later he busts out on tables #2 and #3

Brag: Saw NWB play PLO on Stars
Beat: Saw NWB lose $1400 in about 20 minutes

NWB,
It's your money, your life, and BBV can be rough, so I won't be surprised to not get an update. But, will you provide an update por favor with BRM plan, BR amount, goals, and game selection approach (weren't you focusing on MTTs previously, glad the stakes in the graph weren't bouncing all over the place)? Do you think you are just going to degen it away? An alcoholic knows whats about to go down when they walk out of the liquor store with a 5th of whiskey.

I'd like to see you succeed, haters gunna hate, but you've been getting alot of solid, genuine advice.
Like you, I did want to see a happy ending. But in the back of mind I figured that in about 3 months the 8k would seduce him like a tempting whore and he would move up and blow it all by year end. How wrong I was. It seems he is sliding downhill faster than Leo Dicaprio on the deck of a capsizing Titanic.

Timeline:

3/14: he says he has a BR of $695 and is rolled for PLO 10
3/18: gets 8k check
3/21: starts playing PLO 200

WTF?????

Give the guy a break...sheeesh if he wants to play 1/2 PLO let him. He's old enough to make his own decisions and doesn't need you following his every move so you can post it here.

Deep down, I think the majority suspected the ending was most likely not going to be a happy one. However, the train is off the tracks and going downhill a bit faster than I expected.

Would be amusing (and very cool) if he begins to run as hot as the sun and triples up, or something.

I wonder what his plan is? I highly doubt we hear from him again, though.

Plz keep updating the thread with his results, guys.

"Not that NWB has stayed within the roll limits outlined ITT while practicing solid BRM... But that's winning poker BTW, $1261.00."

lol was going to comment before the downswing but being up 1261 doesn't necessarily mean you're playing winning poker, especially this guy.

I wish him the best, but wishing him the best means playing at a limit where you can actually win/losses aren't going to seriously effect you or not gambling at all.

Well here I am, back in the hole. Those that saw it coming, congratulate yourselves on your keen intuitive skills. You were right. To those that had faith in me, I’m sorry to disappoint you. I guess my demons are still alive and kicking. But before I get into that, here is what else has been going on.

The past week has been largely spent moving house, and due to this I no longer have an internet connection (using a friends wireless at the moment). The only internet access I have is at the university, and they do not allow 2+2 as it comes up as an unsuitable site due to the “gambling” tags. Unfortunately the network does allow me to play poker...

Moving house has taken up most of my time, and I’ve had to do most of it myself. In between moving I have been trying to keep up with my studies. I missed one assignment deadline, successfully submitted another, got a good grade. I bought a car, a Ford Fairmont Ghia, from a good friend who used to own a car yard. It goes like a dream. Was a steal at $1500, I could sell it tomorrow for $2500. I bought some carpet for my room. Spent some money on my old bike, rides a lot better now. Have been riding 80 minutes a day and working out, eating healthy, not drinking often. But none of this is what you want to hear about, so here you go. Enjoy watching the degen in action. The following is my poker timeline since leaving the hospital. ALERT: BRM fail.

If any details here are inaccurate it’s due to poor memory, I have no interest in making things sound better/worse than they actually are. Have around $600 in my bankroll at time of exit. Dwindles down to $300. Get cheque. Do not deposit. Play two sessions of 1/2 NLHE at the local casino, play well despite having not played hold ‘em in a while. Profit both sessions, the first $100, the second around $250. Get the idea to deposit 2k on Stars with the mentality that when the AU dollar falls that the amount will increase in value (very adept at justifying degen decisions). BR is now $2300. Play a bunch of PLO200, steadily climb to $3500. I develop a plan to get my BR to 5k and start playing PLO100 with a 50bi rule. Then one day things go downhill. I take some legitimate beats, I lose a few big hands. There is no stop loss, there is no plan. I start playing desperate. My $3500 goes down to $1700. I think about stopping, feel unable, continue playing. Now I start playing bad. Really bad. I reeeeally want to get back to at least $2k. I start playing every hand, even 8873 like the gentleman kindly pointed out. 3 betting hoping my flush draw was good, hoping he’ll put me on a set. I lose, lose, lose. BR is around $800. Somehow I manage to stop, and I withdraw the remaining $800 and self exclude for a week to get my f*cking head together.

To those that are critiquing my hands from that last session, seriously don’t bother. It was idiocy, not poker, and I’m ashamed to have allowed such a thing to happen. I wasn’t even thinking. I was acting in reckless desperation to sucker my money back, and of course it just led to more losses. Before then I can honestly say I am proud of the way I played, the only mistake I made was of course the biggest mistake: no BRM, no plan, no f*cking brain. It seems these mistakes negate any level of skill that I possess. I am very disappointed and demoralized. I was deluded that I was going to make it work, it didn’t, and I now I feel just like I did before. Haters comments don’t bother me, it’s like being beaten with a feather duster after being shot in the stomach. What upsets me is the people who I’ve let down. I want to give a sincere thankyou to anyone who has bothered to take a non-Schadenfreude interest in my situation. All I can say is: things could be worse. I’ve still got the majority of my money. I have no immediate plans to continue playing. I cannot foresee any way to make poker work in the near future, nor any way I can approach it correctly to avoid repeating this bullsh*t. I will likely extend my self-ban to allow me to concentrate on my studies and to distance myself from this experience. Time will tell what will happen next. Might as well put 5k on black. Lol joke.

Cliffs:
- Since leaving hospital, I deposit $2000
- I make $350 from playing live
- I blow most of it and cash out $800.

Thanks for responding, NWB. I agree with the self-ban, you should replace poker entirely imo. Move on with your life and develop other hobbies.

Obviously poker is not going to provide anything positive to your life in any way whatsoever. Stop playing, it's just a ****ing game.

You are young, with the ability to acknowledge your errors. If you avoid gambling in the future, I bet things turn out just fine for you. However, if you insist on keeping gambling as a part of your life, you are smart enough to know where things will end up.

That road leads only way, man, and it sure as hell isn't up. That's obvious to everyone at this point, even yourself. DROP POKER.

Good luck with school, it's the one thing in your life with the most potential to increase your future standard of living and provide you with an enjoyable and comfortable life.

Poker will NEVER accomplish that for you. In fact, the converse seems true.

Hoping for the best, man.

Do not do that... Hopefully, after your last losing streak, you did not even think about doing that.

By doing this alone I can tell that you have matured and you are on your way to becoming a more successful poker player. You do, however, still need BRM work and more self control.

Once you can master the emotion of "reaaaaally wanting to get it back" you will see your profits break through the roof.

When I first started to play live I would go through 2 or 3 buyins at 1/2 very quickly trying to recoup my losses. I would look for spots where I could just get it all in preflop or on the flop. Once I mastered that emotion, or at least pretty close, I started to become so successful that I managed to play 2/5 regularly, with a proper BR, at a young age.

I really want to see you succeed. Everyone in the forum wants to see you succeed. If you work on your self control and come on the forums and post when you need help you will be on your way to becoming a very good poker player.

You have the talent. Now all you need is the discipline.

NWB, I think you are probably right to quit poker....

I have the same problem you do, I completely lose control and chase the losses when I feel I've been screwed out of my rightful winnings..

I throw temper tantrums also...

It probably isn't possible for us to stop tilting, so we'd be better off quitting...

Good luck my friend!
